Boston Celtics vs Orlando Magic Series

Ok now that my cursing rage is over.....

First off, Perkins will be starting in game 6.....

Thibideou has to figure out a defensive scheme for the Orlando Pick N Rolls to keep Jameer from making plays....

I think Joey Crawford should be suspended.....Really Rondo walks to half court CALMLY trying to talk to the official about a call and crawford gets his panties in a bunch and flips out on rondo.....Rondo says something and gets T'd up......REALLY Could the officiating have been anymore obviously one sided?????

The league needs to look at Dwight Howard and all these ******* elbows he keeps throwing....Whether the elbow on Big Baby was intentional or not I have NEVER seen a player throw more elbows in my life than Howard.....You don't seen any other player on the court hitting people with this many elbows....It is absolutely RIDICULOUS.....I really wish we had a thug that we could just take out Howard and his sorry ass......I have had enough of this....

We just need to take a breather, get everyone on the same page and we will win in Boston......I think the culmination of the officiating/injuries/poor play will piss this experienced team off and we will win......

In all honestly Orlando shot lights out with some lucky shots as the shot clock expired and the largest leads they were building is 10 points really....they needed all the help they could get to beat us in Orlando but back in Beantown things will be different....

for anti depression purposes, i really hope you guys don't become the 2nd new england team to blow a 3 games to none series lead in less than a month

that would be horrible

i think if boston can not suffer a massive chokejob, they could even win the finals

they were playing the best of any nba playoff team before these last two losses

Where has the defense gone in the last 2 games? They went from playing dominant D to sitting back and yielding open shots every possession.

I'd expect the league to take away one of Perks Ts. In the long run he'll just get another before the series is over anyways. He can't help himself but they can deal with that down the road.

I still expect they will win game 6.

Re: KontradictioN on Pierce - his act every time he falls rolling around and writhing in pain like he's been shot long since passed the point where anyone buys it. I think it is the 3rd time in the playoffs he has acted as if he had a season ending injury only to miss no time.

Daniels is reported to have a concussion as well.
I'd love to put a guy like Scalabrine into the game just to take a hard elbow at Howard. Let him feel what it's like...

-Jamman

In all fairness, Howard catches more elbows than anybody in the NBA. That comes with the position he plays.

The Finals a couple of years ago where he was carried off the court in tears only to sprint right back out a few minutes later was one of the most ridiculous things I've ever seen.

Sorry, guys. I know you love the Celts but Paul Pierce fakes injuries out the wazoo. .

Couldnt agree more. he makes me sick with that. And Howard cant help it sometimes with his elbows, the guy has wings for shoulders. Stay outta the way

Yes, the announcers keep saying that - but I don't see it. I've watched them play a fair amount this year, and I've set to see Howard face the type of physicality he dishes out, or take any elbows. Especially not to the face, given his height advantage. On the flip side, Howard is intentionally careless with his elbows so as to intimidate and clear space.

As for the ref'n last nite - I gotta be honest, if the Celts win Game 6 with the help of some shady officiating, then I might start buying into the things Donaghy says about game manipulation. They had Donaghy on EEI this morning, and I guess he's been about 90% right in saying how certain games were going to go down - including saying the Magic would win by double digits last nite with the help of suspect officiating. Basically he said the NBA wants as long a series possible while ensuring the outcome they want. Now that its 6 games, he says the refs will control the game towards Bostons favor. Take the Cavs series - the officiating was horribly one-sided toward the Cavs for the first several games, but once it became apparent Lebron wasn't either physically or mentally ready to take that team to the Finals, the Celts started getting all the calls. And it isn't always blatant things - it's very subtle things, like who they are calling fouls on and when. The refs can completely swing a game based upon who they are letting fight for position in the post, and who they are blowing the whistle on. Or who they call moving picks on (Howard, Gortat, KG and Perk all do this non-stop) and who they don't. Especially the subtle things like calling a couple cheap fouls on Rondo - it completely changes the game. Even when a team wins a game by 10-20 points, what people don't get is that it started with certain calls that completely changed the face of the game (like Perk getting tossed).

It's frustrating to watch - but these refs are either consciously or subconsciously setting a tone for any given game so that - so far - they have produced the outcomes the NBA would've liked. Coincidence? I friggin hope so, b/c I'd hate to start to think I'm watching the WWE.

Well for one, you don't have any close up or coach's tape on the games. There's a lot of stuff that goes on under that rim that the cameras don't catch. As someone that played Center when he played basketball, I can tell you that it's the most physical position in the game. Any time you go up for a rebound, you're catching someone's elbow, hand, or fist. Anytime you try to box your man out, you're catching any one of those to your back. Anytime you go up to try to lay it in, you're catching a hand or an elbow. You have to remember that these guys spend the entire game jockeying for position. When you do that, you're fighting off other men who are basically your size and, when that happens, you're going to catch all of those elbows, hands, and fists. The announcers say it because it's true. Shaq, Yao, hell even Perkins, could tell you the same thing. These guys get elbowed more than anybody else in the game. IMO, if you don't like Howard's elbows then throw one back.

Can't argue with this. Pretty well stated and seems to be true.

Well I stayed outta the thread last night because regardless of how I felt there was huge emotion involved in anything I'd post.

Today I'm of the opinion that we would have been beaten anyways because we couldn't stop Nelson.

Still though the officiating was just horrendously one sided last night. I'm still stunned by the second technical on Perkins but it didn't stop there with the Magic getting so many huge calls go in their favour. I mean Nelson went talking back and he didn't get t'd up for it. The amout of hard hits on Rondo, what happened to Big Baby, the hit on Marquis Daniels and he inexplicably got called for a foul.

As for Howard, he got away with an awful lot last night. He cannot be swingly his elbows around wildly, even if he it doesn't look like he means it, well it just happens too much so he is being very careless with them at the very least.

Personally if it was my call those referees would never be in charge of another game.

Howard did get away with quite a bit, but that elbow on Big Baby was uninentional. That's just what happens down there. It goes with the territory.

I also played Center my entire B-ball career and I say that what you say is true BUT elbows/forearms to the side/back/front are different from elbows to the face/head....I am not going to say that Sheed/Perkins don't jab Howard with elbows here and there but not to the face and head.....Howard loves to get his chicken wings up high and hit people in the face/head area.....That is what KG was so pissed about in game 4 when Howard came down the floor and hit KG with a forearm to the face so KG slaps his arm away and gets a T....The officials have to know this is going on and just aren't calling it for some reason...hmmmm.....Plus when Howard gets the ball and lowers his shoulder into the defender to displace him IT IS A ******* OFFENSIVE FOUL....They killed Perkins with those last night which in turn lead to his frustration and then the BS ejection.....Something needs to be done or we will get screwed....

I know they're different. I'm just of the opinion that, instead of crying to the officials about it, KG/Sheed/Perkins/Big Baby/whoever else, should go about "accidentally" dishing out some hard elbows of their own to Howard's face.

Oh I totally agree.....But I think what will happen is that the Celts will get caught and get a Flagarant or get thrown out for it.....I wish we had Legarette Blount to send in and punch him in the face.....:D

I agree completely - for all the talk about Boston being a physical team, where has it been? The only intimidating presence on this team is Perk. KG is not going to scare anybody. Sheed is a good defender, but no physical presence at all, and Baby, forget it.

Frankly, I would've had Shelden Williams come in and throw a bow right to Lebron's face on a drive last series to let him know that all the illegal BS he does on his drives to the lane might be OK with the refs & the NBA, but not by the Celts.

This team needs a goon. It has two relatively big enough guys who sit and do nothing on the bench (Sheed, Scal) - why we don't use one of them to throw out some cheapshots is beyond me. Screw the high road - if the league isn't going to police these things, and let their superstars get away with all kinds of crap, then the teams have to take matters into their own hands. Letting Howard flail away without repercussion led to Baby's concussion, which looked like one that could keep him out a while.

You might get your wish because I don't think big baby will be back for a while so I think Sheldon will get some PT next game......Hopefully he has watched enough of this crap going on and puts an end to it.....I would love to have Scal dressing for the next game and come in.....He is like a Verajao from the cavs......A pain in the arse defender that will hustle and just get under your skin........

Agreed - Scal has some usefulness against the Magic b/c of his size & hustle. He needs to be dressed tomorrow night if Baby can't go.

Celtics center Kendrick Perkins’ technical foul with 36.1 seconds remaining in the first half of Game 5 has been rescinded.

NBA rescinds Perkins 'T'; can play in Game 6 - NBA - Yahoo! Sports

This is a link to the technical being rescinded.....I think they should have rescinded both T's he received as the first one he got was because his hand slipped helping rondo up.....But they decided to rescind the 2nd one....Anyways he can play which is HUGE with Big Baby out....Also they upgraded Pierce's foul on Reddick to a flagrant.....I figured they would do that......

Ok now that my cursing rage is over.....

Thibideou has to figure out a defensive scheme for the Orlando Pick N Rolls to keep Jameer from making plays....

I think Joey Crawford should be suspended.....Really Rondo walks to half court CALMLY trying to talk to the official about a call and crawford gets his panties in a bunch and flips out on rondo.....Rondo says something and gets T'd up......REALLY Could the officiating have been anymore obviously one sided?????

i agree...Howard has been mauling people with no penalty. I say suit up Scal and have him fould the crap out of Howard. We need a thug!
