I'm hearing rumors on Indy message boards- Peyton to IR

That's true..... Seems odd that a "by all accounts" reliable guy would have multiple sources on something this major, jet there has been nothing major reported by other "NFL" based inside guys like Shefter, Clayton et all. It's been out over an hour now.

Seems a little weird. I'm tentatively calling BS on this....

Hope your right. We all felt sick when Brady went down. Don't wish that on anyone.

If, ironically, they can stay healthy at their other positions (Addai, Gonzalez, and Clark, Freeney, and Mathis all stay healthy), and they can get a lot of production from their rookie class, I could see the Colts not sucking this year. Not 11-5, considering that they went 10-6 last year with Manning, but maybe 7-9 or 8-8 or something like that. I don't buy that Peyton alone is the one thing keeping a 10-6 team from being 2-14.

Selfishly, I hope Manning plays at least partly because I think they're going to regress with or without him this year. I'd rather that his ballwashers didn't get a chance to use this season as a "look how important he is!" rallying cry.

I couldn't agree more. IF this is actually true, I see them taking a bit hit, but all of these people talking about the #1st overall pick next yr are completely ridiculous.

The first thing I thought of before reading your post was the exact same record that you have...7-9/8-8 etc. How in the hell are the Indy Colts going to have the first pick of next yr's draft, lol?? There will be at least 6-8-10 teams that are worse off than them.

if schefter's saying indy is set to roll with collins week 1, i'd say this sunds like it may be credible

As I recall, Colts, Steelers, and Jets boards erupted with joy at the news of Tom going down. It's good to see we are somewhat above that level.

BTW Its always a pleasure see Collins throw the ball. One of the best spirals and throwing motions and mechanics in the game

Let's wait to see if a Patriots fan starts selling a t-shirt mocking Manning's situation. If that doesn't happen, then we can claim the higher ground.

Absolutely love, and agree with your point.

I'll never forget those damn t-shirts that the Steeler fans made up.

As much as I will appreciate the fact that IND is in a worse situation, there's absolutely zero reason to wish an injury on anyone. Besides, out of all of our rivals, I dislike Indy the least. It's the Pittsburgh and NYJ fans/teams that get my blood boiling. I have heard some classy things from Indy and their fans at times, Tom and Peyton are friends, and they just don't seem that bad to me out of the top few rivals.

Those of you using Irsay's tweets as some form of cryptic evidence would do well to remember that his tweets were thought to mean that the Colts were going to bring back Favre, right up until the moment they announced Collins had been signed.

There may be hope for Colts fans. incarceratedbob tweeted that Manning is out for the season. Given bob's history, that means Manning is probably as healthy as he's ever been.

Can you imagine a more perfect succession plan created and conspired to by Manning and Polian. Manning provides a "hometown" discount and gets a year off to rehab. Indy tanks and gets rewarded with andrew Luck who will provide two decades of glory post_Manning. Plot worthy of a Hollywood movie. And if the movie gets made guess who gets screen writers and creative credits: Manning and Polian.

Yes... Brady plays long enough for his son to take over for him.

Collins would still be good enough to get the Colts 8 wins

They still have Mathis,Freeney and company on defense, they will not lose 14 games, with or without Peyton.

If it was Painter at QB then maybe they win 6 games,Collins is a decent QB in the line of QBs such as Brunell,Garcia,Tavaris Jackson and Thigpen for example....they can win at least 8 games.

two decades of glory, huh???

put down the Farve Foamy Fawning Fan Fruit Juice and take your reality pills....if this happens the league will probably have morphed into a flag football enterprise.

The Colts have quickly responded to the Indianapolis radio report claiming that Peyton Manning will require another neck surgery.

“I don’t know anything about that. I honestly don’t,” Colts President Bill Polian told SI’s Peter King.
I hope he plays this season, I really do. I want them to go 6-10 with him.

I don't know why the doctor hasn't just had him lay down on the table and fired electricity into him. He's done it before.

where does his current neck injury originate from?

which team hurt him?

Eight games is way optimistic. They won 10 games last year with Manning. Granted there were injuries to Dallas Clark and Austin Collie and a few others.

The Colts' defense is mediocre and typically gives up a lot of points and yards. Mathis and Freeney are about all they have. Most of the rest of their defense consists of average to below average guys. The Colts' defense gave up 341.1 yards and 24.2 points a game. Their defense sucks.

With Collins, I'd say their max is about 6 wins. With Painter, it is probably less,
