What's the chance we have a trade down partner now?

Less good now that the Raiders have traded for Geno Smith.

The likelihood of a trade down seems very slim now. Without the Raiders at 6 I doubt any team sees an urgency to get up to 4.

If Carter slips because of injury concerns I could see a team moving up for him, but other than that it’s hard to see teams moving up for anyone.

I think we are going to be stuck picking at 4 and it’s going to be either Campbell or Graham.

I disagree. I think both are going to slip because of Combine measurements, and Membou will become the first tackle off the board at 4.

Possibly true, but I feel every year a couple guys who were considered slam dunk top 5 picks “slip”, mostly due to prospect fatigue leading to nit picking. Most of the time they end up drafted where they were going to be anyway.

In most years, I would think it’s insane to move down from 4 to 18, but if I’m convinced I could get Josh Simmons at 18, I would consider the trade down with Seattle in exchange for DK. Coming away from the first round with Simmons and DK, and having the ability to tap into the deep DL class in round 2 doesn’t sound too bad.

This is a little different, because both have impeccable tape, and they aren’t being downgraded because of ability, but they are being downgraded because of body type and perceived value. Membou is in the opposite category, because he’s massive, only 20, and was the best athlete of the OL.

I would NEVER give that pick up for DK Metcalf.

I've thought about the pick swap as well. My only concern is that we do that and then Travis Hunter drops to 4. I wouldn't want to miss out on that.

Not wanting to nitpick but I believe Campbell had the higher RAS. It was marginal and I don't mean it as a knock on Membou, just a reminder that Campbell is an elite athlete too.

You’re probably right, I was just going off of Sikkema’s podcast on Risers and Fallers.

I’m intrigued by Membou. But at the end of the day, do you go with the guy with 3 years of elite tape against elite completion who is getting pushed down by one measurement, or a guy who was considered a decent prospect for 3 years who blew everyone away in a shorts and t shirt workout. I think when it’s time to pull the trigger, Campbell’s tape wins out. Could be wrong but that’s my feeling.

I love the idea of Membou too and I do think Campbell is probably a guard. I'm really warming to the idea of getting a really strong OL if we sign Stanley. It could either be:

Stanley - Campbell - Dalman? or Andrews - Onwenu - Trapilo?

or

Stanley - Ratledge? - Dalman? or Andrews - Onwenu - Membou

Either works for me.

Dalman might be a bit ambitious but there have been reports of the Pats being interested in signing a center.

You're being a little unfair on Membou there. He does have elite production (only allowed 3 career sacks) for an SEC school and, even before the combine, was getting rave scouting reviews. He was pretty much locked in as OT 2 before the combine.

Sanders might fall out of 3 but hes not that bad of a prospect to fall out of the first with so many teams desperate for a QB. I would be surprised if he makes it past the Raiders/Jets/Saints. Raiders seem like a good spot if they sign Wilson to be stop gap. Then sit Sanders for awhile.
I expect the Giants to trade up to #1 and select ward and then it will all come down to the Browns if they select Sanders or not. Interestingly both fans and organizational sources seem all in on drafting one of the top 2 qbs. (They are in cap hell and basically have to bring in someone young). If it takes the Browns being stupid to gift us Hunter or Carter I think we may be in luck because they have stupid to spare.
Not stupid, desperate, though the desperate is a byproduct of stupid.

It's something I struggle to justify logically. If we don't love the value at 4, why would anybody? But it just takes one team to fall in love with a prospect. My guess would be Mason Graham, especially as he seems to be a popular pick for the Jags at 5.
it just means you might not get the value back that is normally associated with pick 4. Maybe you get the value of pick pick 6 in a trade down.
