re: 98.5 Source...Osi to Jets?

Gresh just said his gut feeling is that the Pats aren't going to trade for Umenyiora. If he had a source that said that the Jets had acquired him, I think it would be more than a gut theory that the Pats weren't going to trade for him.

Sorry, but there doesn't seem to be any truth to the premise of this thread.

re: 98.5 Source...Osi to Jets?

We all know he's going to the Eagles anyways.

Re: Report: Pats interested in Umenyiora, price now down to 2nd rounder

I'm not in the break the bank for Osi camp although Borg's excellent analysis requires thought. What also gives me pause for thought is the Jets' cap strategy of supposedly deferring several big contract payments to 2014 when the new TV deal expectdly bumps the cap. Were I Belichick I would at least consider portfolio diversification and place at least one and maybe two big contract bets on the 2014 square. Not several, Jets style, but some just in case the expected occurs. That way the team can benefit a bit more during Brady's last big years without risking the entire house of cards Jets style. Whether this is Osi or one of the Pats (MLB comes to mind) is up to him.

re: 98.5 Source...Osi to Jets?

I'd find it very surprising if the Giants were to deal him to the Jets. It would be a PR nightmare for them, in my opinion. In some quarters, the Giants seem to be developing something of an inferiority complex for the first time when it comes to the Jets, as it is.

Re: Report: Pats interested in Umenyiora, price now down to 2nd rounder

@Greg_A_Bedard Greg A. Bedard:
As far as the Patriots' level of interest in DE Osi Umenyiora, "due diligence" is how one league source termed it.

re: 98.5 Source...Osi to Jets?

98.5 isn't even talking about it now. You would think if the Jets had traded for Umenyiora, they would have spent some time talking about it. No offense to the original poster, but he/she might have heard it wrong.

Same poster who "guaranteed" we'd get not one but two 1st round picks for Cassell. Color me skeptical.

re: 98.5 Source...Osi to Jets?

Wait, it's false?

Pats need Osi! He's the answer to our pass rush! If we get him we're better than the Jets!

(nowimdoinitrite!)

If the 2014 cap goes up to 50%, remember, we have to sign players from the 2009 and 2010 classes (if Devin, Gronk, Herno, Spikes, Vollmer, Chung are worth signing).
Did Mayo sign a 6 year deal? If so, his contract comes up either in 2013 or 2014.

Osi wants a front-loaded contract, though.

I believe it was a 5 year deal. If they sign Osi they should try for a 3 year deal imo.

Yes he does and thatwill be the breaking point of this whole idea.

I'd love to have him on this team wrecking havoc but I just don't think it's gonna happen,

@Greg_A_Bedard Greg A. Bedard:

Which could mean anything from the Pats are agressively negotiating to the Pats called his agent to say hello.

Re: Report: Pats interested in Umenyiora, price now down to 2nd rounder

He wants a signing bonus. He doesn't care how it is structured against the cap. There are ways to push bonus money back.

Re: Report: Pats interested in Umenyiora, price now down to 2nd rounder

Hard to see the Pats giving a high pick and big money to a Condon client.

Tony Agnone is his agent.
