Moving goalposts much? You said that nobody who leaves the Patriots does very well- does it take 3 or 4 pro bowls to be considered 'doing well' now? If that's how ridiculous you have to make your arguments to hold up your flimsy point, then you've already lost it.

In Bledsoe's first year in Buffalo, he threw for 4300 yards, 24 TDs, 15 INTs, and an 86 QB rating. Anyone without an axe to grind would consider that 'doing well'. And that was his career high in yards and 1.7 points off of his career high in QB rating, so saying that he was nowhere near his prime is just stupid.

Belichick decided to switch to Brady because Brady was a better QB, regardless of what year it was. It had absolutely nothing to do with Bledsoe being past his prime, and was all about Bledsoe not having the skill-set that Belichick desired. If you're going to have an attitude, you should probably have a clue what you're talking about first.

You just admitted that Law had at least one 'real good year', so that's another guy who did pretty well.

Vinatieri hit multiple clutch FGs in the regular season and the playoffs to help the Colts win the SB the year that he left. That's exactly what they brought him over to do.

As far as 'worshipping at Hobbs' feet', get a clue. I've pretty firmly established how I feel about Hobbs: A pretty good CB who was overmatched against a lot of #1 receivers. If he's your #1 CB, your secondary is in trouble. It's hardly his fault, though, that he was asked to play a role that he wasn't ideally suited for. He did everything that he could to help the team, including playing through injuries that other guys would never have played with. And I fully expect that Philly fans will boo the hell out of Hobbs- they booed Santa Claus, FFS.

What makes you think Wilfork will stay healthy whereas Seymour won't? Over the last couple of years, Seymour has had exactly one significant injury (his knee, which he sustained while playing fullback), and last year demonstrated that he's back to 100%. Seymour's 29, btw- on what planet is that considered old?

Heh, you didn't make a single coherent point throughout your two posts, which is pretty much what I expected after your stellar start.

Excellent analysis of Hobbs, IMO. As I stated in the other thread, I am going to agree w/ you, Nash, and Deus here. He was a solid 2 or 3 at worst, and should not be treated at though he was D.Starks. It's a damn shame that he'll be remembered here for last yr's poor secondary and pass rush.

Re: Hobbs: "guys were faking injuries"

holy sh*t! this might be a record. We have two threads bashing Hobbs going at the same time. :deadhorse: :ugh:

Yep, and they're on the same article and not merged.

Well, i don't claim to know anything, but we're two injuries away from missing Hobbs. Lets face it, historically we always have alot injuries in the secondary. If Springs, Bodden, and even Wilhite have injuries, we're looking at Wheatley, and Butler as the starters. Based off of how they look so far, that doesnt make me feel comfortable going into the playoffs. I wouldve felt much better with Hobbs as a backup, just in case. Not to mention, we wouldnt be concerned at all about KR. Lets just hope we make it through this year with the defense staying healthy.

Re: Hobbs: "guys were faking injuries"

Hobbs really should shut his mouth. Who the hell did he think he was? He sucked. He was the worst corner on the field, IMHO. How many times did we see mediocre Qbs pick on his arse. What a loser. He's making enemies today.
I'm sure that there are a few Patriot players that are not happy with him right now. You got traded. Get over it and move on. Philly is not paying you to run your mouth.
it's amazing that there are actual NE fans these days who respect rivers more than hobbs now haha

man what a crazy world we live in

Lets look at why he got traded in the first place.

We signed two guys who have shown they can be a #1 guy in the past in Bodden and Springs. Drafted a guy in the second rd who we didn't think would make it much past our 34. And we have two guys from last years draft that showed skills as a rookie despite their injuries.

We got rid of him for something because there was a chance we couldn't fit him on the roster not because he completely sucked yes if he could have made the leap from average starter to more we wouldn't have got rid of him but we have alot of raw talent (rooks and sophmores) that has more upside and two guys who are/seemed like better starters (Bodden and Springs).

to me people seem to hate on him because he never progressed and his rookie year we all thought we had this great young talent then injuries derailed him and made it seem as though he regressed.

Re: Hobbs: "guys were faking injuries"

OR are u gutless enough to make accuse others of something and fall short..I used to like him..but now he's basically trash..Grow a pair ellis OR SHUT UP!! Name them...or are u just running your mouth some..KNOWING you don't have teh spine to REALLy say what u wish to....too bad you weren't the one benched..dancing cretin..

Yep, and they're on the same article and not merged.

We are well aware of it. For your information, we don't merge threads when Ian later starts a thread on a same subject. If it has a lightbulb icon, it doesn't get merged.

He's the owner of the website and pays money out of his OWN pocket to keep this site up and running, while whiners like you have free use of the site, do not donate and complain.

It's his prerogative. That's basic understanding.

Re: Hobbs: "guys were faking injuries"

Its classless to call out players for past injuries that he had no diagnosis on. Its classless to say this kind of thing to the media, all the while pimping himself up. I think he has great speed, and fluid hips and is a good corner. But there is no need to say that kind of thing.

He isn't a patriot any longer, so I have no use for him.....especially if he is going to bash players that might still be on our roster as soft without manning up for any of it. Call a guy out or something....being vague about it makes the trainers, coaches and team sound like they are shadow working liars.

bottom line, like I said....He needs to STFU, handle his biz, and everything should be okay.

Ok, now you're just not making any sense at all. Not even a little. Sorry.
I don't necessarily agree with Holy Diver's assertion, but it makes perfect sense...

Re: Hobbs: "guys were faking injuries"

Ya Deltha was better

Not to mention Starks... Duane took home $3.5M the season Hobbs had to step in as a rookie nursing some injuries to boot and right the freakin' backfield ship that included eventual pro bowler Samuel and projected pro bowler Wilson...

Which reminds me, anyone seen Shawn Springs? His signing bonus equaled old Ellis entire five year base contract (before escalators he...earned).

Just sayin'...

Re: Hobbs: "guys were faking injuries"

I like it when people fake it. Makes me feel less inadequate.

Yeah, my wife's ego is fragile, so I fake it a lot.

Re: Hobbs: "guys were faking injuries"

More and more i continue to gain respect for Philip Rivers......

Re: Hobbs: "guys were faking injuries"

Too bad he didnt fake an injury before the superbowl

yeah, but he sure did fake covering Plaxico on that TD...

Re: Hobbs: "guys were faking injuries"

Ellis said about a dozen positive things about the Patriots and BB in multiple articles before this, so I wouldn't dismiss this so quickly and just demonize him.

He clearly did play hurt and was a warrior when he was here.

I also believe what he says about certain players not playing through pain, and we know he obviously wasn't referring to Brady.

everything you say might indeed be true, but it still doesn't give him the right to say these things about his former team, be it the Raiders or the Patriots.

That and he was scheduled to make $2.55m in base this year.

Re: Hobbs: "guys were faking injuries"

There was nothing wrong with his comments.

He says that some guys were pulling down big checks and "faking" injuries. You're right if, having said that, he's willing to step up and name names; at the least, he should pick up the phone and tell the guys he was talking about that he was referring to them. But otherwise, it's a cheap, anonymous shot against a locker room that is generally regarded as being filled with warriors.

Re: Hobbs: "guys were faking injuries"

We want them to be honest and open until they say something we don't like and then we want them to STFU...

The guys he was talking about know who they are, or hopefully were, and so do their teamates and coaches.

Fans here say a lot worse stuff about eny number of players every day, based on absolutely zero knowledge, and it's no big deal because they're entitled to their opinion as well as the expression of it...

Former players, not so much apparently...

Why anyone here would expect loyalty from Ellis after they way he was treated here, including by a fan base and media who made him a whipping boy for all manner of disappointments that were almost entirely beyond his control, is beyond me.

From Reiss this morning:

Hobbs also said he felt he deserved a contract extension in New England and if he wasn’t traded “there were going to be problems there.’’ That remark seemed curious considering he was due to make $2.2 million in 2009, a generous pact for a player of his caliber.

Poor Hobbs, getting whacked from all angles now. :bricks:

It's often said that you need a healthy ego to play on an island as a cornerback, but I thought that's only if you don't give guys a 10-yard cushion. Hobbs could have stood to swallow a little more humble pie when he was in town. No question he was a team player while he was here, but that's what got him as far as he has. A little more objectivity (or at least silence) would spare him his current embarrassment.
