OT: Steelers ship Santonio to the Jets

Re: Steelers ship Santonio to the Jets

Personally, I have to wonder why the Steelers were willing to trade him for so little. . . .

Now THERE'S the interesting part. Only the Jets were willing to pony up as much as a 5th for a guy who, based on his age and production, should have been worth much more.

On the face of it, this is a tremendous bargain for the Jets that should make them better. Yet Pittsburgh obviously wanted the guy gone in the worst way. For all of the drama that Holmes has gone through publicly, there must be even more behind the scenes.

Re: Steelers ship Santonio to the Jets

There is no way Jets can possibly become better and ovecome the pats. It's not like they were capable of competing for AFC title.
Even if they got Boldin, Brandon Marshall, Jason Taylor, they are still unworthy of competing against Pats. BB is such a good coach he could beat Jets with the BC squad. Plus he will have the super weapon Tebow, which he may draft in the 1st round. Tebow alone is better than Holmes, Marshall, and Taylor combined.

In BB you trust. Wait, what's that sound? The window of opp being closed by BB the GM.

Never said that. Never said that they were not better than the Pats either. I don't make those type of assertions until the preseason or at least after the draft.

As for the Pats, unitl they go a season without at least 10 wins, you should stop predicting the window is closed.

Re: Steelers ship Santonio to the Jets

This is a joke, right?

With no Welker next year, you could make a case the Jets receiving trio is more deadly. And I'm not joking. We saw how dangerous NE's receivers were against a terrible Baltimore secondary.

He went for a 5th? A four game suspension isn't nothing but there must be more going on with Holmes than we know about for no one to be willing to give up more than a 5th for him. There are plenty of teams that don't care about character (Raiders, Bengals stand out to me) and they still only got a 5th for very good receiver? Wow.

I am officially getting worried about the Jets. Like it or not they now have a lot of weapons on offense and defense. If Sanchez only sucks half as much as he did last season, and it would be hard not to, they are going to be a real competitor in 2010.

Now I still think we will be able to beat them twice, but at this point I wouldn't be surprised if we have a couple of real battles against the Jets next year.

Re: Steelers ship Santonio to the Jets

Dumbest post of the year.....this post makes Ramon seem like a fan favorite here

Moss - better than Edwards

Holmes - better than edlemen

Cotch = 10x better than Aiken

Until Welker returns, or the Patriots find a WR1a, the Jets wide receiver corps will be much, much better than what New England's got out on the field. It's not even close.

Of course, a suspension of Holmes could lessen the number of games that gap exists.

I'd feel a lot better if Josh did his mentor a solid and lets the Pats "steal" Marshall. Otherwise, you are right....Jets wr's are much better, as are the rb's and o-line. Defense is far superior to the Pats. Yup, on paper, Jets are better. Face it.

Re: Steelers ship Santonio to the Jets

Pats gave up a 3rd and a 5th for Burgess. He also was signed for only one year.

Aiken and Edelman over Cotchery and Edwards ......Put down the Beer and go to bed, you're hallucinating

Re: Steelers ship Santonio to the Jets

I'd still take Moss-Edelman-Aiken over Holmes-Cotchery-Edwards....but not by much.

I'd take Moss-Welker- Edelman over Holmes-Edwards-Cotchery, but I can't say the current roster as consistuted is better. I am not a huge Braylon Edwards fan, but Holmes isn't that much of a drop off from Moss and Edelman is still unproven to judge and Aiken is a mediocre #3 WR.

Agreed. Chemistry, which the Jets had in spades last year, could become a major problem with some of the toxic assets they have added LT, Cromartie, and Holmes aren't exactly known for their team spirit. I think as Pats fans witnessed last year a bad attitude or 7 can really kill a team.

Yeah, but the Burgess deal was awesome! /homer

Re: Steelers ship Santonio to the Jets

Wow, you are that much of a homer? Just in case you missed it, Aiken sucks and Edlemen has yet to prove he's a true NFL player.

As it stands, the Jets have the better wr corps.

Moss - better than Edwards

Holmes - better than edlemen

Cotch = 10x better than Aiken

What the hell are you talking about? can you read my response to the question you quoted or do you need assistance?

A third WR like Branch, L. Evans or even Owens will be added. We've been here before, than, like magic, Moss and Welker appeared.

That said, the Jet trio on paper looks better but not by a lot. You're going to have to "prove it works" before I'll say that the trio is a lot better.

Re: Steelers ship Santonio to the Jets

They're being aggressive, you have to give them credit for that. However, the personalities they are adding could blow up in their faces.
This is bull. It's never happened.

Yes, I can read, and I edited the post after I realized that I quoted the wrong person.

ROTHLISBERGER, I wonder if this is getting out in front of bad news. The GA DA gives his decision on charging him later today.

Speaking of Josh. His heart just sunk. The trade value for Brandon Marshall just went in the toilet. If the Jets traded for Holmes for a 5th, how much is Marshall worth? He doesn't have a 4 game suspension or longer hanging over his head, but he has a lot more baggage. McDaniels might be regretting trading Marshall to Seattle for their second now. Not his fault since he had no way of knowing that Holmes would be traded for a fifth.

ESPNs Legal analyst who very good at getting inside info says Ben is getting off (poor placement of words, I know - no pun intended)
