Here is the original Reiss article:
Making sense of how Malcolm Butler and Patriots are on verge of a split
Here is his apology:
Piece on Malcolm Butler was incomplete
And the related thread on the board:
Mike Reiss: Mea Culpa on the Butler article.
where you yourself wrote:
I am surprised you can forget such a weird article especially coming from Reiss.
It is clearly not all ******** otherwise RK would not have publicly announced
his meeting of the minds. Similarly, the tension that grew about the entire Guerrero situation was independently also reported by Mark Daniels from the Providence Journal. He wrote a piece on Gronks new training regimen and the Pats tried to kill that piece multiple times because of the Guerrero angle. But Gronk didnt give a **** what the Pats PR told him to do and talked to Daniels nevertheless.
Also as you probably know he is pretty close to Brady and Guerrero so if anything he might have reported a version that was slightly biased towards them as that is the POV he had access to. I doubt that BB gave any longer insight into it all. What is interesting is that we had him now twice talking about how Brady reportedly changed from 2016 to 2017. We have the one interview on WEEI that
@Boomer B mentioned in another thread and he also alluded a bit to it in the most recent QuickSlants podcast with Perry. We have him on the record that while Brady started to become a more public persona with this social media interaction, Tom vs. Time show and marketing TB12 he supposedly also transformed from a player who was actively thriving under hard coaching (and setting an example for the rest of the team) to someone who at times didnt feel appreciated because of it.
Finally, please dont throw the Wickersham piece and the Curran piece into the same bin because those two were worlds apart. One was sensationalizing the other was merely describing the uncertainty that was prevalent in Foxboro in a season of change. Everyone knew the coaches were moving on, Brady started his TB12 thingy which led to tension when BB had to ban Guerrero for interfering with the training staff, the heir apparent was suddenly gone in the middle of the season leaving the team with a 40y old QB, they lost a lot of leadership and positivity with Ninkovich, Long, Blount and Ryan moving on.
