THen why have we never seen a NE player do it? We had several situations in 2007 where they ran they put the ball into the end zone when they could have eaten more time.
Because maybe unlike Stokely, they weren't as open as Stokely were. Or maybe they weren't scoring a TD that would put them up by six with only 13 seconds left in the game. If the Pats played did it with a 1:30 left in the game and the Pats were up by two, those two seconds wouldn't mean much. And just because Belichick would teach players to be aware of that, doesn't mean they would think of it in a real situation. Every situation is different and Stokely had the time to scan the field to make sure he had a ten to twenty yard coushin from the defender and time was at a premium with less than 20 second left.
