Ochocinco needs to shut the eff up

I thought he was gonna keep his mouth shut and enjoy football...I guess you can't change some people

I hope he keeps talking. BB might like things quiet, and while I love me some BB, I also like to be entertained.

Why did you think he was going to keep his mouth shut? Because someone on ESPN said so?

No, because HE said so. Day one in Gillette interview. "You won't be seeing that kind of stuff gfrom me anymore."

I love that the team embraces the 'leave the talk for the field' attitude, but fans don't really need to follow that. Do you dislike him because he stood up for what he believes is right?

Has he challenged anyone yet? Done anything to make the team look bad? Tweeted more than anyone else on the roster? Employ a detrimental attitude to the team?

The answer to all of those is "No."

Ochocinco gets singled out because of his past. Go and look through other players twitter accounts, several tweet just as often, maybe more. half of Ocho's tweets are talking to his girlfriend but some people make it seem like he shouldn't be allowed to tweet period, because "its bad for the team". Give me a break.

By all accounts he has been nothing but a great teammate since coming here and has done nothing less than everything he's been asked to do. He stays after practice, shows up on time, works hard, etc. What is your issue with him?

The only thing he's done since getting here that people can look at is offer to pay a fine he believes shouldn't have been given in the first place. I have no issues with this. And before you bring up the thing about living with a fan, didn't Kraft himself say he has a few ideas for Ocho? I think it is pretty obvious that the team has no issues with this, and if they do, they seemingly don't care enough to stop him. Either way, I don't care, and unless it hurts the team in some way, you probably shouldn't care either.

How does that equate to a self-imposed gag order?

The infraction and subsequent punishment for Spygate is akin to someone who gets pulled over for going 15 MPH over the posted speed limit getting thrown in prison for 25 to life. There is no rationalization, only the facts.

That's a horrible analogy.

Listen....... I love the guy. Happy as heck that we signed him. But he really needs to be careful on his twitter..

per his tweet (30 minutes ago).

Where @nflcommish is Roger Goodell's twitter account.

It's illegal to pay another person's fine, and essentially chad is directly thumbing his nose at the commish (in front of him no less). Chad....... if you read these boards...... PLEASE, PLEASE don't tweak the commissioners nose.

You play for the Patriots now....... News Flash...... GOODELL HATES US. He is liable to take away a first round pick or something for this. Just play football and enough with the social media. Let us moron's piss and moan about what a hypocritical ass the commish is. You don't need to.

That's all.

If the NFL does anything, we could see this in court. Regular court.

What right do I have to tell you how to spend your money?

I, for one, would welcome this lawsuit. Then the owners can address if they want a commissioner over stepping legality.

Yeah, I got not problem with Chad going to Mason's house and conveniently losing 20k in a card game or something, but there is no need to tweak the Commish's nose by telling him you are going to do something illegal (in an NFL sense).

No good will come of it.

I understand the "in an NFL" sense and what is "illegal" is whatever Goodell says is "illegal," but I'd love to see him try to enforce it. Lawsuits up the ying-yang and half of them by the NFLPA. Unless the new CBA gives him the right to tell players how to spend their money.

That said, I'd rather the test case was not a 1 game suspension for a Patriots player. (Although I'd love to see the Patriots as one of several plaintiffs.)

Bet you will if he gets himself suspended for deliberately breaking the rules. The Commissioner isn't his dad and he isn't in Cincy anymore...

Hey, I'd rather it was a Jet getting suspended, but if this leads to Goodell's split with the NFL over artistic differences... well... at least we are stocked at WR.

Boy, I guess by this thread we all know that Ocho sure inspires some passions among the fans.... It's all good.

On a side note..... in the past 24-26 hours, Ocho's tweets have been very mellow, with no football related tweet really (a few fan responses). Which is somewhat of of a departure. Me thinks Bill might of weighed in with Chad privately

He's actually a funny guy on twitter. If you follow twitter at all, I'd suggest following him - @ochocinco

The season can't come fast enough for me.

he's had one point to make and it is valid IMO......other than that, nothing but white noise

A rule that a player can't pay another player's fine is not illegal. And it's no more "telling someone what they can do with their money" than is a fine for an illegal hit. It's a rules violation and the commisioner's office has the right to punish rules violations. End.

As for whether it's a problem, I have absolutely no problem with what CO is doing. In fact, I love it, for the same reason I love that he changed his name. He stands up for what he believes in. He changed his name to do something the league told him he couldn't.

Now, his team may decide that this kind of stuff is a distraction and tell him to stop. And I'm fine with that too. And I suspect he'll do what he's told. But the impulse that makes him a man of principle makes me think he's a guy willing to go the distance, and I like that on my favorite team, even if the principles he's fighting over seem a bit frivolous. That's not the point.

For those who think it's not "the Patriot way," I respect your opinion. I don't mind a little loosening of the collars, but everyone can have their own thoughts about that.

For those worried that this is going to feed into some conspiracy out of the commissioner's office to screw us, I think it's exactly that -- a silly conspiracy theory. But if you truly believe it, you don't give in to a bully.

My BOTTOM line is that Ochocinco should not do anything that is in violation of what Belichick and the team wants. If belichick wants to stop this kind of behavior, that's fine. Ocho should, and will comply.

Personally, I think that he can spend his money to support his fellow player if he wishes. IMHO, such support should be applauded.

Ocho has hardly said anything football related since he came to the team. I doubt anyone has talked to him as he hasn't changed his twitter attitude since he got here. I have no issues with anything he has said or done since he put on this uniform.

Hardly a departure.

Don't care as long as he's not in talking badly about the organization or handcuffscuffs

Wrong...tweets are the same.
