Love the tweets. Funny guy.
When Ohrnberger played, he didn't distinguish himself. Whether Waters retires, I'd want someone else.

Wright far exceeded expectations, and was a real terror on third downs. Those concussions are serious business. A real loss for the team.

After reading about how serious the results were from his concussion from the previous year, I was surprised that Wright came back. After the concussion repeat, I figured it was over. Tough break for a promising player.

For the record, Ohrnberger's last tweet as a Patriot:

My work friends tease me because I do hand stands in the showers, but no one has a cleaner undercarriage... Guaranteed! #freshesttaintaround

Is that what Paterno and Sandusky taught him at Penn St? Because they certainly didn't teach him how to pass block.

I updated my blog with the latest transactions. My best estimate is that the Patriots have $28.5 million in cap space based on splitting the difference of the range given for next year's cap of $120-$124 million and calling is $122'ish. Then adding $6 million in unspent 2011 cap carry forward to give the Patriots an adjusted cap of $128'ish.

By the offseason rules of counting the top-51 cap hits only, the Patriots are at around $99.5 million for 52 players.

That would be $28.5M less any earned incentives from 2011.

PLEASE retire when you can Mike Wright

I'm kind of surprised with respect to Ohrnberger. He's fairly cheap (around $500k) and I figured he'd be brought into training camp for, if nothing else, competition.

Obviously the writing has been on the wall for Wright all season (and last season too). It's a sad, sad story. I agree with the notion that he should retire. It's just football.

They may really like Donald Thomas over Ohrenberger.

If we re-up Connolly. No reason to think we won't. I'd be happy bringing the same line back next year if Light and Waters want to come back.

McDonald even looked good that game he played. One of the strengths of the team IMO.

I've been doing the exact same thing for yrs, and here I was starting to think that I was alone in this

It's nice to see that there are those out there who value the cleanliness of the undercarriage :rocker:

Could it be that Wright wants to play and the Pats think he's a walking paralysis case.

I wish he retired and the Pats paid him off. 2.5 million in cap isn't that much.

No. It was either Adam Schefter or Peter King, but someone on Twitter quoted Wright. "I have a new apprieciation for the brain and how it works" and something to the effect of 'I want mine to continue working' followed. Wright and the Pats are ready for him to retire.

If Cannons is meant for T then arent we a bit short on guards ?

And given the fact that we had a lot of guys who weren't expected to see much playing time on regular units playing a lot more than Bill likely ever anticipated in his wildest dreams or nightmares... Pioli said yesterday in an interview about his teams boatload of cap space that upwards of $25M of it was already accounted for via escalators and incentives earned in 2011. I wouldn't be surprised if all of our $6.6M is already accounted for, and maybe more. There will be better information leaked via NFLN and ESPN just prior to the commencement of FA, although it will be confusing because we won't know what it's based on.

I really wish someone would figure out if Miguel has grown tired of the exercise or disenchanted with it or the team or the board or whatever... We've been spoiled and you know how that works, now feel entitled and it's upsetting not to think we know where things stand better than waiting on some talking head to feed us tidbits of information not in usable context...

If Wright is healthy enough to still play I hope he signs back here at a cheaper contract. I always liked that guy.

Wright and Ohrnberger were released because they failed their exit physicals. And both will end up receiving $1 million from the league because of it and thanks to the new CBA.

I mentioned last year that I felt that Wright was making a mistake by coming back. Others did as well. And, at the time, we felt that the risk of re-injury was too great.. This is one of the times I wish I'd been wrong.

I wish Wright nothing but the best going forward.

yeah i was a little surprised about Ohrnberger too. its too bad he was a really funny guy to follow on twitter. I feel bad for wright though nothing worse than injuries to derail a career
