I'm rooting that he's truly improved from than last year. I'm all for that story.

If he's the same player and is only floating because all the others are stuck down low clogging the toilet, then that's another story.

Campbell will be our starting LT as long as he's healthy. No reason to move him.
And if Wilson & Bryant end up starting games for us this year (very likely, and presumedly will be starters next year at C & RT)
Then this years draft/UDFA could end up being THE best Pats draft ever.
(its already lining up to be the best player acquisition offseason since 2000 or 2007... or ever.)

Campbell - Wilson - Brown/Bradbury - Onwenu - Moses/Bryant
is the strongest OL combo we have. Wallace & Strange look to provide the most versatile backup options.
With Wilson & Brown being able to flip from C & LG, and Bryant being a solid swing Tackle.

Perhaps Strange and Wallace, both your versatile backups will be on our 53, or not.

And we do need Lowe as a 4th OT.

To this point, it looks as though Campbell will be an average tackle (great on the run, so-so on PP) or a first rate guard, and a great teammate. I thinks that's about what we expected. It was our misfortune to need an LT in a draft year when that position was pretty thin. So we are where we thought we would be.
That is a pretty strong statement Theo. What exactly are you basing it on. Is it the high PFF ratings? Is the fact that he seems to respond with every adversity positively. Is it the fact that he seems to be getting a bit better in every practice? None of the above, right? It seems you are basing your entire misguided premise based on the unproven mythology that bases OT success purely on the length of one's arms rather than what one sees with their own eyes.

Now I can't guarantee Campbell's success based on what I've seen so far, but I can say it trending toward that result so far with a LONG way to go before we can establish any result.

You are usually a rational thinker, I cannot understand how you came to this conclusion.

I think the O-line will be bottom-third this year, and that that will be a problem. I am not too bothered by that (unless Maye gets injured as a result) because, once again, it is what I expected. I see this year as very much an exercise in rebuiliding, as I have said all along. It seems Maye could take another year to get his in-the-moment judgment squared away. I think their record will be better, but I could not care less whether they get into the playoffs. All I care about is that the team shows signs of acceptable improvement. The rebuild is incomplete, as you would expect it to be, given Bill's dismal work as GM and Mayo's spectacular incompetence (He couldn't even manage to LOSE a goddam game.). The rebuild began (again) at a very low point, and there is no way that job is finished.

I don't know about this. We haven't even figured out exactly who will be ON the OL yet, let alone how well they will mesh together as a cohesive unit. All we can be assured of at this point is that they will be better than last season's hodgepodge of individuals in a less comprehensive offensive system and worse coaching staff. You say bottom third, I'm hoping barely into the top half. Regardless, it WILL be better and hopefully a lot better at the end of the year compared to the beginning.

Considering what Vrabel said looks like Wallace is a lock. Strange will be cut or traded. Lowe should be another backup

For now Bradbury is a lock but if he sucks he might get cut or traded and we get another developmental center or use Wilson as interim. They badly wanted strange to be a center but he sucks.

Starters - campbell, wilson, Bradbury, onwenu, Moses

Backups - Lowe, brown, Wallace, Bryant

Great post Ken, imho

What did Vrabel say about Wallace?

Who's our center? Who's our LG? And in a few days our RT has a birthday. They don't want him blowing out all those candles. He may pull a muscle.

The OL is better. And trending in the right direction for the first time in three years. But we're not there yet.

Bradbury is our center. Wilson is our LG.

Moses will enjoy his cake and eat it too.

The OL will be pretty good. The depth is a little scary but every team has that problem.

I am more than pleased to see and hear how Campbell has played and handles himself
I expect some bad plays considering he’s a rookie
What I like is when he does get beat. He recovers quickly.
Which means he learns from mistakes
I think he will be a solid player for along time
Glad we didn’t take Membou. He’s having lots of trouble learning RT, never mind LT
I will give him the rookie benefit of the doubt.
Feel a lot more secure that we got the right guy

What did Vrabel say about Wallace?
He quoted Wallace, Brown and Bryant of taking good use of opportunities and potential to train them . I will see if I can get the quote

What have you seen from Ben Brown this offseason? How did he do at left guard?

MV: Ben's continued to improve. There's opportunities — Ben got us going in the run game there early. I thought he did okay. It wasn't perfect, but Ben finishes, and he's firm. We're going to continue to coach all these guys, whether it's Jared [Wilson] or Ben or Caedan [Wallace], about staying inside out and being patient in their set and timing their punch.

Don’t talk like that.
LOL

I go back to something we were saying last year. We were trying to convince ourselves we had 4 decent OL and a problem at tackle and that if we could get 4 out of 5 going we could be ok. Then of course Andrews got hurt and everything fell apart from there.

But I still think it's somewhat a valid premise. Especially if your LT is shored up. I think if Bradbury winds up our weak link on the line and Campbell and Wilson continue to improve then I think we'll be pretty good.

That’s exactly the case…most of us convinced ourselves the line would be ok but in the back of our minds we knew the truth. Bradbury will probably be the weakest link as you say…but it may not have to be that way. I think Wilson should start at C and Brown (who is improving) should start at LG. I believe that is a stronger unit overall. Mike should bite the bullet and roll that way starting tomorrow. They need reps as a unit to get better….dont wait till game one. JMO.

Then Brown becomes that weak link. You very could be right that's our best combo. Point is I like our top 4 and at least one of them this year plays LT and he might just be a beast.
