Tom Brady Was the Most-Hit QB in the League, from 2006-2007

Another question could this be a function of so many short screens and short passes when the let the rushers outrun the play??

More the opposite I would think. Slow developing, longer pass plays require the QB to stand in the pocket under pressure and make the right throw before getting hit.

Goes back to my initial point, what do they mean by hit?? Is a shove a hit?? Sometimes on screens when the defenders are let go, QB's often get a shove.. does this qualify as a hit??

That's something that Maverick can't or won't tell you. If he starts defining what a hit really is, then it takes away from his argument.

And he's saying that QBs that drop back the most usually get hit the most. I agree with that stance even though I still think that the left side of the line (particularly at the tackle position) still needs some help.

How do you propose to 'help' the left side of the offensive line? Light has been a perennial starter at LT and was drafted with a 2nd rounder. The only guy who would have been an upgrade would have been Clady but we would not have gotten Mayo in that case. Mankins is a 1st round pick who has played at a very high level.

There's not much more to do to 'help' the left side except to run a double tight end offense of some sort, but considering the personnel, it would be wiser to take advantage of the mismatches that Moss/Welker/Galloway present to a defense.

That is my point, unless this is defined it does not mean all that much..

I know that. You know that. Several other posters pointed it out to Maverick to no avail..

There is an old saying.. "You can try and lead a donkey to water, but that doesn't mean he'll go..even if he's dying of thirst.. You know why? Cause he's an arse...."

You lost all credibility with this statement

Unfortunately, there were far too many people on this board and the media who thought the same thing about Culpepper after Brady went down. I still get chills thinking about all the moronic "Sign Culpepper" threads on this board mid-September last year. I would have rather seen "Bring Zolak out of retirement" threads than those.

What are we talking about here, maybe 5-10 hits over 2 years? Show ALL the numbers for all the TEAMS (the point is muddled when you compare a QB playing 32 to one playing 21)
The total is barely over 3 a game. What is the average? The least?
IT would seem that if BB decided that football was now a game played by ladies and all that mattered was not getting hit, that number in the 80s would be in the 70s.
Are we really saying scrap the offense that scored the most points in the NFL over those 2 years to eliminate one hit every 3 games on Brady, without even defining what that hit means? Is it a shove? Is it knocked to the ground? It can't, from what i can tell, include sacks, and since Brady is one of the least sacked, when you add THOSE HITS to HITS he probably isnt the most hit.
This thread just seems to be a fruitless exercise in using undeveloped data to make a point that probably is not even accurate to begin with.

I still have nightmares about those threads, but I'm not sure Zolak wouldve made me feel better. Maybe Scott Secules, but not Zolak

I agree that if we want to reduce the hits on Brady, that we'll have to run a different offense with more tight ends and RB's involved, and with more protection. Our WR spread does have a mismatch, but it shouldn't be our bread and butter, but rather something we pull out when we need it.

I posted one like this a year and a half ago and I got a few stern rebuttals like this one.

Oops. Looks like he got caught pulling "facts" out of his arse.

You do know this is the same offense that that rohan davey was the back up QB in right? I never said Cullpeper could start for us nor did I say I wish he was on the team. Culpeper is an NFL QB. He obviously is doing something right. He can run the Offense. So can Tom Brady, Matt Guiterez and Matt cassel and Brian Hoyer etc. Can he run it better than any of them? Who knows. As for Rob, Find one article or statement from BB that says he runs his offense simmilar to Urban Meyers. I bet you cant because they are diffrent. The word Spread is one of the few things they have in common. Urban Meyer runs an Option-Spread based upon the speed at RB that they have. If you have watched UF recently you would know this. If you look at OU's spread offense it is much more simmilar compared to NE's. All you have to do is look at the Pass/Run Ratios.

In the hit stats, most definitely.

Saying Cullpepper could RUN the offense, is like saying I could perform open heart surgery.

Not really because that is from watching football games, not reading a stat you posted but did not define.

As soon as you start playing football making decisions based on the likelihood of injury instead of the success of your strategy, you are done, finished, and posting on a message board whining about play calling.

I know. He can't. He couldn't even run Minnesota's offense once Moss was gone (check out his stats from the half-season without Moss before his knee got blown out)

Not really because that is from watching football games.

Are you saying your eyes are better than a very straight-forward statistic?

From multiple other viewer's eyes, Brady has been pounded much more than he used to the past few years.

Would those viewers be able to give us the "hit" numbers for the years prior to 2006, by any chance?
