Pats Trade for Haynesworth (merged)

Only a scumbag stomps a guys head while he is down and defenseless.

I dont care if he's a Pat now or not. This guy is trash.

That said... I hope he performs at stud level on the field. Im just not going into the season expecting it.

Fair enough!

dont like the move at all. He is a lazy pain in the ass and cost waaaaaay too much. On a positive note, teams are NOT running up the middle on us.

He's due 17M over the next 3 years.

He's the cheapest of our D-Lineman.

yea. 100 million dollars couldnt motivate him enough to pass the damn thing. What a loser.

Playing Nose Tackle, a 0 glory position, is what couldn't motivate him. He likes to rush the passer and get recognition for it. It's almost certainly what he'll be doing in New England as we already have a top NT on our roster.

edit: a coach trying to publicly embarrass him every chance he gets and being an equal jackass in return didn't help the situation either. Shanahan handled the situation pretty terribly. BB 1.) probably would have tried using AH in different ways and 2.) has the benefit of hindsight in knowing what does and doesn't work using AH.

This is pretty much an all win situation for us on the field. I don't see any hesitation cutting him if he starts acting up in the locker room or off the field considering we didn't give up a whole lot for him. We could probably trade him for a higher pick than we paid for him anyways if he performs on gameday but acts up too much off the field.

And we play the Redskins this year....Oh Fat Albert will be motivated in that game.

I hope he does the same to Sachez, 5 head, and Eli...esp Eli and Sachez:rocker:

Always hated this guy especially since I do enjoy the Cowboys. I think he's fat, lazy, lethargic, and pathetic. He didn't want to play a 3-4, so why do we get him? I hope he pans out but something tells me he'll be a disappointment.

No brainer for talent, mild question for effort/cost, huge gamble off the field.

I love the trade because of its low risk nature, and this, thankfully, kills the notion that the team was going to stay in house to improve the pass rush.

It's taking shape.

I agree with this part.

All the other excuse making for his actions I will leave to you guys. Im not on board with that.

It is definitely starting to look like a stellar defense. If the trade helps to improve their ability to get off the damn field on third down, I am all for the trade.

I just hope he's in shape..love the deal if he is..not so much if he isn't

Same. Guy' a dirtbag, and I'm going to have a hard time rooting for him as a human being, but he's a Patriot now, so I'll find a way. He either makes us a better team or he will be cut, so can't argue with that.

*sigh* He didn't want to play NT in the 3-4. He wanted to play DE. This has been discussed ad nauseum in this thread.

Prior to acquiring Corey Dillon, I was fan. There was no denying his frustration with the Bengals' organization. He was hungry to win and he didn't sense the Bengals were doing their part.

Before trading for Randy Moss, I thought he was lazy.... a locker room cancer that could destroy the Patriots chemistry. I was wrong, to a degree. He fell into line, played his part until last season when it all seem to go to his head and he found himself bouncing between teams.

Now the Patriots have Haynesworth, whose talent jumps off the chart, but has been a disgrace to himself with his off field antics and reports of failed conditioning tests. For the Patriots' sake, I hope he can recapture his inner fire and perform like he did in a Titans uniform.

But make no mistake, he has a long ways to go toward redemption and if anyone can ingrain that into his head, it would Coach B and Sgt. Pepper.

And for all those that thought the world was ending (if) the Jets signed Asomugha....

the earth is shaking right now because Haynesworth is coming to New England, not because the Jets marginally improved the corner position (over Cromartie).

Yes I get that. The more I've been reading and listening the more I like it. He'll play RDE and DT. Still don't like the guy. Hope he gives us two good years and then falls off a cliff. We should let BB stomp his head before he he plays.

I'm only kidding. I hope he shapes up and plays well.

That's it in a nutshell. It's a great pleasure when people you can personally root for align with the team you root for, but realistically there are never 53 gold-plated mensches on an NFL roster. As long as Haynesworth's here, I hope he's a beast on the field.

exactly.

We dont have to like the guy to hope that he does well for the better of the team.

I just dont see why people feel the need to make lame excuses for what he's done in the past, just because he is wearing our laundry now.

Yes he's a scumbag, lazy, unmotivated, loser.....BUT he's OUR scumbag, lazy, unmotivated loser now. And we will root for him...as long as he meets OUR expectations of how a Patriot player should act and play. If he just does that, with all that talent, this could be BB's best off season pick up since Welker/Moss, and Corey Dillon.

Even if BB is dead wrong, all it costs us is what amounts to a low 6th round pick and some **** dished out from Ron Borges. Even as a bust Albert would have a use as an example that BB will cut anyone who isn't pulling his weight on the field, classroom, and community. Its a win win regardless of how it turns out.

there are reasons to dislike every athlete save a very few........

I'm kind of thinking BB has JUMPED THE SHARK! on this one. Maybe he's CRAZY!

Big Al didn't like playing 3-4 and taking on blockers. Wilfork is also really good at being the penetrating type as is that guy from Kentucky we have....

Maybe we go more 4-3 try to penetrate the hell out of em and create some havoc...then allow an unblocked Mayo to clean things up. Maybe play some 4-2-5...

But maybe he's not crazy...maybe he's....CRAZY LIKE A FOX!

:rocker:

Like I said! Crazy like a FOX!
