I'd settle for your draft now. But, Gilbert's not lasting until the 3rd round. We might have to take him at 23. I hear Pittsburgh is interested at 32. They need a 3-4 end.

Oops I was looking at an old list lol I was wondering why Butler was so low? He's still too low IMO and yeah I agree Gilbert is also too low, but here's my new version...

#23- Larry English, Northern Illinois, OLB
pure pass rusher who will bring the speed and intensity off the edge that we need

#34- Eben Britton, Arizona, OT
will start at right tackle and can eventually move over to Brady's blind side

#47- Sean Smith, Utah, CB
reminds me of Rodgers-Cromartie

#58- Patrick Chung, Oregon, S
very underrated IMO, has everything you look for in a safety

#89- Brandon Gibson, Washington St., WR
doesn't have elite speed, but can run routes well and catch the ball

#97- Vance Walker, Georgia Tech, DT
hard worker, good size, plays nasty... you can do worse backing up your NT

#120- Cornelius Lewis, Tennessee St., OG
good athlete, needs his technique to catch up

#23: Clint Sintim (OLB)
#34: Eben Britton (RT)
#47: Brian Robiskie (WR)
#58: Patrick Chung (SS)
#89: Johnathan Luigs (OG)
#97: Asher Allen (CB)

I'm a little bummed to wait to address CB so late, but we have a pretty good track record with drafting corners in the middle of the draft and hopefully we will add some depth in free agency. Plus, I'm optimistic about our two young corners from the '08 draft.

#23: Maualuga
#34: Connor Barwin
#47: Sean Smith
#58: Patrick Chung
#89: Jonathan Luigs
#97: Cornelius Ingram

23 - William Beatty, OT - franchise LOT for the next decade to protect TB
34 - Connor Barwin, OLB - a combination of DeMarcus Ware and Mike Vrabel?
47 - Sean Smith, CB/S - "Scrabble-2" athletic big CB or FS with high ceiling
58 - Jarron Gilbert, DE - eventual replacement for Richard Seymour
89 - Trevor Canfield, OG - nasty interior lineman to pair with Mankins
97 - Sammie Lee Hill, DT - has the athleticism of BJ Raji; backup for Wilfork

Strictly by players available at or below the rankings.....

#23: Knowshon Moreno RB Georgia (if he is there, I have to take him and trade Maroney for extra picks)
#34: Robert Ayers (DE Tennesee) a beast that nodody is paying attention to
#47: Connor Barwin (DE Cinncinnati) the closest thing to Mike Vrable, since Mike Vrabel
#58: Eric Wood (C Louisville) smart can play C and G and quick (for a lineman)
#89: Brandon Gibson (WR Washington St. ) under vauled WR on an absolutely putrid team
#97: Terrance Taylor (DT Michigan) depth, replacement for Mike Wright
#120: Mohamed Massaquoi (WR Georgia) *binky alert, think Troy Brown
@#152: Pat White (QB West Virgina) just wins

#23 - DE - tyson jackson
#34 - LB - connor barwin
#47 - CB - sean smith
#58 - OC/OG - jonathan luigs
#89 - OT tony kropog
#97 - SS chip vaughn
#120 - S courtney greene
#152 - TE bear pascoe
5th - RB devin moore
6th - OT lydon murtha
7th - WR mike thomas

#23--Alphonso Smith CB Wake Forest--could bring us much help that we need at CB
#34--Hakeem Nicks WR North Carolina--I know we don't really need a WR [especially after the CJ mess] but this guy reminds me of Calvin Johnson, he is a big physical freak
#47--Connor Barwin DE Cincinnati--I think most of us want him
#58--Paul Kruger DE Utah--could also bring us some help
#89--Mike Mickens CB Cincinnati--got pushed by other good CB's at Cinci, could bring us help
#97--Tyrone McKenzie OLB South Florida--impressed me during Senior Bowl
#120--Cornelius Lewis OG Tennessee State--raw but could develop to be really good
Other rounds: Davon Drew TE East Carolina--my boy!!!

#23: Maualuga
#34: Alphonso Smith
#47: Connar Barwin
#58: Patrick Chung
#89: Jonathan Luigs
#97: Cornelius Ingram

So NOBODY else wants to draft a punter?

23 - William Beatty, OT - franchise LOT for the next decade to protect TB
34 - Connor Barwin, OLB - a combination of DeMarcus Ware and Mike Vrabel?
47 - Sean Smith, CB/S - "Scrabble-2" athletic big CB or FS with high ceiling
58 - Jarron Gilbert, DE - eventual replacement for Richard Seymour
89 - Trevor Canfield, OG - nasty interior lineman to pair with Mankins
97 - Sammie Lee Hill, DT - has the athleticism of BJ Raji; backup for Wilfork

my god that would be an amazing draft. Add a WR with the next pick and you have what I think is the best draft I have seen so far. Nice work. Gets me all tingly.
only thing I may do if possible is take Alphonso smith at 34 and barwin at 47, but I would still dance a jig if your draft played out in real life.

With all of these picks we should be pretty happy at the end... or confused and angry walking down the street shaking a banana at a bus (I saw this near South Station one time).

Reminds me of the greatest title in the history of news reporting, a column that Kevin Rousseau in 2005.
