Arrington: "It was his (Moss) decision to make."

Worst mistake of his professional career. He is going down on the SS Favre.. that ship is sinking fast.

I'm beginning to see it your way now. I used to think it was a good move for him but it does seem it's just terrible for his career, at least so far.

Still pissed at Moss for forcing that trade. It'll be fun to see if the funslinger completes more passes to Moss than he does to the other team.

Anyone know why he requested the trade? It's not like he got a big new contract to go with it. Were the Pats asking him to do things that he didn't want to do?

Nothing concrete. I tend to agree with the folks on here who say he made a "trade me or pay me" bluff, and Belichick called said bluff.

After the trade the Vikings touched up his contract to guarantee they wouldn't Franchise him. I suspect he wanted gave the Patriots the choice of being a locker room issue or doing the same contractual touch up. It's just a guess.

It was pretty clear to anyone who didn't have their deeply tinted Randy glasses on that if he wanted to remain here and be a team first player and see if he could win a ring he'd still be here. That didn't work for him, ergo it couldn't work for Bill.

Bill keeps a sign on the wall that says "If you don't want to be here, you don't have to be here."

For sure.

It was about money. Moss will be without a paycheck next season if theres a lockout. NE wasnt in any hurry to extend with new upfront dollars.

And as of this moment he is in the same identical position with the Vikings.

That's probably makes the most sense out of anything, but with Randy you never know. Hard to imagine a guy still wanting a huge contract after multiple large contracts in a row. When is the point where you say my legacy is more important then buying all my children and their grandchildren vacation homes?

Worst? He would have a hard time topping the move to Oakland.

It paved the way for New England to pick him up on the cheap.

We'll have to see if he's got a silver lining here too, but I doubt that lightning will strike twice.

Besides, Minny to Oakland (Tice to revolving door) wasn't nearly the dropoff that New England to Minny (Belichick to Chilly) has become.

Poor Vikings...first the love boat, and now the fail boat. I have to admit. I thought the Favre collapse was going to happen last year and it held off until the NFCCG. This year is what I thought last year was going to be. You live by the Favre (TD record), you die by the Favre (INT record).

Worse because time is pretty much running out for him in terms of winning a superbowl before he retired.

He left a perfect situation in New England. He left a situation where the QB and HC would never throw him under the bus, always supported him, and most of all, were professional and very serious about the game of football.

Already in Minn, he is seeing that Childress is half the coach BB is and an awful game manager, and he is seeing how undisciplined Favre is and how uncommitted he is to the game plan.

Randy only cares about touches and money, otherwise he takes a lesser salary and less catches to be a decoy and vet prescence on a winner.

Both sides won, NE can win with commited players and Moss gets a QB who takes risks to get him touches, while on his way to getting paid.

Greek tragedy material. Hero has fatal flaw that is his undoing.

Randy wanted a final contract with a big paycheck. Pats were not willing to commit ahead of time, probably being concerned with potential age sharp dropoff plus CBA uncertainty. Pouted a bit off season. But after a stellar training camp performance, Randy hoped that the Pats would change their minds seeing he still had the goods. Maybe BB was even leaning in that direction.

Now comes the fatal flaw. Forgetting or never having learned the lessons from his true Pats team mates and his HC, Randy uncontrollably became more and more obsessed with his missing next contract. Lost it completely in his rambling opening day postgame in his press conference. Still liked BB, Tom & wanted to be a Patriot, Moss took it as a personal affront that others had new contracts and he did not as yet, ironocally all the time repeatedly saying "it's just business" but feeling the opposite. Telling words.

After an initial cooling down after a talk with BB, some thing(s) happened yet again where Randy likely said feature me or trade me with an implied 'or else'. Pats management made the belated decision (better made prior to the draft, but they were hoping for that pony) that they really needed to move Moss and now. It must have been somewhat visible and serious as there was nary a squeak from the locker room over the abrupt trade.

As others have so correctly stated what could have been a wonderfull new home for Randy, had the Favre of 2009 showed up went to hell as the Favre of 2010 showed his age and his penchant for game destroying turn overs. Gone was the chance to rack up mega highlight TDs and stats as the 2009 Favre, his best season in years, threw long to Moss time and again whether or not the situation warranted it. A tragic confluence of events, but not totally unexpected.
