It's really kinda cool, the iggie thing, though I do look down and see little jabs like this from "high orbit," then just have to respond.
I believe it is my turn.
Nut uh, you.
I'm rubber, you're glue, whatever you say bounces off me and sticks to you.
You have no understanding of the life of Jesus, because you are more interested in validating the books about him which gained canonical approval. It's not really your fault, because he did not write a diary, and it's very hard work sorting out what he likely did and said, from the remainder of what's in the gospels.
I'm only a little better off... I studied the fringes of the field for only a bit. You have not done even that, because it is not your business to examine the bible -- any part of it -- critically.
You are interested in what you believe, what you have faith in. I am interested in what happened. And of course, I am not interested in you.
Mel Gibson, by contrast to both of us but in keeping with the thread topic, seems to be interested in anti-Semitism, as anyone who saw his faux snuff porn film can attest, and as is reinforced by his statements to arresting officers, and subsequent statements as included earlier in the thread.
But I'll let these threads rest in peace for a bit, despite the urge to nuke from high orbit. The religion forum is only really much fun when you shut up and other voices are heard.
Yours not in Christ,
PFnV
good job ignoring it PFIV. I can see you are so not interested in me that you keep responding.
another interesting thing ive noticed. the only people ive ever heard call "The Passion of the Christ" a snuff film are non-believers who dont "get it".
its funny, nobody worries about the violence in "Pulp Fiction" , "Reservoir Dogs" or "Saving Private Ryan".
what a bunch of hypocrites. Suddenly concerned about violent content.
More like, concerned that people will see the story of what Jesus endured for them.
So what was anti-semitic about "The Passion"? Jewish leaders werent there? Of course they were, but that wasnt the point. If you had actually watched the film or understood the Cross this would be clear to you.
Jews didnt "kill Christ", ok,Paranoid Fan in Va? And Mel Gibson went out of his way to show the Jewish people who believed in Jesus. And in the filming, it was his hand that drove the first nail in. Because he was saying that mankind killed Christ. It was the Romans who killed Christ at the urging of the Jewish religious leaders. It was very political. For a Jew, and I am one, to deny that would be like a southerner denying a role in slavery. It happened, deal with it.
Theres nothing anti-semitic there because Jesus was Jewish, the disciples were Jewish, the Bible was written by Jews. And nowhere in the film does the blame for Jesus death rest on "The Jews". Rather, his death is not a "blame" issue. He was sent here to fulfill his prophesised mission. He died for the sins of all man. Christians understand that and dont place "blame" because He knew what He came for.
calling the film anti-semitic would be like saying Schindlers List is anti-semitic because it showed Ben Kingleys character helping Schindler. Its crazy and its a lie to keep people from seeing the film.
Jewish people have a very hard time opening up to what scripture writes about its King because to do so would be dealing with the guilt of their non-belief, or to finally deal with what the Jewish role was and was not in the death of ************.
Jews didnt kill Christ, we all killed Christ, the Jewish King. And it all had to be.
Dont run away from the truth with cries of Anti-Semitism because its a lie.
Mel Gibson didnt help the situation, this is true. But proponants of art are alays the first ones to say, seperate the message from the artist.
Woody Allen married his stepdaughter. Did his films become not funny anymore? John Lennon sang about peace. He also beat up women. Did his music stink?
c'mon, dont use this hypocrisy of Mel Gibsons personal garbage to offer proof that the Gospel of ************ is suddenly "debunked" because of it.
Whatever his personal failings, the man told the beautiful and truthful story of the greatest act of love in the history of man.
Watch the movie and read the Bible before falling in line with the lie that somehow the movie is "anti-semitism".
and while the film was taken off Youtube, this is a fine reminder of what the Lord did for all of us so that we might have eternal life
