Wolf has final say on the roster

Except that Ron Wolf's boy hasn't provided us with Jack. ****ing. ****.
He is still employed by Thunder Kraft.

Mayo would still be here too if Kraft was up for the 2025 HOF. Why? Because Kraft would not rock the boat before officially donning the gold jacket.

Wolf has not been fired.

The World According To The Captain is not the world we live in (thankfully)

It's not whether Wolf HAS been fired, but whether he OUGHT to be. The captain's language may be ... robust, but he is right.

Wolf's draft was terrible.

Oh, people say, that's because he hasn't had the time to implement his system.

But his free agency was terrible too. Not just pre-season free agency but during the season too -- compulsively swapping out one JAG lineman for another. How are you going to get the minimal amount of cohesion -- not killing drives with pre-snap penalties -- if you keep chopping and changing?

Oh, people say, you can't judge his players because of the terrible coaching they got.

But where did the terrible coaches come from? That NFL powerhouse the Browns gave you AVP and Peters and so on. And who brought them in? Eliot Wolf.

The only reason to keep Wolf is that it would be disruptive to remove him before the draft.

After that, Wolf must go!

Read an article that quoted Wolf saying last year was problematic because they needed more time to be more thorough. What? More self-justification.

It's not out the norm for example when the Celtics were trying to get Durant ownership used Tatum and brown to help in that.. pioli even said that brady would interject himself to court guys to sign. It's not abnormal.. the Vrabel already said to FAs they will have opportunity and $$$

Wouldn't you rather have that power in Vrabel's And Cowden's hands than in the hands of those two ****ing totally ****ing incompetent ****ing nepo idiots?
the idiots being Vrabel and Wolf?

.!
yup. we should have traded down from 3

Don't be silly, MG.
When someone says how absolutely terrible the 2024 draft was, I feel compelled to point out that the JOB was to get us a QB. We got two.
Five years from now, that is how we will remember this so-called "terrible" draft. And all agree that Wolf should have IGNIORED the coaches and drafted BPA in the 2nd round, that being DeJean. Of course, the coaches wanted their chosen WR and the posters wanted two projects at OT who may start someone day, or nor.
======
Oh, BTW, should Wolf make the choices or should he let the coaches make the decisions. As always, it will be Wolf's choice if we don't like the pick and Vrabel's genius if draft picks work out.

Here's the overall issue. This is the first year you could judge Wolf with full control and didn't have Bill Belichick around ignoring scouts and just doing whatever he wanted and it was a mixed bag but their are mitigating factors.

-He did get Drake Maye, people can call it a no brainer pick but we have reason to believe the regime last year wouldn't get him.

-He got Milton who looks like he's one of the best back ups in the league and might get us value later on.

-He ****ed up on passing on McConkey for Polk. That was a miss. I also don't think anyone reasonably expected that to turn out as bad as it did. This board was practically drooling over Polk after the pick and through all the training camp reports and Brissett was getting crucified for not throwing to him early in the season. So it was a big miss, but some people are being facetious in pretending there weren't reasons to think it might end up being the right move. Also this is by far the biggest negative against him.

-The rest of the draft besides the two QB's didn't pan out much either, but Wallace got placed on IR after a month so we don't know for sure what he's going to shape up as. He was generally considered to be playing good before that. If he comes back and plays strong on the line, we are going to look at that draft very differently.

Now we get to free agency.

-Let's just start at the beginning that we all know needs to be addressed. This was supposed to be a really strong free agency period and became the weakest in recent memory specifically because there was a very unexpected cap increase and players who were going to hit the market were able to work out deals to stay on their teams. Pretending this didn't have a significant impact is foolish. It made a huge difference in what we could do and it came off like we had two or three players we valued and because they were the only people there, we were dragged in a bidding war.

-Aiyuk and Ridley were the big gets we were after and we didn't get them. On one end you could say "well that's on Wolf for not selling the team". Truth is there wasn't much to sell. Maye had no track record, we were coming off a ****ty run, we had a new coach with no pedigree. Aiyuk imo clearly just wanted a deal with the 49'ers and was leveraging everyone else. Ridley just didn't want to be here and has played in the South his whole career and went to another Southern team.

-Flipside is you could argue we should have focused elsewhere. But let's be real, everyone saying we should have gone for the lineman, all the supposed tackles in free agency ended up being guards. This was a very strong RB free agency. But did you want to lock a ton of money into that position? Idk.

So yes there was a mixed results. The successes were top loaded at QB, there is a mystery in Wallace, and then we sucked at free agency when there were a lot of reasons it should have sucked.

After 6 years of being under Bill's thumb do you say this is Wolf's only bite at the apple with all the things that went against us this year, especially after he got the QB? I think that's a bad idea overall. You do need to give him a fairshake to see what he can on average produce. Since the alternative is to give a coach who never had roster control the responsibility and go to an archaic "the cook buys the groceries" model that the rest of the league doesn't use anymore.... the smart move is to see what Wolf does this year and next year, if it doesn't work out you go on a GM search.

Truth is we don't know how this draft will be remembered. It could be a total dud of Maye doesn't take a step forward. It could be the draft where we got a franchise QB, a franchise lineman in Wallace when he gets back and got Milton who ended up netting us a return. If that is the case, it ends up being one of the better drafts we had in the last ten years.

Wolf and Al Groh's boyo.
You miss the point. Last year, the "brain trust" of Mayo and Wolf made the choices. This year it is Vrabel and Wolf, with Wolf clearly getting final say.
=========================
If Vrabel has the final say, then your argument is with Vrabel. What possible difference does it make if the Kraft's choose to continue to pay Wolf? Kraft has lots of employees.

Vrabel has his man in Wolf's organization and in the selection process.

To be clear, it is Vrabel who will decide how much to pay attention to Wolf's advice on potential transactions and picks.

The writings on the wall for him I feel. MV brought in his bud to "help" out in the transition blah blah blah, but you and I know that the second he screws up, he is gone. Hell, at this point, he won't need to screw up that bad....

And how would Wolf be the one who screw up if Vrabel makes all the decisions?

Well going by what the articles mentioning here, it looks like it reads Wolfie has final say in a league defined by optics. MV bringing in his own guy that now has a similar title tells me they really don’t have the faith in Wolfie required to turn these fan back stabbing, people that can make those in wheelchairs miraculously do the running man dance after Baker scores (lolz) in just another year. Cowden’s there as a contingency plan in case Wolfie eats the chickens this year. SB /playoffs/ return to being a respectable team be damned…With our “luck” he will be fcking them instead of watching em do the cabbage patch….. for all you millennials and younger, don’t be afraid of googling the cabbage patch…it was a dance your parents possibly did drunk, high, after not getting caught smoking weed or taking X + LSD aka candy flipping at a party at your place when the parents were going to see your vovó 3 hours away and decided to not go and turn back “just because “. Anyways, candy flipping was fun, having your house parties that you were the DJ and brought all your expensive gear to play on suddenly has 2 new middle aged, very pissed off “guests” and you just met them parents lol. Back on topic, I can’t say I have EVER WORKED at a Co that had 1 person and 1 person ONLY to have final sayin EVERYTHING. I’d be willing to say this is like I think @Ross12 was saying and just put out there. Since the cluster****/nuke that went off in the org the past few years, they are doing what they never did before. Having a contingency plan, or as we in IT call it either a DR (disaster recovery plan) or a BC Business Continuity plan). They’re covering their asses by creating possible mis info regarding who the **** is in charge of it all and who’s taking care getting Baker’s non getting up wheelchair users diapers worn but not stood up yet and probably never will for him….OHHHHH WELL!!! I was trying to be more funny here that serious….Sorry for my thesis post.

This post was a wild ride

Making the Pats a better team while making the Chargers a better team takes a lot of hours.

This person is physically incapable of posting anything critical or even slightly negative about the Patriots. Best to just roll your eyes and move on.

I kid you not…they must have never been a pats fan in actual New England because you win many super bowls there and you STILL get called ****/names which I never understood until I saw it from the outside after moving. Everyone living up there is the worst types of humanity all in one place. Seeing who can fck anyone over daily. Always saying negative **** when not warranted or even asked for. Opinions are gladly given up there especially if you don’t want to hear it because everyone there thinks they’re so damn special and are sooooo important…./I’m kidding. Sorta. . A certain type of person lives up north and I think not everyone is use to it…
