Some thoughts.....
Dorsey is doing okay in the Chiefs system, but he's wasted in it. Their front is using smaller bodies than is traditional for a two gap 3-4, and their run defense has suffered, despite them facing some pretty anaemic rushing games this year. I think they'll be going D-line again in the Draft.....
Ochmed, you watch more College football than just about anyone, and have a great insight into the 'Bama program than anyone else, and I respect the hell out of you for that - but I'm having a really really hard time projecting Dareus into this defense at anywhere other than NT.
NFLDS has him listed at 6026; 309lbs - he's not playing DE with those numbers. Vince can do it because in term of size/weight ratios, he's one of the best athletes in the game. And he has the massive body. I said the other week that our DE's are one of two things - tall, powerful and with amazing technique, or be massive and wide.
Dareus is neither. I'm not doubting his unbelievable talent and production, but I don't think he's a fit here, which is a shame because he knows the defense.....
I see Cameron Heyward as the best fit for what we like in our D-linemen (he's an utter stud against the run), although Nick Fairley could be Seymour redux. JJ Watt and the Wilkerson kid would also be under massive consideration, especially Wilkerson. I'd be more than happy taking him from 29 onwards.....
Is D-line actually going to be under consideration? We have Ty coming back at LDE, and Gerard Warren has done a more than passable job at RDE, and with Deaderick coming along at leaps and bounds, might we have found our guy?
