OK, I have to say, I have been impressed by Stidham who is looking a very astute signing,

However, is there a chance that the talk about making him QB2 at the expense of Hoyer is a bit premature? After watching the game last night, there were a few possible interceptions that would have made his box score look a lot worse. Of course the good stuff was brilliant, there is no doubt

Would you been inclined to keep him as QB3, let him develop, and then make the step up next year?

I say why wait, make him QB1. Start him against the squealers week #1. Kid is one-of-a-kind. Dump Hoyer. Keep Tommy as back-up and force him to cheer in the sidelines. Actually, Tommy can hold the ball during FGs so we can dump both Allen and Gost and put in the other wunderkid Bayley's. Bayley's and coffee is good.

Brady will play the first series or two or three this Thursday.

Stidham will come in for one or two series against Carolina's starting defense. Maybe Stidham even comes in at mid drive. He will not know it's coming, but Brady will.

Then we see what he'll do.

And Brady will be back deep into the third.

Being 2 or 3 won’t change his development (nor would being on the practice squad but that’s not an option). The “move Hoyer out of the way” idea happens in practice whether Hoyer is on the roster or not.
I think we keep 3 but Stidham acts like the 2. If Brady is injured Hoyer plays and if he struggles there is a quick hook.

The interesting question is which will be inactive. I could see value in having Stidham get fame action in blowouts. And practicing the victory formation :D

At this point Stidham won't make it to the practice squad. He's shown enough or will have shown enough before the season that would make this extremely unlikely.

Thus it comes down to confidence that he could handle the duties vs having a good player/prospect that would be claimed if released. While I love the potential depth on this team, I'm not certain there's someone on the team that would put them that much over the top vs the insurance that Hoyer represents.

So we keep 3 QBs and probably release a veteran to keep someone who might not make it to the PS.

The dumping of Hoyer that would elevate a rookie to be a back up to Brady would be a real shock, BUT it wouldn't be unprecedented. Ironically it happened when a UDFA named Bryan Hoyer became the sole back up to Tom in 2009, IIRC.

Bill generally keeps only 2 QB's, but HAS done it 3 times in the last decade, he WILL do it.
I think it will all depend on the roster battles and if Bill thinks someone on the bubble would be more valuable than Hoyer. We can guess and speculate all we want but the ONLY answer that matters is Bill's

Brady is now 5 years older. Brady could play anywhere between 1 and 3 more years. If Brady doesn't play in 2020, it would good to have both Hoyer and Stidham on the squad,

    No.

But, then, I want the team to have a chance to win games if Brady gets injured. If you're looking to improve draft positioning, though, Stidham's your man this year.

Agreed and not disputing that. But the point was that in 2014 rookie JG was the backup to TB

Quite likely it will come down to releasing Hoyer to keep player __________.

Is that player _________ that valuable for depth? Stay tuned.

Hard to imagine that #54 (whoever that might be) would bring more value than Hoyer. Stidham is promising but he hasn’t yet seen an NFL defense trying to stop him.

Half of Hoyer's salary is guaranteed, and it appears that the rookie is not yet ready to be the backup.

Not only that, but from the little I've seen, the kid will get injured by a real D in no time and not because of a ****ty OL.
