The Official 'Trade Brady' Debate Thread - Do Not Start Another One

"itelligent conversation"??! Aren't you the one with the "JETS" logo? You're a Patriots fan with a Jets logo and you're making a poor & foolish attempt at "trying" to make an argument for trading Brady.

Once again, if this actually were a serious thought, the Boston media would be discussing it. The only thing I've heard any of them say is how stupid it is to even bring it up.

So if the majority of us on this thread want to stick around and constantly remind you of how stupid this conversation is, we'll do just that. You're talking about the best player in Patriots history here and one of the best ever to play the game.

Don't act as if this is YOUR thread.

While I think Hoodie is out of his mind on this particular topic, he's got the Jets Logo because we need the Jets to beat the Dolphins this weekend. One has nothing to do with the other.

I don't know, but there's a better chance that the Patriots will sign him next season than there is that they will be trading Brady. If they trade Brady, I won't be looking for a star to the East or anything, but I will be on the alert for Mount St. Helens blowing its stack again.

I'm sorry... did you say "trade Brady" ??? Who the **** would even suggest such a thing. Wait, what thread am I in? Too much damn eggnog.

I'm confused now (okay still, STFU), but I thought this was the "train Brady" thread for new husbands? Do we have other plans now?

Ok then, I apologize to Hoodie for the Jet logo comment...I was wrong on that one. I was wondering because I always thought of him as a Pats fan.

Thanks for straightening me out Deus!

BTW...I wish Ian had included a poll on this topic just to show us where the over-whelming majority of us stand

I agree, although we all pretty much know. It would have been overwhelmingly against trading him, since all but a couple of the people on this board realize how ridiculous the notion of it is. Seriously, after over 500 posts I still can't even believe that there's anyone debating the other side of this.

I have heard a lot of arguments for trading Brady on this thread. Every single one of them has relied on misguided conjecture, assumptions, and hypothetical situations that are virtually guaranteed not to happen.
Basically, the formula seems to be to ignore the overwhelming probability that Cassel never becomes half the QB that Brady is, while assuming as fact that Brady will never recover from his injury (and whatever probability you want to put on that, the probability is much higher that Cassel will end up being a pretty good to very good QB, and not an all-world talent like Brady).

Whatever chance there really is that Brady decides to randomly retire on us, the chances are astronomically greater that he comes back at or near his previous level and continues to be an awesome QB for another 5+ years. MVP, GOAT-caliber QBs who are in their prime are just way too valuable a commodity to trade. Whatever it would take to be worth it for the Pats, no team would be willing to pay that price anyways.

You have to forgive Hoodie, he's been "visiting" JetsInsider and it's costing him IQ points by the dozen.

If they did this unthinkable thing, will we all maintain our In BB We Trust stance?

I'm sorry... "Brain Trady"??? WTF are you talking about Box? Try to keep up old man.

Of course not. Remember how wrong he was with Brady over Bledsoe and Testaverde over Kosar?

If they did it, then I'd assume there was merit in their decision. They won't, though, so luckily it's a moot point.

You look to the Boston Media for guidance on serious thought? I'd suggest looking elsewhere.

The problem is that this "poll" wouldn't reflect the actual discussion, which are some posters discussing any and all ways to try and make the team better for the next decade, and others who are too hysterical for that, so instead respond with one-liners and noise.

And yes, you're right, these conversations do rely on "hypothetical situations." Thanks for pointing out the obvious.

FWIW - Brady's 3 million roster bonus is due on the 1st day of free agency (February 27th) making his 2009 dead money hit even larger ($13,340,000) if any trade of Brady takes place after that day.

Please note that I do not think that Brady will be traded. Nor I do think that he should be traded.

Another fantasy football guy....just what I thought!

What problem do you have with fantasy football? Do you think if one plays ff, they cannot have rational opinions about real football? There are many guys who play ff, who realizes the differences and actually have a much broader knowledge of the league because of the hobby. It is also a way where fans can "use and manipulate" the game for our own entertainment, instead of always being sheep - who don't know anything and should just shut up and trust in BB....

Here's a FACT you can not deny. Belichick knows more about football than any fan on this earth. So why wouldn't fans just trust him? You're knowledge about football would read like a lack of knowledge compared to BB's.

The "problem" I have with many FF guys is that they focus on roster and not on the team. They'll want to stack a team with all stars if they could...but we all know how that works...right Yankee fans?

Oh great....the "fantasy" crowd is upset again.

Why do you think they call it "fantasy" football?

Newsflash...your "roster", your "games", your "standings" and your "outcomes" are all IMAGINARY.

Fans who follow REAL football are not sheep. They trust their team's management to build and play an entertaining product.

Cubicle dweebs who spend all day trading their goo gee gaa gaa "stars" and building these farcical "rosters" should not be calling ANYONE else "sheep".

As a person who plays fantasy football AND a person who has not read this entire thread (I do not think that Brady will be or should be traded) I do not understand the hostility against those who partake in fantasy football. Why does fantasy football have to do with trading Brady??

I agree. BB knows more about football than anyone on this forum. But we the point is to discuss what we feel the team might or ought do.

If BB trades Brady, I will support BB. If BB trades Cassel I will support BB. If BB trades both Brady and Cassel and starts Kevin I will support BB. If BB keeps both Brady and Cassel I will support BB.

Point is that saying the Patriots should consider trading Brady is NOT contradicting BB! BB in fact has a history of trading away franchise QB for younger guys (Bledsoe, Kosar)

Your BB knows more about football comment is only relevant when discussion actions already taken. E.g. the dozen plus threads slamming BB for keeping Matt Cassel on the team instead of Gutz.

It's wicked pissah to have guys you can deride and poke fun at!
