And, let me guess, going into last weeks game against the Patriots the Redskins were one of the top red zone defense teams in the NFL? Final score Patiots 52 - Redskins 7. Great, meaningful post you your part.......NOT!
Just threw something out there for discussion, I see your not up for football talk..not that is surprises me any..
Furthermore, in the first half of games this season, Patriots' opponents have made only NINE trips into FG range (inside the 35 yard line). Two of those were due to turnovers that started the other team in New England territory.
So there are only seven real drives all season that the other team had a legitimate chance to walk away with points in the first half. I think this is as big a reason we've been stomping people as the offense.
If the Patriots can improve their red zone defense even marginally, they may actually get even better. Hard to believe, but there it is.
I did not start this thread to be a troll, I just couldn't believe it when I read it, considering how dominant they have been this year, now in all fairness the article says this is based on 18 trips teams have been in the redzone, now I don't know how that compares to other teams but only 18 trips for teams in the redzone? That to me seems pretty low. I have no idea where the Colts stand on this, they might be 31 for all I know..
It would also help if one was an insider subscriber.
Also people may score int he redzone when they get there.....but they have to get there! Kinda hard if their D is always on the field. I would gladly trade a red zone score, for say 20 points for each one zone score

Seau called for offsides negating a stop on 3rd and 1, Coles catches a TD pass. If I recall, the Jets fooled the Pats with an odd formation, as Coles came out of the backfield, and Colvin had no chance of covering him 1-on-1.
Jets - 3rd quarter - Pats up 28-7
Thomas Jones rushes from the 12 to the 2 and a Vrabel offsides sets up NY with 1st and Goal from the 1. First play is incomplete to Coles, second is complete to Coles for a TD.
Chargers - 3rd quarter - Pats up 24-0
Pats stonewall LT, but Rivers scramble and pass to Gates give them 1st and goal at the 4. Play action pass to Lorenzo Neal on 4th and 1 gives them the TD. Might have been a FG attempt if the score were closer, but impossible to tell for sure.
Chargers - 4th quarter - Pats up 31-7
Gates catches a 12 yard TD pass on the 2nd red zone play. Gates gave them trouble all day.
Bills - 1st quarter - Pats up 3-0
Lynch runs in a TD on 3rd and goal from the 8. I seem to remember this being a very nice individual effort on Lynch's part. This was also Trent Edwards' first career series, they seemed confused that whole drive, but clamped down with a vengeance after that. Buffalo never crossed mid-field again.
Bengals - 2nd quarter - Pats up 10-0
Tom Brady INT (yes, they do exist) sets up Bengals with short field. 22 yard pass to Ocho Cinco sets up Bengals 1st & Goal at the 1. First play is a TD pass to TJ Housh. Most red zone possessions that start at the 1 aren't going to end well.
Bengals - 2nd quarter - Pats up 17-7
First red zone play is 2nd an 9 from the 20. Asante Samuel jumps Ocho's route and gets the INT.
Browns - 1st quarter - Pats up 3-0
Pats give up 11 yard run on 1st down from the 12 yard line, but stiffen when presented with 1st & Goal at the 1. Incomplete pass, stuffed run, then Samuel gets his hand on a pass that Seau ends up intercepting.
Browns - 4th quarter - Pats up 27-10
Short field due to Browns special teams. One play to get in the red zone, and then one more to score as Winslow catches a pass on 1st down at the 14.
Browns - 4th quarter - Pats up 34-17
Only seconds left in the game. First play is a spike and Pats force 3 straight incompletions, the last one as time expires.
Cowboys - 2nd quarter - Pats up 14-0
Cowboys reach the 20 yard line on a 2nd down play. 3rd down is an incompletion and they kick a FG.
Cowboys - 2nd quarter - Pats up 21-10
2nd and 5 from the 12. One incompletion to TO, then a TD pass to TO. It was a very short pass that TO ran in, and I clearly remember two Patriots defenders running into each other when it looked like either one of them had a shot at bringing TO down.
Cowboys - 3rd quarter - Pats up 21-17
Crayton catches two straight intermediate passes. The second one was on 1st and Goal from the 8. Pats got burned on a jailbreak play, I remember 3 Patriots streaking in at Romo who had to hurry to get rid of it.
Cowboys - 4th quarter - Pats up 38-21
Big kickoff return gives Dallas the short field. One play sets up 1st & Goal from the 10. A sack, a 7 yard run and an incompletion lead to a questionable FG call by Dallas.
Dolphins - 1st/2nd quarter - Pats up 14-0
Fins have 1st and Goal at the 9. Brown rush for 5 yards, Cleo Lemon sneaks 4 yards for the TD. They looked very surprised by the Lemon rush, at least the camera was, because I didn't even see who had it at first.
Dolphins - 3rd quarter - Pats up 42-7
Fins get as close as the 19 but throw an incompletion and an INT, losing the ball and Ronnie Brown for the season.
Dolphins - 4th quarter - Pats up 42 - 7
1st & Goal from the 2 after a 17 yard run. 1 yard run, incomplete pass, 1 yard TD run on 3rd down. I'm seeing the name LeKevin Smith in the tackle info for this drive, so I'm guessing there were a fair number of backups in the game at this point.
Dolphins - 4th quarter - Pats up 49-21
20 yard pass sets up 1st & Goal from the 7. Pats caught off guard by running play after 9 passes in the last 10 plays and give up the 7 yard TD run.
Redskins - 3rd quarter - Pats up 38-0
Skins' first red zone appearance comes 43 minutes into the game. They are promptly stonewalled for 4 straight plays and turn it over on downs.
Redskins - 4th quarter - Pats up 52-0
Skins have smoke coming out their ears on this drive and look like they'd absolutely kill to get one score before the game ends. In the red zone, a fals e start and a 15 yard TD pass to Cooley are the 2 plays. If they'd played with that much fire the whole game they might have made it a lot closer.
Now this is the reason I started this thread, so we can get some good posts to break it down...good post
It may not be negative at all, depending on how you look it at, only 18 trips to the Redzone in 8 games? To me that stat seems amazing in a good way of course..

Just something to think about. The Pats have only allowed opponents into the redzone 18 times in 8 games.. That's 2.25 times a game. Think about that. 2.25 times a game. So, while teams are having "success" against the Pats while they are in the red zone, its getting to the red zone that is the problem for Pats opponents..
