Where will Rowe fit on this D?

Does anyone think that BB is possibly creating a Malcolm Butler insurance plan..?
Of course he is but that has nothing to do with how much he wants to keep butler or how much butler wants to stay. BB plans for everything without being emotionally attached.

My point about O-line needs has a lot to do with tackles, but why do I have this sense that once again we are going to lose guys along the line early and often. So, by effective, I guess I also meant (a fantasy mostly) someone almost made of iron that is able to hang in there season after season with minimal down time.
Solder and cannon have been very durable yhroughout their careers.

I talked to a friend who's an Eagles fan (living in LA means having friends that root for all sorts of teams), asked his opinion on Rowe. From what he described, it sounds like he could fit pretty well in a Browner-lite type type role. He doesn't destroy routes at the LOS like Browner could, and he apparently struggles quite a bit with quick, precise routes (slants, etc.). But he's big and physical and excels at sticking with his man downfield and making plays on balls thrown to the sidelines. He's also apparently pretty good at reading the QB and breaking on the ball when he's facing the LOS, presumably due to playing safety for most of his college career.

That all suggests to me that his usage will be matchup-based, and that we'll see him get quite a few snaps when we're dealing with big, downfield WRs and TEs who attack the seams and are too big for Chung to effectively contest the ball. Works for me, because that skillset is complimentary to the guys we have now, particularly Logan Ryan.

yes ... only one step from MASSIVE VERSATILITY to BORDERLINE CONFUSION
MP might need a pencil behind the other ear as well

Butler, Ryan and Harmon are all in their contract years. A 4th is fine for an additional defensive back who is the mix even with all three here.

I think King needs to be a bit worried. He was a top ST player for sure last year, but Rowe is a DB and I am sure they could sub him in for King.

Rowe brings a lot more to the game day roster than King does. Same can be said relative to Ebner, but he is Bill's dog. Richards too, but cutting a 2nd is hard. Especially after letting a 1st and a 3rd go.

Really like how Bill is playing some chips this year. Mingo and Rowe are very interesting young prospects. They have upper level athleticism. The old basketball saying is you can't teach height. Doesn't mean a tall person is good, but in improving a persons game you can not improve your height-it is what it is. Now with athleticism-how quick and agily your muscles twitch can not be taught. Doesn't mean you are going to be great, doesn't even mean you are going to be drafted. Still it is better to be tall in basketball and it is better to be fast and strong in football and these guys should both bring it.

Guys are gonna know if they are on st units, then they are on game day units. I expect to see Rowe there. This is going to be a fast, strong, deep, ferocious defense.

I looked at the defense being the strength of the team with TB out and then likely rusty for a bit before the trade additions. It is now the deepest I ever remember it and that is after trading one of best players for an offensive player and a later pick.

They haven't brought in anyone who can be Malcolm Butler insurance. So, unless the plan is to stock the pond everywhere else, and take a CB in round one, I'd say no.

I disagree.

King, Ebner and Slater are top special teamers. They are always active and contribute lots more on Game Day than many of the backups on the team.

When Rowe is ready, he will likely move ahead of Coleman in the DB depth chart. The ST depth chart is not affected, other than having another backup.
