Worse because time is pretty much running out for him in terms of winning a superbowl before he retired.
He left a perfect situation in New England. He left a situation where the QB and HC would never throw him under the bus, always supported him, and most of all, were professional and very serious about the game of football.
Already in Minn, he is seeing that Childress is half the coach BB is and an awful game manager, and he is seeing how undisciplined Favre is and how uncommitted he is to the game plan.
Greek tragedy material. Hero has fatal flaw that is his undoing.
Randy wanted a final contract with a big paycheck. Pats were not willing to commit ahead of time, probably being concerned with potential age sharp dropoff plus CBA uncertainty. Pouted a bit off season. But after a stellar training camp performance, Randy hoped that the Pats would change their minds seeing he still had the goods. Maybe BB was even leaning in that direction.
Now comes the fatal flaw. Forgetting or never having learned the lessons from his true Pats team mates and his HC, Randy uncontrollably became more and more obsessed with his missing next contract. Lost it completely in his rambling opening day postgame in his press conference. Still liked BB, Tom & wanted to be a Patriot, Moss took it as a personal affront that others had new contracts and he did not as yet, ironocally all the time repeatedly saying "it's just business" but feeling the opposite. Telling words.
After an initial cooling down after a talk with BB, some thing(s) happened yet again where Randy likely said feature me or trade me with an implied 'or else'. Pats management made the belated decision (better made prior to the draft, but they were hoping for that pony) that they really needed to move Moss and now. It must have been somewhat visible and serious as there was nary a squeak from the locker room over the abrupt trade.
As others have so correctly stated what could have been a wonderfull new home for Randy, had the Favre of 2009 showed up went to hell as the Favre of 2010 showed his age and his penchant for game destroying turn overs. Gone was the chance to rack up mega highlight TDs and stats as the 2009 Favre, his best season in years, threw long to Moss time and again whether or not the situation warranted it. A tragic confluence of events, but not totally unexpected.
