To free up a roster spot. Since he is long in the tooth, chances are likely that no other team will be in a hurry to snap him up and he'll be available when the regular season starts, should we need to fall back on him.

He also hadn't healed from shoulder surgery yet, so this would be a good time to have him do that without taking up valuable roster space.

Or we just felt the other 2 werent NFL ready (I can understand that from how they looked in games) and we will find someone better on the waiver wire.
BB isnt afraid to cut a guy who isn't going to help when he knows he isnt going to help, then try to find the guy who will help on waivers or in a trade. The trade may already be done, Crumpler may already be on his way to town.
This TE roster dance happens a lot.

Out of these sources: Rappoport, Chris Price, SMY, Monique Walker, Bedard, Reiss, PFT and Schefter, none have mentioned Thomas Austin being cut.

I don't think he'll clear waivers. Big TE's are hard to come by. Dolphins need one. I know Yeatman wasn't always consistent, but what rookie is, right off the bat?

There have been a ton of TEs released today who I think the Dolphins would add before they even considered Yeatman.

Hey AndyJohnson, it looks bleak with Cunningham.The guy has zero pass rushing skills.This team needs a DE that can get to the QB consistently.It doesnt have to be a sack but put enough pressure at least.

Do you actually watch the games? Who do you think hit Peyton Manning forcing the interception that won that game?

Cunningham had *lots* of hits and hurries. He failed to convert those into sacks, suggesting as many here have pointed out that he needs to work on his upper body strength. But saying he has "zero pass rushing skills"? Perhaps you have zero football watching skills.

It was Butler's stellar play that evening that caused their QB to throw far wide or too short even though their WR was open. You wouldn't be able to properly diagnose a play or make a rational fair assessment unless it fits your argument. That's your shtick. That's why you're a joke and I can't take you seriously.

But wait. You were arguing that I assessed and defended his play without looking.
I said that I find it hard to believe the pass D in the 2nd half could be bad when they allowed 2 completions.
Altough your assessment is wrong, even if it were correct that does not mean my comment was wrong, and it certainly doesnt mean I waqs assessing Butler before watching the game.
But hey, I have the game on tape, if you want to point out each play that Butler had terrible coverage that the QB made an awful throw I will go look.

The most ridiculous part of this post is that you trash me because you want to make what I said say something different and when it doesnt you have to personally attack me. A little maturity would help you here.

Ande by the way, I have no argument to defend, because finding it hard to believe corners were awful in a half that included 2 completed passes is pretty much a fact, not an argument.
But maybe we could start a poll? If the QB completes 2 [passes in a half would you guess the pass defense was horrible? See what you get.

Sorry, but objectively speaking, somebody who is questioning and doubting Cunningham (or this pass rush in general, which he was a part of) has a lot more to stand on than someone saying the opposite. It's certainly not "clueless".
