LaMont Jordan is better than LoMo

The reason Maroney gets caught in the backfield is because he starts dancing in the backfield instead of attacking the line.

Maroney relies on the offensive line to get his yards - Very seldom does he get it on his own or push the defensive linemen back,he is not made for that type of runner - If the OL does not make holes in the middle or block to the outside well enough for LoMo then he is a sitting duck and will get decked for losses consistently as usual - When he does have good yardage per carry its the OL opening holes for him and him running fast through them more than him doing it himself

Today Jordan made holes when there weren't any and made the OL look like it was dominating,Thats the difference in style between these two runners,Maroney is fast but needs guys in front of him to make good gains,Jordan does it with power when the holes are closed.

I don't understand it, but I have never seen a back consistently get hit 2 yards behind the LOS as much as Maroney does. That can't be his fault, can it?

I think sometimes it is his fault. I think LoMo often times takes too long to make a cut and hit the hole. Sometimes patience is a virtue in waiting for your blocks to develop, but I think often times Maroney is just too indicisive in the backfield.

Agreed...Maroney is a much better runner with a fullback leading the way.

LaMont > Maroney.

That is my opinion based on what I've seen of Jordan this year. If I were BB, I'd be giving Jordan the majority of the reps.

Kudos to Kevin Faulk for another awesome performance.

He was better than Maroney today but give the Jets front 4 credit though, Maroney had very few holes to run through today(same for Morris) and by the time Jordan came in the Jets front was a bit worn down and a fresh Jordan kicked their ass. Maroney, Jordan, Faulk and Morris, great depth at RB, each new week a different RB will look good, this was Lamonts week to shine. I would love to see Jordan in the finisher role every week, what a weapon for a tired defense.

Faulk had a great game too but he always does against the Jets. Mangini has no answers for Kevin Faulk the Jet killer.

Faulk is like having a RB and an extra TE in at the same time - I love the guy

Nail on head. Exactly. If I had to choose one style for our team, it would be Jordan. No question.

However, I'm not a Maroney hater. Perhaps we could use him later in the game after the D-line is tired from getting pummeled by Jordan. Jordan made him look like a rookie by comparison, hate to say.

i also agree. I don't understand why the pats don't design more plays for LoMo instead of running him between the tackles (i mean, he is the starting running back after all). That just isn't his strength and he is better in the open field or outside the tackles. (or so it seems). He has been really good at screen passes in the past as well.

Because others don't agree with your views Patsox then this site is sad and pathetic?

So if everyone said Patsox is right or agree with everything you think and say then this site would rock, right?

Just use Jordan where we would want to use Corey Dillon. Maroney can get lots of yards also. BTW, I'd like to see Maroney on kick returns instead of Hobbs or Welker.

I just didn't get bring back Maroney on short yardage.

We've needed a Jordan since Dillon left. We cannot overestimate the importance of using up clock near the end of the game. I think I can recall a couple of games where that was important in the last couple of years.

No. Because YET ANOTHER kneejerk thread has been started, bashing Maroney (who had NOWHERE to run all day). It is just one more example of asinine, ridiculous postings from football nitwits with the mind-set of a gossipy quilting circle. I'm happy LaMont looked good today, too. Hope he keeps it up. I also hope the OL starts to play more consistently.

Sorry for having a problem with people callling for a roster change based on ELEVEN CARRIES. Amateur hour.

I dont know if anyone posted this, but I have been saying since we drafted LoMo that we need to get him more screen plays so he's in the open field. What he can do for the short passing game could be incredible.

I agree. There was a time last year, especially, where we set up several screens for him, and he excelled. Hopefully he'll see more of those in the coming weeks. Great point.

It's been 378 carries not 11. I understand the hate for Maroney and every other player that doesn't immediately become a stud gets ridiculous, but why is he automatically better than Jordan? Jordan has played in two terrible offenses (Oakland and New York) and was the 49th pick in a draft that saw Ladanian Tomlinson, Deuce McCallister, Drew Bennett as the only higher RB picks than him. Maroney hasn't automatically ensured that he's the starter just because he was our 1st round pick, if Jordan is better, he will play more, and there's nothing that suggests Jordan is automatically a backup either. Who knows, they may end up splitting carries evenly. But being flexible, and playing the best player is something that BB does. See Chad Jackson v. Jabar Gaffney.

Jordan is better than Maroney, but thats not saying all that much. Maroney is average at best.

Morris can be pretty good himself at times so if you want to argue Maroney and Jordan don't leave out #34 who can play solid as well

I was just about to post something you did. I was going to point out that Jordan has played on for two of the most dysfunctional teams in the league. Now that he's on a team that has some order, where the atmosphier is different maybe he becomes rejuvinated. This is nothing aginst LOMO though,I still think overall he's the most talented runner on the team.
