T. Owens visits and signs 1 year deal with Bills [merged]

Holt is a wild card since he wasn't available for the start of free agency. I'm sure more than one team has him pegged for a visit as soon as the Rams cut him. He's due a roster bonus March 17th; I doubt the Rams pay it and keep him, and I don't believe they'll be able to trade him either.

All true.

I was hoping the Bills would offer up anything by way of trade...a fifth or sixth rounder...anything to get Holt. This would have put them in a position to acquire him ahead of the other interested teams before the cut...or even getting him after he was cut, which would involve a lot more competition.

Stranger things have happened, like the Bills acquiring T.O. Who would have thunk it?

Holt has always been a favorite of mine.

TO didn't make the Eagles or Cowboys any better. That is why my post is trying to explain..

That's your opinion, not a proven fact, unless you can prove how good they would have been without him. Scoring more TDs than any receiver in the league while with the Cowboys says that you could very well be wrong about his not making the Cowboys better. In his only full season with the Eagles, they made the Super Bowl...no mean feat.

We will soon find out if he make the Bills any better.

yeah, we might. But people will jump to conclusions and not agree about that either, won't they?

The only sure thing is that T.O. will be talked about the whole year, as per usual.

Re: T.Owens visits and signs 1 year deal with Bills (merged)

I too think the Bills wil/can win 10-11 games next season.

It will still put you 3-4 games behind the Patriots, though. The upcoming edition of the Pats is being set up by Bill Belichick to be the strongest team he has ever fielded.

The Offense he has in 2009, is better balanced, and deeper than the awesome 2007 edition. The Defense may be the fastest, quickest, and most talented, top to bottom, of any he has fielded, as well. Speed Kills!

Taken together a JUGGERNAUT of immense proportions is about to be unleashed on the NFL. It will gather strength throughout the season, and be at its best in the Playoffs.

Too bad you are in the AFCE.

You've got to be kidding me. The 2007 offense of the Patriots has got to be the equal of any I've ever seen, and I've been following the NFL for over 30 years. There is no way you will be better than that.

Your defense has lost a step to what it once was.

You will not achieve perfection...that's the only way you would improve over your 2007 team. Not to throw a monkey wrench into your works, but the Patriots will fall sooner or later. Only a matter of time. How Brady comes back is still a big question mark, and that's huge for you guys. Who do you have to back him up this time?

You will soon learn that you aren't untouchable.

Game plan: go after Brady with all you've got.

Actually, it's third to none at the most. Off the top of my head, I would put him below Fitzgerald and Moss. That's just off the top of my head. I haven't had the chance to go through the full list of starting NFL receivers and don't want to. He IS very talented, but he's not the most talented receiver in the NFL and never has been over his career.

1st or 5th best WR in the league, who cares? You can't gauge these things as if it were a mathematical equation. There are too many variables...who is on your team...who is coaching your team...who calls the plays, personal opinion, etc. Owens is up there, which is all that matters. If you want to create a list of the most talented receivers, that is only YOUR list. Anyone can create one.

Owens has done enough to be labeled an ELITE receiver, and that's enough. If he wasn't that good, people wouldn't be talking about him all the time.

owens is a d-bag.

that's why he was cut.

looking fwd to the tantrum in week 2 when he decides edwards and evans are secret friends.

You have said so many wrong facts about moss in this thread. But whatever. Any real moss fan knows you have no idea what you are talking about. This is the only fact I care to respond to; TO has the most TD's the last three yrs. 38. I have heard this EVERYWHERE. I guess people are too lazy to do any research. Moss TD's last 3 yrs 5, 23, & 11 = 39. Either my math is terrible or somebody is lieing to me

don't even pay any attention to him --- feldspar is clearly just trolling the forum w/his bs.

his whole moss schtick makes him look like a circus clown.

All of this is speculation at this point. As a Pats fan, we can just sit back and wait for the circus to begin. It shall be a fun ride.

Why is this thread getting so much attention? There must have been a lot of people upset he signed with the Bills and not the Pats.

What are you, toeing the company line?

T.O. has never harmed another person, nor does he have a criminal record of any kind that I'm aware of. If people can't take some of the things he dishes out, maybe they can't hack the cut-throat business that is the NFL in the first place.

Seriously, I've thought about this before: how much actual class can exist in a business where the object of the game is to hit the guy with the ball as hard as you can get away with? Similarly, how can a professional boxer claim to have "class" and believe in God when he just beat the hell out of another man intentionally and for money or "competition."

Owens might just be one of the more honest guys in the business. Competition ain't a pretty concept. It's the central concept of the NFL.

It's not speculation that T.O. is a top 5 wide receiver and has been through almost, if not all, of his career.

or, he's just a whiny a-hole.

hey, bro! --- don't even joke like that.
the fact that he signed w/the bills and not the pats is proof of intelligent design.

Well , if you say I'm wrong, that's good enough for me. Don't bother to tell me what I'm wrong about or why I'm wrong. I've never had too much of a problem with Moss, but he DOES have a history...a history I brought up only to compare to T.O.'s.

And apparently, you've been lied to, are too lazy to do research, or your math is terrible.

Moss has had 37 TDs in the past 3 years:

Randy Moss

T.O. has had 38:

Terrell Owens

If you have a more comprehensive site for stats than the official site of the NFL, let me know. Playoff games obviously aren't included.

The only "wrong" thing I've said about Moss that you will repspond to doesn't really seem to wrong at all, does it? What else you got?

Eagles went to the Superbowl with TO,
No, actually, they didn't. They got there without him. Owens was out for the final six weeks leading up to the superbowl when the Eagles won the games that got them there.

When Owens came back and played, they lost.

Okay my friend. You have made your point about TO. Congrats that your team has him.

Best of luck with him.

Again, apples and oranges. **** Jauron is no Bill Belichick. Trent Edwards is no Tom Brady. We had veteran leaders with character 12 deep in that locker room who were prepared to keep Moss on point. And we figured to win enough games to keep the chemistry balanced. Guys with 2 and 3 and 5 rings to flash in his direction at the first sign of anything. And he cried and took a paycut for just a shot to play here.

Can you say with any convivction you have anything approaching that in place in Buffalo?

Unfortunately this signing just smacks of desperation, the kind the JETS exhibited last season. Cost their HC his job. Put fannies in seats, but that was short lived, just another tease, and those fannies are still debating the value of buying PSL's from Woody Johnson. Buffalo fans know there is a better than even chance the Bill's will be selling PSL's somewhere other than Buffalo in the next 2-3 years.

I guarantee you if Brady to Moss upstages Edwards to Owens, there will be chaos in Buffalo by week 10. Irrespective of W-L record or standings at the time too. Because the difference between Moss and Owens is Randy just wants to play for a winning organization and win a championship ring. TO has to be the reason his team wins, and he will not bear any of the blame if they don't. He's worn out his wecome on teams with more competitive position, and more established QB's and more respected coaches. And through it all he's never owned his own behavior. Never had to because some sucker always came along and bailed him out. Buffalo is just the sucker du jour.

Get your popcorn ready. But if you're a Bills fan, grab a case of Peptp Bismol to wash it down with.

You realize that BB had 5 out of 6 losing seasons and was working on his 6 out of 7 until Mo Lewis came along right??? He is looked at as a great coach but probably would have been fired if not for fate taking Bledsoe out.

Edwards, and it is sad, is the best QB Jauron has ever had. He has a chacne to be a very solid QB. But we only had one threat at receiver - Lee Evans. Double Evans and force Robert Royal or Josh Reed to beat you. but you can't do that anymore.

Here's a good stat: Bills' gamble with Owens could work - NFL - Yahoo! Sports
So in five “prove-it” seasons: 433 catches, 6,598 yards, 71 touchdowns. The averages during those seasons: 86.6 catches, 1,319.6 yards, 14.2 touchdowns.

In the other eight seasons: 518 catches, 7,524 yards, 68 touchdowns. The averages: 64.8 catches, 940.5 yards, 8.5 touchdowns.

The Bills have absolutely nothing to lose in this. If TO acts up, that's the end of his NFL career and we miss the playoffs again for the 10th straight year. But at 6.5 mil, or 500 K less than L. Coles just signed for, I'll take my chances with TO and a giant chip on his shoulder.

What you and ESPN are doing is cherry picking stats to make the a guy look better than he is.

Yeah, you can say no one has has had more TDs than Owens in the last three years, but he only had one more than Moss, and you pick three years because that includes Moss's last year in Oakland. And why else would you pick three years, instead of 1 year, 2 years, 4 years?

Because in the last 1, 2, and 4 years, Moss had more TD's than Owens.

In the last five years, both players had 58 TDs, and if you go beyond that you continue Moss's domination most years.

So when you say, "What else you got," the answer is I got the whole truth, not your misleading twisting of stats to make Owens look better than he is.

Oh, and when you say,
Playoff games obviously aren't included.
Obviously, because if you don't exclude playoff games, then you can't even say Owens had more TDs than Moss in the last three years it isn't true unless you exclude playoffs.

Yeah, TO was the reason they lost the Super Bowl. great point.

What the hell is wrong with Bills fans? Are they constitutionally unable to grasp context by reading the quote being responded to? Are they complete idiots? Are they all trolls? Is it brain damage?
