Who will be the new OC?

If the goal is to hire an OC who is familiar with BB's system and has experience calling plays, that is a very short list.

I'd rather give a young coach like Caley who's been the understudy for 7 years a shot at play-calling, than a deranged failure like Judge who's only ever coached WR's 1 year - 1 of the 2 worst years for Pats receivers in 21 years.
As far as Matty P, he was unfairly hated IMO. He led the D to multiple SB's. He's not a dummy. He (like every BB disciple) didn't know how to handle people and not be a d*ck when he got a HC job, but it doesn't mean he can't scheme and innovate.

As for Fatt Matt, did you notice how much better the D got with essentially the same personnel in 2018 when Flores took over? Did you notice the disaster his time in Detroit was? Even by that franchise’s standards, it was a colossal failure.

Patricia will be calling the plays and God help Mac and all of us. Bill’s training him to be his successor. You watch and see. I can’t wait for the reaction of the Bill worshippers when that day comes.

Yep, we have to accept it.
I don't get that. As a fan who puts time and money into a team I think I have a right to an opinion, even if it's one that doesn't support everything a team does.

Honestly, do you really sit in front of your computer or phone and "LMAO"? Now that Tom-Tom Tommy Tom has succumbed to Gisele's iron will, perhaps you should think about getting a life. On my end, the Jets Suck thread takes minutes vs. years so you've got that one wrong too. Those who understand its purpose recognize the value.

You are being too reasonable about this. Keep in mind that you're arguing with a Tom Brady fan who is trolling the main forum with as much negativity as he can muster.

I can't believe there's people on here who think Mayo and Bill's kid are good coaches. Mayo has been a defensive coach since 2019. Since 2019 the defense has not made more than a handful of stops when the offenses needed the ball back to have a chance to win or tie in the 4th quarter or overtime. The defensive failures are myriad from 2019 - 2021. Are people forgetting the last 2 games against Buffalo?
I've been on this forum for years upon years and have been getting banned left and right since 2019 for calling out this defense for what it is - a heaping pile of dog s h i t. I don't give a F about "points allowed." What good is allowing 19, 20, 21 ppg or whatever it is when you can't make a stop on third down until your opponent travels inside your 20 and eats up 4, 5, 6 minutes of clock?
The Patriots have played 12 games vs playoff teams the last 2 seasons - the brilliant defensive minds of Mayo and Bill's Kid have and coached a defense that's allowed 26.5 ppg vs playoff teams (and it's pretty even, 27 ppg in 2020 and 26 ppg in 2021). They are 3-9 vs playoff teams over the last 2 seasons.
If this does not improve next season, the Patriots will have to score 28 ppg to win games vs good teams and next year's schedule looks to be loaded with good opposition. The defensive philosophy of "bend but don't break" DOES NOT WORK ANYMORE. Coach Bill's defensive "philosophy" (if you can even call it that anymore) makes the offense have to be almost perfect to win games. And if you have a couple of turnovers, forget it. Coach Bill's insistence on zone vs mobile qbs doesn't even work anymore as Allen and Tagavailoa killed them in key third down situations. It's time for a complete revamp of this defensive philosophy, but it looks like Coach Bill is staying with it.
I'll be waiting for my GDT bans for calling out the defense and the coach when Josh Allen goes 25-28 for 350 and 3 tds and runs for 70 and a td and when Jonathan Taylor goes for 25 for 180 and 4 tds....
Hear hear!

I think there are similarities between roster dynamics and coaches dynamics we have seen in recent years. On the field we were used to BB having the next guy ready when he was willing to move on from the veteran guy, very often because the guy was almost done and BB wanted to capitalize on draft picks or save money. It is not happening anymore - ora at least almost anymore (or a lot less, if you do not like hyperboles). Old school BB would have never brought back Collins for the third time or waited for Edelman to fall apart on the filed, for example. On the coaching staff it is somewhat similar, I think. Maybe BB was surprised by a lot of guys leaving at the same time (maybe the little-big-Belichick-family-coaching-together-how-nice-of-a-story-it-is has something to do with that ... ) Anyway, something looks broken...
As a 70 year old I can see how Belichick may be clear enough in his mind but physically not able to handle things as in the past. Something seems amiss.

Lombardi (and others) poached:

I don't get the anger over poaching coaches, from Bill or anyone else. If I'm McDaniels or any of those coaches I'm doing what's best for my S-E-L-F self.

Old Captain Bill is captaining the SS Patriots right to the bottom of the bay. Can’t blame people from abandoning ship. Right now I’m extremely glad Belichick is an only child or else there would be nephews all over the coaching staff. Wonder if Linda has any siblings?

Let’s see if he remains stubborn and arrogant enough to try to coach every position himself. I know Bob and Jon desperately want this relationship to end amicably unlike their relationship with Brady. But, if this continues, they’ve got to step in and tell Bill to clean out his office. Perhaps, they’re too afraid Bill’s Bully Boyz will lead a pitchfork assault on Patriot Place if they do.
The problem using Linda's siblings (if she has any) is that they'd be from her first marriage, and since she was an employee of the Jets at that time they could be Jets fans.

This is what a multi year rebuild looks like. I am not sure why folks are surprised. When Brady walked out the door, the dynasty went with him. Now we have to see if the 70 year old GM/HC can revamp this staff with fresh blood to compete in the AFC.
That's my question too. Although I'm not that big on coaching, can Bill be the same HC at 70 as he has been?

A few more words on the coaching replacements.

I really don't care who they are because they don't matter to me nearly as much as who the players are. Give us enough good/great players and then we can win in spite of the coaching, like Tampa Bay did with The 3 Stooges.

Damn dude, for someone who doesn't "really care who they (the coaches) are because they don't matter to me nearly as much as who the players are", you sure to do post a lot about it. Eleven straight posts in this thread! I sure would hate to see how much you would post if you really did care.

That's some solid enthusiasm, I'm impressed. Go Pats!

Dear God, please let BB grab BOB or get some new blood.
Why? We have been the most successful franchise in the history of football, almost exclusively with coaches that Belichick taught how to do their job and worked within the system he created.
I don’t understand why anyone would want to go elsewhere for decision makers. I mean if we were the Jete of course we should clean house and try someone else’s way. But everyone else’s way is worse than ours, as proven by long term results.

"As it stands now, Judge is expected to work with the quarterbacks, and Patricia with the line, and each will do so without much experience having coached offense before they became head coaches over the last few years (Judge came up working with the special teams, Patricia on defense). Which, obviously, is a dice roll given the critical point that Mac Jones is at. (For what it’s worth, I’ve heard the Patriots haven’t so much as talked to Adam Gase about their OC opening, and things have been quiet on the Bill O’Brien front as well.)"
