PFT: Patriots, among many other teams, expected to make a waiver claim for Moss

I'm pulling for Oakland... then Moss can implode that locker room, help them tank the season, secure the #1 pick for the Pats, and then re-join the Patriots for the playoffs once the Raiders cut him again, ensuring that no team other than the Patriots will take a chance on him.

Oakland isn't going to touch Moss. Not after how they got torched before.

I don't think there is any way in hell the Pats claim Moss.. i don't think they would sign him IF he cleared waivers either. They just traded him away. I just don't see them doing this unless they could trade him back to the Vikings or Raiders for yet another pick!

Did you ever stop to think that the Pats traded Randy out of respect for Randy? Knowing that he was unhappy because of a lack of a contract extension, they tried to accommodate him. You seem to forget that just about EVERYONE had nothing but good things to say about Randy as a teammate and a player.

I could see the Pats bringing him back.

No way the Patriots start 4 rookies on defense....

+1

No way BB sticks with Matt Cassell, he will bring in a vet.

Starting a sentence with "No way the Patriots..." just proves you don't follow this team closely.

Did he not sound genuine in his PC Sunday after the game? I think he realizes how good he had it here in NE and is prepared to do whatever it teams to be apart of a team and contend for a SB

It's like saying that I stole something from you, felt bad about it and to make up for it stole something from someone else to give to you, so now I've learned my lesson. It just doesn't add up.

Weak.

Moss never was huge problem in NE. If he did do you really think BB would praise him has much has he has, schedule an unscheduled PC to talk about him and what a pleasure he was to coach? The Pats traded Moss because they respected him.

Moss being in Minnesota realized just how special the Pats organization is, and this is ultimately where he wants to play. Just listen to his PC on Sunday, I dont think you can get much more genuine than that. Bottom line is Moss wants to win a SB, and he realizes now he has to be a team player to do so

He sounded like a spoiled child. Imagine if the roles were reversed and a player on the Pats pined for another team like that. You would be calling him a lot of things but genuine wouldn't be one of them.

Come on, now that's weak.

I wouldn't be shocked if the Pats brought him back... I my opinion I just don't think they will. None of us really knows why he was traded. It could be any of the things speculated or a combination of a few of them, or it could be something we have no idea about. The bottom line is that we may never find out why he was traded. For the record i would be fine with Randy coming back to the team. You gotta figure after all this he would likely behave for the rest of the season. But none of this really matters anyway because I doubt there wouldn't be one single team claim him unless his agent made it clear not to because he'd be a problem.

He is a spoiled child. A spoiled child who can make one handed TD catches nobody else in the league can make.

And if roles were reversed I would think the guy was an absolute a--hole. Wait, even under the current set up I think the guy is an absolute a--hole. But an a--hole that can make one handed catches and who will behavior for at least the rest of the season.

If the roles were reversed there wouldnt ever be a problem because of the way the Patriots run their organization. The Vikings dont run their organization the right way and it starts with their head coach. He has lost total control of the locker room and his players and fans.

If I were a Vikings fan, I dont know if you can really get mad at Moss. He said how he truly felt about NE. If Moss was treated fairly in Minnesota, going by what he said he wasnt really respected, I dont think he would have had that outburst after the game Sunday. Also, if the Vikings were winning then I dont think he would have had that as well.

Moss is nearing the end of his career. He has done pretty much everything a WR can do. He is a sure HOF'er. They only thing that he is missing is a SB. I truly believe that is the only thing he wants now. When he was with the Pats earlier this season he wanted the SB, but also wanted to be the super star and make all the catches and score points. After seeing what it is like on another team he realized how much fun he had here in NE and how a team is supposed to be ran. While it may seem immature and a veteran should already have known how well he had it, Moss is a little different than most players. Through it all Moss is a very smart football player and business man. He finally has realized what it is going to take for him to win a SB and that is him putting the team above him.

With that being said he really hope that he goes through waivers and the Pats bring him back as a FA. The chances of him clearing waivers I think are very slim to none just for the fact of that he still has talent and some teams would want to block the Pats from getting him.

I dont get why a losing team would claim Moss.I can see a winning team claiming Moss.Teams like Cincinnati, san francisco, dallas, carolina, etc doesnt make any sense.Even the bills.

If you're a losing team... or a semi-losing team... willing to sign Moss to a long-term deal this season, Moss would want to play for you and you'd know this was your primary chance to grab a guy of Moss' caliber before free agency starts.

That would be the theory anyway... you're doing it for next season (assuming there is one) - not this season.

Moss wants money - that's why he got himself traded from New England and cut from the Vikings - 2 teams that apparently had ruled out a contract extension now. That's not a coincidence.

Come on, now that's weak.

If the Pats traded him because he was a major issue for the team and in the locker room then why would everyone associated with the team say have nothing but positive things to say about him? BB every time the subject comes up says what a privilege it was to coach him and that he is a HOFer. Brady has said numerous times that they are still good friends and that the Pats are better with him on the team. Mayo said today the Pats would welcome him back with open arms.

Yeah - I know... I was just hoping we could get the #1 pick as well as a 3rd rounder thanks to Moss.

Wow, I am a pretty big homer myself. But that is just blind. His post Pats-Viking rant was no worse than his post Pats-Ravens rant. Does that mean the Patriot treated him without respect leading up to that game and our coach doesn't know how to run an organization?

Do you really think the food at the Vikings facility is really substandard dog food?

Most of this, heck all of this, is Randy. Randy is an unstable selfish douche. And unstable selfish douche who is also a freak of nature and can catch balls nobody else can. But an unstable selfish douche nonetheless.

NESN | Mayo: Moss would be received 'with open arms'

"He's a great player, a great teammate and whatever the coaches decide is what we'll deal with," said Mayo.

Moss, waived by the Vikings on Tuesday, was traded from New England a few weeks ago for a third-round draft pick. The Patriots have gone unbeaten since his departure, but, if the coaching staff brings him back, Mayo believes the reception would be befitting the prodigal son.

"I'm sure with open arms," said Mayo, who has an established friendship with Moss. "Like I said earlier, he's a great teammate and a great player."

The record-holding receiver and his contract are now up for grabs. The waiver process runs until Wednesday at 4 p.m., with the priority set from worst to first. For the Patriots -- holders of the best win-loss record in the NFL -- to re-acquire Moss, every team in the league must first pass on him. Only by putting in a claim would New England then be responsible for the $3.39 million of his remaining salary. Should no team claim the receiver, however, he would be free to sign with the team of his choosing.

Everybody ONE CLAP!!!

Best remix.

Moss didnt speak after the Ravens game. Maybe you are thinking about the Bengals game? The whole issue with that was his contract. And in my opinion he deserved to get an extension before the season started, but that isnt the way the Patriots run their business. Moss understood that it was a business thing and not a personal thing.

It is pretty hard to deny that Randy isnt selfish. He is selfish now in the fact that he wants to win. The whole incident with the food in Minnesota was because he wanted out. He wanted to get released/waived. He didnt feel like he was being treated fairly there and was being disrespected. Again, if Moss was such a distraction and so selfish why do his ex teammates/coach continue to say nothing but positive things about him, and that they would welcome him back?

Moss' PC on Sunday showed the respect for the Pats and BB and just how much the organization means to him. All Moss wants before he retires is a SB ring. I think he knows that the Patriots have a pretty good chance of winning a SB within the next 2 or 3 years. Now that he has seen what other organizations are like he realizes NE is where he wants to be, and they know what it takes to win.

Re: PFT: Patriots expected to claim Moss

Florio's logic, such as it is, is that if other teams put in a claim, and NE doesn't, it might make Moss bitter.
That ship has sailed or have you forgotten the Terry Glenn fiasco in 2001?

Again, if Moss was such a distraction and so selfish why do his ex teammates/coach continue to say nothing but positive things about him, and that they would welcome him back?

Cause he is a freak of nature that can catch footballs with one hand.

Here is what I think happened.

Randy in 2007 came in all gung-ho and was great. Then afterwards slowly but steadily forgot how bad life was in Oakland and got more and more selfish and stopped being a team player. I saw the beginning of this when be declared no confidence in Matt Cassel in the KC post game presser. By the beginning of 2010 Randy had become a liability instead of an asset to the team, because of attitude not skill.

So BB sends Randy to a 10 week time out with Brad the moron and Farve the ints king, but doesn't burn the bridge figuring on signing a renewed Randy after Randy gets a reminder that not all teams are as good of a place to be as NE.

I am all for signing Randy back up, because he is a freak of nature that can catch balls nobody else can. But just cause I want him on the team doesn't mean he ain't an ahole.
