Bruschi to Ochocinco: 'Join the system, buddy'

Why compare him to Galloway? Why not compare him to, say, Gaffney?

Johnson compares fine with Gaffney. Gaffney catches, by game, in the regular season:

1
0
3
1
0
1
0
1
3
1

Johnson was signed on October 9, played his first game on October 30, and had only 2 multiple catch games in the entire regular season.

Re: Rodney Harrison backs Bruschi!

Just heard Rodney .... he backs and agrees with what Tedy said.

Anyone who doesn't just does NOT understand the Patriot Way. Period!

You might want to talk to Brady then, based on his response when questioned about it this morning.

His name is TEDY. There is only one "D" in it. I'd have thought a long time Pats fan would know that. As for what Tedy has the right to do, who the hell are you to say he doesn't have the right to question Chad's work ethic? Tedy has every right based on what he SAW on the field and what Chad tweeted the next day, though he wasn't questioning the work ethic so much as the frame of mind. Clearly you are a person who doesn't get it. Tedy's EARNED the right to question Chad's frame of mind. Just like Steve Grogan or John Hannah or any number of other Patriot greats who have come before. Same around the league. I have never taken issue with guys like Howie Long or Terry Bradshaw, or Walter Payton (rest his soul) who had the balls to stand up and question players on their former teams. They earned that right.

I guess Brady doesn't get it either. Remember this one:

"You don't talk about our team. He has no business talking about our team." "We'll let our coach talk about our team. We'll let our players talk about our team.

As a long term fan I thought you would have remembered that one.

I have no problem with Ocho's tweet...... it was genuine and heartfelt. It was a day off for them so if he want to sleep til 6 fine. I had much more of a problem with his earlier tweet "tweaking the Commish's nose" about the fine. It's pretty clear why Ocho wasn't part of the gameplan. The game was going to be played in "hurry-up" mode to keep the defense on it's heels. So it required guys that have the system down pat and can be depended on to be in the right place at the right time. Ocho is not there yet. That does not mean he's not developing or learning the system. It just means that BB & Co came up with a plan that didn't require much from Ocho. Granted, the limited time he was in, he had a bonehead penalty, but still. He was targeted 3 times. He got one catch, and was definitely interfered with on another that did not get called (a terrible non-call I might add). A mixed bag at best.

I also think there is merit in what Bruschi said. "Don't be awestruck, your not a fan..... You job is contribute".

All that being said.......... Bruschi is NOT the guy to say it. Bru, we all love you and appreciate all you've done here. Your part of the legacy, but you are not part of THIS TEAM. If Bill or Tom want, then they can get with Ocho separately and motivate in the way they think will best help the team (maybe that is calling him out, maybe not).....

After all, that is after all the only thing important here..... HELPING THE TEAM and the players on it succeed. Some Ex-Pat mediot ranting on TV like he's still the team captain in the locker room every day can't do that.
Sounds like it's Bruschi is the one that needs to (please be quiet... edited). It's a shame that he's turning into just another knuckledragging BSPN dope, like Trey Wingo, Marshall Faulk and the boys.

Chad is part of the team and he needs to act like it. Being in AWE means you aren't doing your job because you're too focused on what's going on around you and not focused on what you should be doing.

Sorry, I don't buy this. Just because someone is awestruck doesn't mean they're not focused on what they should be doing. As I said: amateur psychoanalysis.

Sorry, couldn't help myself...:D

I just spent 10 minutes reading through Pats news since the MNF game and culled the following comments from Pats players as they relate to Brady's performance.

Not quoted for accuracy but the key words are capitalized.

Slater - HONORED to play with Brady
Waters - Never played with a GREAT one before
Solder - It's AMAZING
Mayo - Sit back and ADMIRE

It seems as though Chad aint they only Pats player who is showering Brady with praise. I wonder if Tedy will chastise them and say that they need to "join the system" because they are nothing but spectators

So Galloway in 6.5 months couldn't learn the offense that Ochocinco is having trouble with for 6 weeks.

Season still starts in September, right? Should we put the season on hold until Ocho gets up to speed? He's a veteran, not some wet behind the ears rookie. I've seen the same clueless look on Galloway, Hayes etc. If he doesn't understand the playbook then he needs to spend every free waking second buried in it until he gets it. The fact that he spends time on twitter sends the wrong message, as does his fan boy mentality.

Is he any more or less famous now than he was last year?

Probably more....based on people watching that lame show with Owens last year who did not really follow him before that, I think added more popularity and now that he is on a team that is more respected than the junk he played at in Cincy...yeah,I think his fame has grown.

Agenda, much?

The difference is these guys are game day active contributors. They aren't getting pulled off the field for rookie penalties.

People are misreading this. Tedy is trying to help Ocho. He wants to motivate him and make him believe in himself that he can do this too.

Why so negative?

It has nothing to do with Psychoanalysis. It has everything to do with understanding the meaning of the words used.

As for whether or not you buy it, you don't have to. That's fine. But it doesn't change anything.

You and Bruschi follow him on Twitter, and OCHOCINCO is the one acting like a school girl? :D

Who says they do? I don't, but the media lets me know what he's saying within minutes of him saying it.

I think twitter is a great tool for gathering information. Unfortunately like the rest of the internet it's become something more...or less...

Re: Rodney Harrison backs Bruschi!

What did you expect Brady to say?

" Yeah,Ocho couldn't separate from his guy last night and he was out there for filler,I really think he lost his knack of getting open"

Are you that gullible?

The Patriot way has always been as long as you are on the team give praise and respect to your fellow teammates and opposing teams,no Patriot has ever put another under the bus under Belichick's regime and it will continue or they will be in Bill's doghouse.

Another thing that I have long learned the past decade is most stuff said at the media in NE is what the media does not want to hear....the good stuff said that they cannot write about and cause national attention.

Of course it's psychoanalysis. You're attempting to divine a mental state from Johnson's tweet and draw conclusions about how it affacts his ability to perform on the field

Being awestruck and knowing what you're supposed to do for your job are not mutually exclusive conditions. Simply stating that they are because you believe that to be the case is not exactly what I'd call a convincing argument. So, yeah, it certainly doesn't change a thing at all.

I don't think Bruschi was to hard on Chad because his mental lapse cost the team a 40 yard play in the first half to Gronkowski, when he covered up one of the tight ends. Bascically, what Bruschi was saying Chad spent a lot of time saying how much he would love to play with the Pats and selling Belichick that he should get him, but he is not taking an advantage of it. Wide receivers is one of the easiest positions to make a big impact in the NFL. Rookies do it, year in and year out. He has to realize he is playing with what is becoming arguably the greatest quarterback of all time, the responsibility as a supposed elite receiver is completely different. I think Bruschi said the right thing. We will see if Ochocinco is mature enough to handle it.

Because it's appropriate and because Gaffney was an in season free agent and did not come with the same expectations as Ocho does. Comparing Ocho to Gaffney would be foolish.

Right. But clearly Galloway and Hayes had similar expectations

Doesn't change the fact that Gaffney did just about nothing for an entire season before turning into a productive receiver.
