Whither Jarvis Green?

I'm not betting on Green getting traded or Peppers getting traded to the Pats, but I wouldn't be shocked if Green isn't dangled as trade bait later this offseason even if Peppers isn't part of the deal. I think if a team suffers an injury during minicamp, training camp, or the preseason; Green could become pretty valuable. I don't know if he will be back after next year. If he wants an opportunity to start, he will likely leave.

I think if the Pats do trade for Peppers (not likely at this point), trading Green in the package may be neccessary to get the cap room. After the release of Hobbs, trading Green and converting parts of Brady's and Light's base salaries into bonuses should be enough to afford Peppers in a long term deal.

i agree 100% and even if they was to get peppers i dont see him being that 15 sack guy that every one wants this D is not about geting sacks when BB D is at its best its about makeing top QB like payton manning look like a first yer rookie not by sacking him 8 times a game but by hideing the bliz so they dont know where its comeing from makeing them throw the ball befor thay want to witch leads to incomplet pass or a INT

The Pats defense averaged over 40 sacks per season in each of their Superbowl winning season so I don't get this misconception that the Pats defense does not generate sacks. Pressures are just as important as sacks though, but since total pressures aren't as easily searchable a stat, sacks are a base line indicator of ability to get to the QB.

Peppers doesn't have to get double digit sacks to make a huge impact on this defense, but considering the freak of an athlete that he is, he might well do that. Remember that before Vrabel's decline, he peaked at 12.5 sacks and he's not nearly the athlete that Peppers is.

They could always try to restructure Green's contract.

I'm hoping he stays, personally. I like the fact that he can still rush the passer, and I think he has good experience in our system. If someone goes down, he becomes way more important. He may even end up staying next yr, for added insurance for Seymour's perceived departure. Has anyone figured out when his bonus is due yet? I know there is some question to that. Miguel I think, even emailed his agent, IIRC, to no avail.
