Would you give up a 2nd for Leonard Williams?

If he was cheaper maybe a second rounder but having to pay that salary and give up a second rounder is too rich for my blood.

I’m not giving up a high pick unless a contract extension is worked out beforehand.

Ras I see you like Williams give me one Leonard Williams over three Adrian Clearout.

Seems like there is always a $$$$ thing with some of you Patriots fans. Williams is a solid player young and not even in the prime of his career. Yeah he not worth that just like when Trey Flowers gets paid by his next teams: the consensus around here will be that the other Team overpaid. You can't always get something for nothing in this league. 12- 14MIll is the gong rate for a good D-Lineman take it or leave it.

Who gives a crap if hes young and not in his prime?

All due respect I don't think you know what the market is for NFL linemen is respective to production, compensation and market rate.

Trey Flowers is a better player than Leonard Williams and has produced at a higher level than him. That is why he will be worth ~$14m AAV on the open market.

In terms of production and impact, Williams has not meet expectations and at $14m is overpaid.

If I have $14m kicking around Flowers gets it over Williams and it's not even a discussion

It’s more of a hypothetical since it’s unlikely the Jets would ever ship him to us.

No, hes been tainted with jete suckage.

This is a perfect example of how players have no intrinsic trade value. You’re trading for the contract along with the player, and this player on this contract has exactly 0 trade value.

Actually, by the Osweiler example, isn't his trade value roughly a negative second - round pick?

If I’m going to target any jets this offseason my #1 guy is Andre Roberts.

They’ve lined him up at middle linebacker multiple times. And not just this year. Last year too. That’s one way he was misused
Can you document that?

This also reminds me of when they used to put Sheldon Richardson at outside linebacker

Well I need more than a screenshot to assess it, and god often it was done. What was the situation and what was his assignment.
Belichick used tedy bruschi at NT and Arrington at de at times.

Yeah but that would actually work wouldn’t it? These experiments with Richardson and Williams were often failures and that they kept reattempting if memory serves me correctly

Huh?
Why were they failures? What was the role.
If Williams is rushing the passer from that spot it’s just creativity. Standing up a DL isn’t necessarily using them as a lb.

Failures because they weren’t good at it. But I think I may of confused Williams situation with Richardson’s who I had completely forgot about until a few minutes ago. At first I wasn’t even 100 percent sure Williams was used that way I had to double check it then I remembered Richardson

Bruschi wasn’t a good NT. Kyle Arrington wasn’t a good DE. Thet werent okayihg a traditional role and I’m sure Williams wasn’t either. That’s why what really happened is important not a screen shot.
But you are arguing Williams career is where it is because he was horribly misused and now you say you think you were thinking of someone else.

No I never said he is where he is because he was misused. I said he was misused at times. Which I believe he was. I never drew a conclusion from it

I also have no recollection of brushi lining up a NT so I can’t comment on it

I do remember Arrington lining up at end, but I’m pretty sure I saw him make some plays

Worked out pretty well with Seymour, Warren, and Wilfork. The issue is the talent and dedication of the players, not the philosophy of team building.
Two completely different situations. Aside from the Seymour pick, Wilfork and Warren we’re replacing older players. The Pats had a franchise QB and didn’t have that many needs. The Jets had needs everywhere, yet collected D-lineman.
