He threw a lot of interceptions? Well hell when does Cam take Jones's spot? Young inexperienced QB's throw picks and make bad plays, something else happened and we will never know.
Yeah. He didn't practice well, have command of the offense or play well when on the field. That's what happened, it's not a mystery

Stidham panics and makes not so great decisions under pressure. Was the same at Auburn. Not starter material but probably a capable backup.

I don’t think playing an extra game in week 16 last year would have moved the needle for Stid in either direction. Bill and team probably just wanted to get that game over with and get to work on the offseason.

This isn’t to refute your point but just pointing out historic references.

It happened in 1937, the second draft in NFL history. Sammy Baugh was selected in the first round (6th overall) and led Washington to a championship in his rookie year.

Bob Waterfield was the only other rookie QB to lead his team to a championship, with the Rams in 1945. However, he didn’t play in 1944 after being drafted due to military service/injury. He would still be considered a rookie though. Fifth round pick.

Ben Roethlisberger was definitely the closest that I can remember. And he certainly may have done it if it weren’t for an all-time great. I’d argue that Russell Wilson and Andrew Luck played at a high enough level to win it all if they’d had great supporting casts. For Wilson, that support came a couple of years later.
I dont count that stuff before the merger, they used to have NFL teams play really good college teams and sometimes the college team would win. So it's not like they were paying pro football at the highest levels then.

Otherwise I agree. Roethlisberger and Wilson probably had enough to win in all, but they didn't. So it's a little ludicrous to expect BB to do it.

Yet people are complaining we never knew what we had in Stid. I'm saying the coaches did and they made the right call

Fact of the matter is. If Brady did not go to tampa, they win nothing, nobody is talking about them and how great they are. They are not mentioned just like before Brady got there. They literally went from 29th in ticket sales to first in less than a year. People need to stop with this crap of how great they were before he got there, because its silly.

They had a good roster with a bunch of rising stars on cheap rookie deals. Godwin, Vea, White, Howard, Whitehead, Davis…drafted Wirfs and Winfield after.

But you can take a lot of teams that have been bad forever don’t have crippling contracts, and you’ll have a situation where a superstar QB can go there and make a big difference. Other teams in that position like that recently: Denver, LA Chargers, Cleveland, Buffalo, Arizona, Miami. Those teams all had/have influxes of talent from all those lottery picks. So yes, it was a wise choice by Brady, but it’s not like this was a once every ten years type of opportunity. Not much different than Manning to Denver in 2012. I think if you put Joe Average, like Kirk Cousins, on the 2020 Bucs, they’re probably an 8 win team, and if you theoretically assume they get Gronk and AB, then maybe 9 wins.

Can we make it a rule that pre-Pearl Harbor factoids don't count?
you just don't want any future movement to rename Thanksgiving the Feast of Jim Thorpe. Actually I just looked him up and we need to shut up about Bo Jackson and all those other modern 2 sport guys.

Yep.
If Bill thought Stid was his next JG and was really ready to see Brady leave because of this guy then yikes.

They didnt win a playoff game in 18 years, they had not had a winning record in 11 years, what would you call them? Also he didnt pick ****, they were the only team to offer him a contract. This league is about the QB, it has been for a long time. The pats rebuilt teams over and over again for the last 20 years, except one position QB, and now they have to and so far that has meant a losing record, so yeah I would say its pretty much about the QB. I am not portraying anything about Tampa, they were a losing franchise. Brady has already set all time records there, which is sad since he has been there a little over a year. If they win against the bears, it will be their best start in franchise history. Brady's 4 wins last year is the most by any QB in team history, so yeah, I would say that is a sad sack organization.

The Cowboys haven’t done jack sh.t in years either but any QB would want to play with their offensive talent. You can pretend all you want but the talent on the Bucs was obvious to anyone who knows football, which gives you an out on the question.

His winning % w/ Mac "Attack" Jones is 0.333.
I'm using 0.457
I'm being kind.

This thread reminds me of the “ we’re on to Cincinnati” week, when at least half of the fan base ran for the hills shrieking about how bad Brady and the Patriots were. Fortunately for them those threads are locked. Don’t let the doors hit you in the ass on the way out.

I dont think they expected him to really leave. It sounds like the team was caught a little off guard

SB wins > career wins

To start Scam instead of Stid week 17 vs da Jete? That was the Wrong call.

The worse move was re-signing Cam. A vet like Fitz would have been better if they wanted to give Mac more time.

Did they know they were even going to get Mac when they signed Cam? Nope. All things considered Cam was playing better in the offense at training camp. It was the move they had while they hoped they got the guy of the future
