Don’t complain this thread is speculative and full of hyperbole. It’s in the very title.

What if Brady goes elsewhere, has a hugely successful season and meanwhile Patriots’ season flops as Stidham or whatever other QB throws pick after pick and has a full blown meltdown and Pats finish 4-12 or something or worse. What repercussions does that have to BB’s job, if any, as both a GM and HC? Will we then see Kraft split the GM and HC roles in that scenario to avoid any other obvious GM blunders. Thoughts?

You can just say that you want Belichick to fail because it supports your arguments. You don’t have to tiptoe around it.

I don't know, I wouldn't think anything would happen. Kraft doesn't strike me as the type to step in

Interesting premise. But I honestly feel Stidham is a better QB than Cassel, when Cassel was forced to go in for Brady, and the Matt Cassel led Patriots went 11-5. Belichick is the greatest coach of all time. If it's Stidham and new weapons, he can win. Not bad mouthing Brady, but he seems to zero in on Edelman constantly, maybe a different QB doesn't do that.

I certainly wouldn't fire Bill after a single losing season considering that isn't even the standard level of job security enjoyed by newly hired head coaches, let alone the GOAT.

Bill Belichick will never have his GM duties taken away from him and will also never be fired, even if the Pats go 4-12 the next five years in a row.

Why would I want BB to fail or Patriots to lose? That’s just silly. I am just asking if making an obviously wrong decision in retrospect on Brady can have ANY repercussions on BB’s dual jobs.

At some point Brady is leaving whether it is this year or two yrs from now. Who plays NFL football at age 43..44.. or 45....

If all it takes is one bad season for Kraft to pull the plug on bb then I say Kraft isn't too smart

A milder - but similar - outcome is more likely to happen than people acknowledge. What is BB’s overall record without Brady again? And how many playoff wins? 1 in five seasons? Luckily Bill is smarter than the silly people who think the Patriots won’t miss much of a step without Brady.

But the Matt Cassel led Patriots went 11-5 against a cupcake schedule with an offense that went 16-0 the previous season and featured the second greatest wide receiver in history and one of the best slot receivers in history so I'm sure Stidham could go 14-2 against the league's hardest schedule throwing to Julian Edelman's slowly rotting body and Los Angeles Wildcats great Nelson Spruce

I mean even the "give Stidham a shot" guys will tell you it's only because they think next year's a lost cause

We see great head coaches have subpar seasons all of the time. Look at the mediocrity with Harbaugh, or even Pete Carroll at times. Mike Tomlin is another who comes to mind.

Why on earth would Bob Kraft overreact to one bad season from Belichick? He didn’t when they went 5-11 in 2000, and that was prior to winning all of the SBs. If anything, Belichick would likely just retire after a few bad seasons. Either way, no one is firing him. Good lord.
