What was your toughest Patriots loss to take?

OT: I can see the Practice Squad on desktop but on mobile I get an error... weird.
cc @Ian
Odd. It's working on mobile on my end for both the normal registration account and the supporter test account.

What kind of error are you getting?

That’s strange. Screenshot it and DM me if it happens again.

I'm gonna miss sb1

Giants SB was the only sports loss where I couldn’t sleep, stared at the ceiling the whole night, then went to work and stared at the wall all day.

2007 sucked hard. Then losing again to the Giants and then all signs pointing to another meltdown against the Seahawks had me in an existential crisis and a daze wondering why the Pats had to lose in such excruciating fashion 3 times in a row. I couldn't even process the Butler play.

The 2007 loss was like someone died. There was a mourning period. That was another level. I remember one, pre-dynasty, Bledsoe threw a pick in the endzone that would have won the game, and I was furious. I put the dog out in the middle of the night, waiting for her to do her business, and sat there, muttering "eff'n Bledsoe".

Eagles loss still bothers me. I've successfully pushed 42 from my brain. I'll never forgive BB for handing Philly their 1st SB.

Same, because it was self-inflicted.

The offense scored 33 points and that’s with Ghost missing a FG and an extra point. That’s more than both of the Giants’ games combined.

All the defense needed to do was not be historically bad. But what else could have happened when you rely on Eric Rowe, Bademosi and Jordan Richards to hold the fort.

At least in the Giants games, the offense was bad both times, we choked (Welker drop, Samuel and Meriweather drops) and the Giants fought well. SB42 hurts more due to the historical context but as a game in a vacuum, the Eagles game is by far the worst because it was easily winnable. Nick Foles is a bottom 3 QB to ever win a SB, and that defense made him look like an MVP candidate.

Since that SB until the end of his career, he had a record of 7 wins, 12 losses with a TD/INT ratio of 21/18. He was a bellow average QB at best, and he won SB MVP over that defense.

SB42 and there shouldn't be another one close
Guys, that team like the 15-1 Vikings was too dependent upon Moss, and simply didn't have the championship drive. Junior's speech was actually an attempted pep talk. Belichick couldn't and wouldn't ever expose the Giants team and franchise as the schmucks they are because he loves them. Close but no cigar doesn't cut it. Those plays would not have mattered if a) the team was fired up and b) the coaches didn't lay an egg.

The Patriots came out flat as a pancake for both Super Bowls against the Giants. They were good enough to almost win.

As far as the answer to the question, December 18, 1976 has no competition...but I really don't classify it as a loss.

It was a theft.

The refs decided to swallow their whistles for this game regarding offensive holding, which was a bigger advantage for the Eagles. But Butler not playing was suicidal. And, obviously, wrong. He didn't rape or kill anybody.

I never really thought the second SB loss to the NYGs was anywhere on the radar TBH. I felt all season they were not the juggernaut they should have been, and it took the Ravens choking away the win in the AFCCG for the Pats to even get to the SB. The Ravens should have gone B2B, they were superior IMO.

This post is mostly ********.

Too dependent on Moss maybe. The last 9 games they became a dimensional football team.

If you want to say the SB42 team was emotionally taxed, stressed out, and blindsided by Tomase and Arlen Spector that would be accurate.

BB tanking the game because he didn't want to make the Giants look bad? That's an irresponsible thing to say.

I totally disagree. Local media as always highlighted their supposed weaknesses, but they won, which is the only thing that counts. We needed Welker to hold on. That's it.

Of all the SB teams, they were the weakest IMO. I agree that Wes needed to make that catch, but we are also talking about a SB with two flawed teams. The Ravens were better, and you could make a case for the Steelers as well. The NFC had a whole raft of teams better than the Giants that year. This is the one they should have won, because the Giants sucked, but the Pats were not the juggernaut that year they were in others.

I think you can make a case it was a weak pats team and a weaker giants team.

Just my opinion, my man.

I agree on the loss, but Mankins played that game with a torn ACL. Toughest player to play for the Patriots since Hannah.
That was SB 46. Another kick in the balls.

You guys think you had it bad? I was THERE. In Phoenix. Witnessing that disaster firsthand left a scar that never will heal. Imagine having Giants fans less than 10 feet away screaming with joy when Burress caught that scoring lob to put New York ahead with 35 seconds left. I can still see them jumping up and down. Adding insult to injury was getting seated next to a Giants fan on the flight home afterward.

Did you mean to say “besides the obvious ‘07 SBowl”?????
