Guys, by no means am I trying to downplay the talent of the Jets. They are a good football team with the potential to be great. And I'm not trying to downplay the need for the Patriots to make improvements. We've got a long way to go.
We aren't crap though. With the way our season ended and the way the Jets season kept going, it's easy to forget that we aren't a terrible football team, and the Jets are not the greatest team ever.
It's easy to forget that 31-14 score in Week 11 last season. We forget that Sanchez had 4 INTs to compliment his 8 completions against our TERRIBLE defense. We forget that the Pats offense put up 410 yards against the Jets VAUNTED defense.
All I'm saying is that we aren't suddenly the Rams because of a disheartening playoff loss. The Jets aren't a team that blew us out twice to go along with improving this offseason.
Again, I'm not shooting down the possibility of a great Jets football team this year, just as I am not assuming everything will be ok for the Pats. All I'm saying is that we shouldn't ignore the highs of the Pats or the lows of the Jets.
If the Colts don't throw in the towel in Week 16, it's possible the Jets lose their 8th game of the season and don't make the playoffs. If Kevin Faulk doesn't bobble the catch against the Colts, we're 11-5.
The Jets will be good this season. But we aren't going to be terrible this season. It's not time to freak out.
