Thank you. I still haven’t rewatched it since, so the details are clouded by a haze of anger and denial.

SB50 is still probably the worst SB I have ever watched. Horrible boring game. It felt like a regular season afternoon game because of the stadium and the fact it started at 3:30 and was daylight for bascially the whole game.

every Super Bowl up to 2001 was pretty fawkin boring. 2001 was actually the first game that came right down th the last play. Most of the Super Bowls preceeding that one were either low score or one sided blowouts

Bills-Giants too. Heck, the Patriots - Packers game was tight in the 3rd quarter.

Even then, I will never watch it. Why voluntarily relive the pain? It took until 2014 for the pain to be reversed.

Isn't there a rule that we don't post threads that refer to the Lord Voldermort of Super Bowls?

It's amazing to me, really. All the rings since then, and this one will sting forever. Immortality was out there. I could care less about the Eagles game and the other Giants game. This one sucks. The Bears game sucks too. I might watch that one someday just to appreciate the Bears, and laugh at Ditka and Ryan for not getting along well enough to keep it going.

yup, forgot about that one. I was thinking about all the times Denver or Buffalo got blown out, the Raiders over the Redskins. SF destroying Miami and the Pats /Bears game.
That Titans/Rams game was probably the first game that came right down to the last play and it ushered a run of really good Super Bowl games. I just forgot about cuz it's the Rams and they are a bunch of whiners since the Pats beat them the following year.

I'm still ENRAGED about the Raider playoff game in 1975...when I get over THAT one maybe I'll entertain being PO'ed about these others...

The one frustration for me was we made zero adjustments...zero. like clearly NY had a great gameplan and nothing was really working offensively and BB adjusted nothing. Dont really get it.

People always complain about the Patriots making the Super Bowl and how they make the league boring. I don't think it's true. All sports league need villains to make it entertaining, and the Patriots play the "villain" role pretty well. People hate them, they would love to see them lose, especially Tom Brady. Without a villain in the Super Bowl the game would be uninteresting. For example, Super Bowl 50, arguably the most uninteresting Super Bowl in recent history, featuring Peyton "I'm gonna drink a lot of Budweiser tonight" Manning, and Cam Newton. I guess some people hated Newton for his celebration antics but the game was overall boring because there isn't anyone the general public hates. Even Super Bowl 48 was infinitely more interesting despite the blowout because of Sherman's post-game outburst in NFCCG.

Was in NOLA for SB XLII, and my kin there set up a TV under a tent on the "neutral ground" on Napoleon St near Tipitina's.. they even found a smelly barcolounger to park my ass in, was watching Bacchus out of one eye and the SB out of the other.. by the end of the game we were about 200 all kinds of fans strong watching, and me in my Pats Gear walked away dejected and pissed.. not sure I can ever get over that loss.

That one really hurt... but got over it, and moved on.. winning cures everything.

Honestly the Tomase fake news ruined that weekend for me. And after we lost the gloating from the national media with respect to that fake news was over the top and hard to stomach.

Packers broncos was pretty good too.

I’ve learned to appreciate the game itself despite the fact that I liked the packers and hated the broncos. I’ve learned to appreciate elway’s efforts in that game and for the afc breaking the afc’s dominance.

Wow, remember that, when the super bowl used to be a foregone conclusion? The nfc’s victory parade? And now it’s an actual game

Your point still stands that there weren’t many close games back then

I agree 1000% because i’ve Said the same thing since Peyton retired. It was sad to see him go because it was fun rooting for him to lose. I know he wasn’t the league’s villain, but he was certainly the villain to pats’s fans. That’s what made super bowl 48 a game of beauty to me. It was fun to see him and his vaunted offense so befuddled. I imagine that’s what most Brady-haters felt in Sb 51 until Brady turned it into his crowning achievement
