The Jets suck (merged)

Truth is, Andy knows deep down the Jets are good, or else he wouldn't be spending all this time debating. Why would he care about a ****ty team? This contradicts everything he's posting.

Three, but who's counting?

Of course. He was spectacular in those games. He really showed that he can carry his team when the going gets tough. Classic stuff from the "The Future" Mark Sanchize!

God, I just can't wait for the season to begin.

While the Jets certainly have talent, this forum has been significant time debating over a team like the Broncos... hardly an awesome team.

No offense here, but the "why" is irrelevant to my post, because of what I was responding to. He didn't belong in the NFL last season, and Carroll was right about him.

Now, moving forward, the question will be his ability (or lack thereof) to improve. I've got my doubts about the kid, but time will tell.

No offense taken. This is all in the spirit of debate.

The reason I ask why is because as a Patriots fan you have an anti Jets bias. With said anti Jets bias (this thread being a perfect example), I need...sorry...I would very much like you to qualify your reasonings behind the dislike of Jets players. I need to know if you can rationalize about Jets players when qualifying their talent/play/ability. Otherwise, there is no reason to have a discussion.

Saying someone was terrible because they were terrible says nothing.

Now about m'boy Sanchez: No rookie in NFL history played better in the playoffs than Sanchez did last season....He proved he belonged.

I believe that he showed vast improvement during the playoffs. The (playoff) numbers back me up. Please explain your doubts about his improvement. My humble opinion is Pats fans in general are just wishing he fails more than anything.

Look for it yourself. I don't know if any of those threads from last year were 280+ posts, but that wouldn't be expected. They aren't a rival in our division. But I can tell you that this forum has spent significant time discussing other teams. Hell, just look at some of the threads about Big Ben.

On top of that, this board has had 10 page threads on the Jets even in their lay years when they sucked. This is really nothing new. On the flipside, you guys are clearly still worried about the Patriots. If you weren't, you wouldn't be spending hours upon hours powering this thread back to the top.

People people people... come on now. Most of you are forgetting and getting away from the fundamental issue in this thread. It doesn't matter who coaches the Jets, it doesn't matter who plays for the Jets, it doesn't matter what performances the Jets put out in season 2009/2010 and will put up in season 2010/2011 and it sure as hell doesn't matter who supports the Jets. The Jets plain and simply suck!

I'd say that I've been pretty even-handed in this thread, and have pretty clearly just been having fun with it (see my posts with Gunnails). However, since you really seem to want to know about my take on Sanchez:

Arm strength is less than advertised

Struggles to complete passes downfield outside the numbers

Excellent scrambler when under only occasional pressure, but folds like an accordion when the pressure occurs with any frequency

Came into the league with excellent footwork, throwing motion and other assorted fundamentals, which means that his improvements will not come from those areas

Poor decision maker who got away with a lot of mistakes last season because of the teams he was playing against. The Houston game is a perfect example. The Texans should have destroyed the Jets because Sanchez was gifting passes to them, but a Houston team that has a tendency to take the gaspipe did exactly that.

Absolutely right. The off-season is so boring though.

The Jets will win the division.

Based on what? He has an above average arm.

Struggles to complete passes downfield outside the numbers
See the pass to Braylon in the AFCC. Also, the pass to Braylon in the MNF Miami game. And the pass to Cotchery in Foxborough. Come on. All long TD passes outside the numbers.

Excellent scrambler when under only occasional pressure, but folds like an accordion when the pressure occurs with any frequency
See TD pass #2 in AFCC Game to Dustin Keller. Gets absolutely drilled by Mathis and delivers a strike.

Came into the league with excellent footwork, throwing motion and other assorted fundamentals, which means that his improvements will not come from those areas
No biggie, as QB expert Phil Simms said Mark Sanchez had better footwork than ANY QB in the whole league, before he was even drafted!

Excuses, excuses.

News based discussion threads, rivalry based threads(like this), or gameday discussion threads?

Rivalry based threads. Obviously news threads and game threads will get the most posts, but the Jets are talked about, by far, more than any other team.

You struggle with that whole "reading comprehension" thing, don't you?

Struggles to complete passes downfield outside the numbers

does not mean that he finds it impossible to complete even a single pass downfield outside the numbers.

More reading comprehension issues for you, I see.

No biggie, as QB expert Phil Simms said Mark Sanchez had better footwork than ANY QB in the whole league, before he was even drafted!

Which, as I noted, means that his improvement won't come from improving those things.

Seriously, do you even attempt comprehension?

Excuses, excuses.

No, an evaluation, requested by a Jets fan who seems at least capable of reasonable dialogue, unlike yourself.

Surely you Jets.. or Jest? The Jets weren't even relevant before last season in any corner of the NFL.

How am I lacking reading comprehension? In your post, you stated your "take on Sanchez" to which I responded with evidence that suggested the contrary.
