Or Willie MgGinest after 3-4 years, Assante Samuel afdter 2-3 years, very few defensive players hit their stride in the first couple of years, they're learning insteading of reacting, once they've learned then natural ability takes over.

People either need to accept it and get over it and stop posting this every year or start hoping BB is fired soon, because that philosophy has and always will be the same. Bodden is probably the biggest corner BB will have ever added during his time here.

I'm not sure benching Butler would be a good idea. Buffalo is a great shot at a rebound game for him unless they were to bring Andre Reed back.

Because he has tons of ability and if you track our previous top CBs -- Asante and Ty -- they had similar trajectories. In fact, Asante was behind Butler at this point.

But were not comparing Butler to Asante. It's A-R-R-I-N-G-T-O-N vs Butler.

Or Willie MgGinest after 3-4 years, Assante Samuel afdter 2-3 years, very few defensive players hit their stride in the first couple of years, they're learning insteading of reacting, once they've learned then natural ability takes over.

Not everyone can dominate in their second year like Vrabel and Bruschi did.

Not everyone can dominate in their second year like Vrabel and Bruschi did.

Bruschi didn't do anything until his 4th year.

I haven't really seen much of Arrington, but I think it's way too early to be piling on Butler. He didn't have a great game last week but he's still young, he's going to develop, and he's got a lot of potential.

I think Butler stays ahead of Arrington, though maybe they don't play him all the time, mixing in a few series for Arrington at the RCB spot.

The guy I'd really like to see is Wheatley, who may not play until after the bye with his foot injury. He looked solid during the pre-season in limited action.

Even if Arrington starts on Sunday, I think it is too early to give up on Butler. They may be benching Butler as a learning experience. Things aren't looking good now, but who knows a month down the road.
