Can someone wake up BB ? This is unbelievable !
I'm sure he's wide awake right now and thinking to himself "there's no Fing way I would pay Brandon more than Moss and Welker".

Breaking news. Patriots have qb tom Brady.

Wow

I'm speechless

I simply cannot believe the incompetence the FO of this team displays. 2 second round picks for abilities Marshall has seems like the most obvious thing ever.

Sure, he has issues, but if he can straighten out he has a TON to offer. I simply cannot believe the Pats not only failed again but let him go to a division rival when our own recieving corps is in such a laughable state

It's doubtful the Pats can fail any harder but I guess we'll see.

Jeez there's alot of patronising tossers on this forum today.

And therein lies the problem.

You should be building a team, not stock-piling talent.

The Pats won the division last year (again), the Jets and the Dolphins didn't. They had to get better just to stand a chance of winning the division, because gift-wrapped spots for the Playoffs come around very rarely.

I'll tell you what son, give Bob Kraft a ring, tell him the coaching staff and management don't know what they're doing, and you'll do the job for a tenth of the cost.

You obviously know way more than BB and co does.

The year before the phins won the division, last year, the Pats split their division games with the Dolphins and Jets (which means they were not that much better than those two teams).

God there's alot of patronising tossers on this forum today.

You should be able to understand this with every talented veteran that is off the board for the taking,it becomes less and less likely the Pats can add any quality veteran to the team who is not considered a discarded JAG or too old added in June and July...(Burgess,Chad Brown,Galloway for example in recent years)

I think we are starting to realize this offseason has not changed at all from the previous ones and its upsetting some fans who had visions of granduer ...

However I am not as surprised at this team staying the way it has for the past 2 years, what I am surprised is the amount of talent the other teams have added on thier roster and it makes this team look less and less like a threat for the division with every surprising high profiled player trade headline that comes up in this division.

I think the team could be forced to doing a deal for a RFA with some kind of deal for who knows who?,there just does not seem to be many good players left out there in FA to add to this team to make a difference so if they are to be competitive they might have to to an RFA trade before the deadline that nears.

It looks like rookies exploding on the scene or bust for the Pats this year.

How do you put a person on ignore? Can it be done?

this is a good move by the fish they will now pay him 8 or 9 million a year with about 20 million up front he will now stop talking and play football.

i know there are lot's of people on the bord who are kind of pissed that the pats did not make this move. and i can under stand that we see the jets and fish picking up young NFL stars will the pats are waiting on rookies to help this team win.

the only thing i can say is haveing a WR core that makes 30 million. is realy not a good way to build a team IMO. brady, can throw for 70 TD's and the pats still wont win a SB they have to build the defense. then they can get back to winning SB's with brady geting the lead and the defense holding it.

Yes they do. I saw an awesome picture of him last weekend sunning in Paris with Gisele and his son. They were there to celebrate his son's "four month birthday" according to the article. They are a beautiful family.

Sitting pretty with 4 top 53 picks in a very deep draft is not a bad place to be.

calm down chicken littles.......

The chance of 1 of those picks contributing like Marshall could have is slim. He is an animal and produced the numbers he did with sub par QBs

The end of the Ted Ginn era

Can we at least have Ginn? He is better than Galloway, younger (25), and a good returner. I know he is not a very good receiver, but I would take him on our squad in a second.

While I think Marshall is an immense talent, this is the same guy whose team suspended him for the last game while they were still (mathematically) in the playoff hunt. What does that tell you exactly about this guy?

EDIT Also saw this on another site:

From Armando salgueros Miami herald writeup:

I'm told the sides have already set parameters on a deal that will make Marshall the highest-paid wide receiver in the NFL. The highest paid WR in 2009 was Larry Fitzgerald, who earned $10,893,332.

Marshall's deal will average at least $10 million per season and also could include guaranteed monies exceeding $30 million.

---------
I wouldn't risk that much on the guy without seeing how he fits in on our team first.

Denver salvaged what it could for a player who was never comfortable in Denver and who has issues that could lead to suspension. Miami got one of the best wide receivers in the game. The Chicken Littles got to scream about the sky falling and one move for a wideout magically overcoming all that team's other deficiencies and allowing it to leapfrog the Patriots. MoLewisrocks absolutely clowned himself, yet again, this time about the death of a human being.

Interesting thread all around.

If by interesting you meant insufferable, I agree.

One has to wonder what Tom Brady is thinking about right now with all these transactions at the WR spot in the division with the two main rivals having some real talent while he is looking at Moss,Stanback,Aiken,Edelman and Crumpler as his targets and HOPING the draft does not produce Chad Jackson jr for his team.

Anybody who doesn't think that this is a great deal for the Dolphins is kidding themselves. Henne gave us problems last year and that was with a stable of Bess and Hartline. Add to that Marshall (who shredded us in Denver) and that running game, and they're going to be hard to handle on offense. On defense, I love the punting. People mention the problems they have going into this draft, but those problems aren't any different than last year. Even with Ferguson (who was on his last legs), they needed a NT. Look for them to try to acquire Cody in this year's draft. Even with Porter and Taylor, they still needed one to two OLB's. Those two were pretty clearly on their last legs as well. They acquired Dansby to try to solve the problems at ILB and even with Crowder last year, they needed another ILB. Just because they let Taylor and Porter go doesn't mean their problems haven't changed. It just means that it's forced them to act this year. The Dolphins are a better team now. To deny that is to be in complete denial. I sincerely hope the Patriots have a slam dunk of a draft. We're going to need it.

Of course it shouldn't. But the sad fact is we live in a world where it does. And Marshall reportedly even engaged in some gun smack talking with the eventual shooter which reportedly led to his going to get one...and returning and eventually shooting into the car he believed Marshall to be occupying...and ruining a lot of lives. Yet all Marshall seemingly cared about afterwards was getting his contract redone. Had he said he wanted/needed that to primarily support the family of the innocent victim of his idoicy he might have redeemed himself to some extent. But he hardly ever mentions that night except in the context of how aweful it was for him...and how he really wanted out of Denver as a result...unless, of course, they were willing to pull the Brinks truck up to his house.

When he starts blowing off meetings and acting out in Miami, we'll see if Tuna still thinks he's worth the risk...

That's an assumption on your part.

People deal with tragedies in different ways.

Well, if Brady values McDaniels opinion as much as he says publically, he probably never wanted Marshall on the team in the first place. He might not have wanted Holmes either if he knows people in the Steelers' lockerroom who thought Holmes was a cancer.

I still expect the Pats to sign one or two of the decent free agents currently available at WR or could be available after the draft (Coles, Furrey, Holt, etc.) to bolster the #2 spot and/or depth.
