No tear or breaks in his ankle, per Rapaport tweet. That makes it a grade 1 sprain.

Still not certain to play vs Jets. If he can't go, who takes his spot on third down? If BJGE, would sacrifice receiving threat and elusiveness. We may see if Ridley is deemed a reliable blocker.

I wonder if we see him Sunday. An ankle sprain, ever a minor one, doesn't sound good for a RB, especially a shifty one like Woodhead. Let him rest and we'll see him after the bye week. I have to admit that I'd like to see Vereen.

Any chance Vereen finally starts earning his paycheck?!

Let the Vereen Era begin!!!!!

I'm excited to finally see the guy picked ahead of Ridley play.

.....but still want Woody to get well FAST!

I was hoping it was just a sprain. Good news.

everyone wants to see him, but his first look will not be as Brady's bodyguard in a divisional game vs Jets. I think BJGE because #1 gotta be a reliable blocker. Now, if that's the case, I would not be surprised to see Vereen get his feet wet on first or second down. He will almost certainly dress again.

If a player is our #4 running back, then when we have more healthy players than recently, Vareen won't even be active. He is in the same situation as Price.

I am NOT anxious to see one of our top three running backs be injured for a few weeks so Vareen can play. I am not anxious to see one of our top 3 wide receivers injured for a few weeks so that Price can play.

I like what I see in Green-Ellis, Ridley and Woodhead. They are a top 10 running offense. I don't know why someone would want to reduce their reps so that a #4 can play. I can understand why we might want all three of our top 3 running backs to get more reps, in place of some the passing plays.

Really?

I thought Vereen dressed for the Oakland game last week.

Why wouldn't he dress again, given Woodhead's diminished capacity versus last week?

I, too, would prefer Woodhead be healthy and 100%. But if he isn't, it's nice to see a backup little guy whom we drafted in the 2nd round get his first looks.

And how many carries did Vareen have? How many receptions did Price have?

These guys were active because we had no one else to activate.

I was writing assuming that Woodhead is INJURED for the next game (he wasn't last week). That is a material difference. So why wouldn't Vereen be called upon more than last week (in which he WAS active, but didn't play) if Woodhead is in civvies?

If Woodhead is inactive this week, Vereen will be the #3. There is a better chance he sees action versus last week. He certainly will get more reps in practice than he did last week and, therefore, more likely to see action.

Let's see how Faulk comes back after Week 6. In the meantime, I'm loving the running back depth.

You wrote "When we have more healthy players than recently....." Wow, that's an optimsitic assumption given the long season and the toll it tends to take as we get deeper into it.

What's so hard about that?
