I think both of them are gone- I wouldn't be surprised at a trade to the Giants for a 4th or 5th pick. They are short at corner.

Given that they were already $10-12mm under the cap, not sure how this helps any. They didn't need cap space to sign someone. There are few $12mm players available in free agency right now.

I hope this was not a salary cap move, but simply a decision by the coaching staff that he was not one of the 8-10 best secondary players.

Funny how everyone was on BM. Now I expect an unexpected cut at WR. Don't be shocked to see DB instead of BT cut.

Could be the Pats overpaid for once and had to cut someone. Must have projected him t improve more, I guess.

I predicted a Meriweather trade, but noticed, as others did, how he was kept on the field while others started, sat down in favor of S. Brown in practice and we never heard a peep out of him. Could it be Meri has bought into the program sufficiently that Bill is looking at backups short term, or with more potential than Sanders and Meriweather playing himself into a new contract?

Just a thought, I tend to think stupid doesn't wear off, but BB has a certain rehabilitation program in him, like when he rode the streets with police and visited prisoners and stuff.

Now! Just kidding, there are definitely plenty of teams out there who could use his services. Like Levoir, he will have suitors knocking at the door. Perhaps Dallas, for example?

The Jets are by no means the most needy team out there.

He routinely abandons his responsibility just to go after the ball. He couldn't even cover a 5th string ST WR.

And you think Butler and Wilhite can do better? Really? Butler was on the field last Saturday during 2 TDs.

WOW he was ON the field? Crazy. I don't see how it is Butler's fault if Arrington gets toasted. McCourty was ON the field for multiple TDs too. CUT HIM.

I think the safety position hasn't been a real strength since Rodney Harrison and Eugene Wilson were the starters. I'm surprised Sanders has been cut since the Patriots don't appear to have better options right now. Maybe they'll give Sharper a look.

Shocked that they cut him, we really have no depth at S. Barrett is injured, Idehigbo is ST only. Must mean a signing is coming.

Agree with most others. Unexpected cut. Seems we're quite thin at Safety. Although wasn't a huge fan of Sanders he was ok.

I'm thinking Deion Branch may be that cut. Ocho is struggling a bit but Branch is just meh. By cutting Branch I'm not saying to save Tate (he's had his chances and hasn't done anything with them). Who I am saving is BUDDY FARNHAM. This guy reminds me of one of my favorite Patriots players.... Troy Brown. The fact he's doing anything he can.. return punts, play safety, etc. might have earned him a spot.

If Indehigbo catches that INT instead of playing hot potato, I think he might have had a closer look for a Safety spot...those little things can matter to a bubble boy

Farnham is a feel-good story, but I don't see him sticking. [Then again, they did keep him over Jenkins. . . .]
