Gotta give credit to Mayo and any others who shed some light on Delmas. He is my new number one safety on my board. He reminds me of Bob Sanders because of his hits. He has good speed and hopefully he can play in the box. Well here is my list...

1) Louis Delmas-FS/SS WMU
2) William Moore-SS/FS Mizzou
3) Patrick Chung-SS Oregon
4) Rashad Johnson-FS Alabama
5) Chip Vaughn-SS Wake

Just want to know some of your thoughts on my list and maybe your own lists.

I like the list.

From the Pats point of view:

Well... he's liable to go higher then #47, and no way would I use #34 on him.

He is a FS, but IMO the two guys we have are FS. He also didn't do well in the Wunderlich, so that's hanging over his head as well.

Sorry Tank is a myth as far as I am concerned. We need a SS that can stick, and get with one of the 3rd round picks. That would seem to be Chip Vaughn. He also seems to offer the biggest bang for the buck.

Delmas is my favorite as well, he has the highest ceiling imo. I like everyone on that list and would cheer for anyone of them on draft day. I wouldn't be suprised to see Darcel McBath's name called in the 3rd or 4th round either. Very productive player who hasn't got a lot of run until late.

I think that Delmas will make someone a find safety between 24 and 33. To me, this is way too high for a free safety who is likely not to be able to call signals.'

I think ALL the other four will provide better value to the patriots at where they are picked. For example, it would make we very happy to get Moore at 57 and Johnson at 89. We'd be set at safety for the next four years. Some team will get a bargain with each of these players.

I like all of those safety prospects, but I've got to give the nod to Chung as my personal favorite. I think that he's the best tackler of the bunch both in space and on the line. He also has great quickness for someone who hits the way he can. he reminds me the most of Rodney of the whole group, meaning more of a SS with speed to cover TE's and the like than a FS trying to pretend to also be a SS like some of the others. As they've been hashed over so much on this board I don't think it's necessary to go into huge analysis, just suffice it to say that he's my pick, and IMO the "safest" pick of the bunch.

P.S. If you haven't seen videos of Chung, YouTube him, and especially look for a video of him blocking during an interception return. He takes out two OL on the same play without breaking stride. It reminded me of The Waterboy.
Then look for a video of a punt return for TD. He's fearless with good size and great speed. Plus, he's great on Special teams, and BB loves players that can play lots of ways.

I'd be super happy if Johnson was still around at 89, and I really like your idea of both at 58 and 89--Moore and Johnson would be great value at those numbers,IMO

All good names. I think Pat's really want to like Will Moore-ss-Missouri. Can he be the physical presence that they need?. He would give them a better set of ball skills than they have had at ss. Keep an eye on Nic Harris -ss -Oklahoma-round 3 type-his versatility will keep Pat's interested.

I figured that 99% of us have, but just in case. Besides that blocking video is one of the more entertaining videos of this year's draft class. Never hurts to see it again.

Yeah, I like Moore too. We have 2 FS anyway in BW and JS (and optionally Springs) and what we need is the physical SS type to replace Rodney. Moore strikes me as more of that type of player as does Vaughan

Moore played injured last year and his stock went down but with coaching I think he'd be a steal in the lower 2nd

Nice list. Only player I would add in there would be Sean Smith. I'm not sure where he goes - as high as #2 and as low as #6 potentially depending on need and how convinced the FO is that he's the real deal.

I see hints of Troy Polamalu, Bob Sanders and Michael Griffin in Delmas. He's a bit over-aggressive at times and may need to be reigned in, but that's not the worst thing in the world. He has much better range and coverage ability than Sanders.

I actually like this safety class a lot. I'd be happy with any of those 6 guys.

Delmas and Chung probably go in that 35-45 range.

Moore and Johnson 50-55

After Chip Vaughn there's a drop off so I figure he'll go early 3rd round at the latest.

I'm worried about Delmas' durability. Is he going to be a yearly injury case like Sanders because of his lack of size? I'm not questioning the ability so much as that.

So my preference at safety would be Patrick Chung, William Moore, Chip Vaughn, David Bruton as SS. I see Delmas and Rashad Johnson in the FS mold.

I worry about small Safeties but the NFL is going that way and we might as well get used to it. Delmas isn't a whole lot different ht/wt than Polamalu and Ed Reed. He won't be the next "Rodney" but speed and coverage is getting more important from both Safeties now, IMO, as long as they can still make the tackle.

Knowing that BB's wheelhouse is the DBs I have the feeling that if he falls in love with one of these guys he'll take them a little higher than they might be projected to go. We saw him take Meriweather a couple years ago at 21 when he was being projected at 28. So I could easily see Delmas at #34.

Patrick Chung will be the best SS in the NFL out of this class if you ask me

Spot on mgteich

Give me Chung or Moore late in the second and I'll be happy.

I don't think Johnson lasts until #89 and might require a move up to get him.
