Oline oline oline...can this brand new line protect Maye... The McDaniels system will not work without a stout Oline. Game over.
Dline, we are not big enough yet, need a couple of DE. Hopefully some 3 and outs..

Play football. Like an NFL team does.
Which would be a marked improvement from last year when they weren't playing football like a Division II team does.
Exactly what I was thinking. Back to basics. If they just do that a lot of areas will automatically improve tremendously.

Or otoh if they can’t do at least that pretty much anyth8ng else anybody says will be out of reach.

Get better at the fundamentals. It’s a low bar after last season.

Win total? Honestly, maybe the same. BUT I don't expect it to look as bad, either.

There are way too many new faces to expect a massive turnaround in year one. Those sorts of things are NOT the norm.

Overall, I expect a better team. But I think there's going to be a lot of growing pains.

It was embarrassingly unprofessional. My expectation (and fervent hope) is that our team will once again be a tough out that no one looks forward to on their schedule and sure as hell doesn't want to see in December. Give me that this year and I'll be content that the ship has been righted. Which is no small thing because after the past few years an institutional sea change is in order to restore the required professionalism it takes to be consistently competitive.
Vrabel was here during the period when teams who played the Pats were likely to lose the following week as well because they hadn't recovered from the beating they had taken. I'd like to see Vrabel bring that ethos back - "maybe we don't beat you but we will beat you up."

@Ian , how come the spellchecker doesn't like Vrabel?

If Mayo can get 4 wins and Vrabel can't muster up more than that then I feel it's a disappointment. This is a 9 win team at MINIMUM.. coaching, Game planning, scheme, in-game adjustments, red zone efficiency, blocking scheme, all that is back in Foxborough Under Vrabel. The organization is headed in the right direction.. the floor is 9 wins , This could be the type of team that makes the playoffs and no one will want to see.

Great points. I also look at this. The way the defense is disciplined and sound as well as talented.. no team is going to just have thier way moving the ball and scoring on them. The D is stout at every level with a nice mix of veterans, young guys and rookies. The difference with this team is the pressure will come from the D line to collapse the pocket.

That team last year had a bunch of Volunteers as coaches and a head coach who skipped the line.. Drake was the only good thing that came out that mess.

9-8. Miss the playoffs but are competitive in every game. Drake maye moves in the top 12 qb discussion with jayden. Williams and nix have down years.

Run defense is better but LBs will give up too many plays against slot and te. Big need for next year.

Diggs takes til mid-season to get 100%. Williams does great and Polk is... who is polk?

Seven? More than seven wins for sure with that schedule.
Hope so but still lots of question marks on the OL, LB and secondary imo. New coaching staff. I don't mind 7 wins as long as the team is going in the right direction.

The question marks were apparent last 5 seasons.

QB, OL and coaching.

All 3 have been upgraded. I don't see any offense putting up points on a Vrabel coached defense with an ALL pro CB in it. 9 wins is the floor 11 or 12 is ceiling.

Spillane was signed because of his motor, able to stop the run and cover RBs.. marpu is the chess piece in the defense that has the abilities to handle TEs and RBs.. also have to remember we have two lock down Cbs that will press the outside so QB'S will have no choice but to check down and throw over the middle.

These guys already have hit the ground running. The coaches are a veteran crew and know one another, plus the free agents they've brought in are savvy role players with Vrabel's stamp of approval. I think whatever questions you have re. OL/LB/secondary will be answered early in camp. How the offense comes together is another matter that will take more time, but it's in capable hands under McDaniels.

I don't believe there's an internal spellchecker in the software - I think that's a browser thing. And I agree, it's annoying.

Agreed. We were a terrible 3rd down offense going back 3 seasons. Under McDaniels we thrived on 3rd down.. he's one of best 3rd down player callers at OC. Diggs will be a huge benefit to Drake especially on 3rd down.. Josh Allen even said so how much Drake will benefit from him.

LMFAO, any regular could tell you there's def no spell-checker built in to this software

Weirdly, whatever the source, it seems to come and go. For instance, after my initial note I tried a test reply and it did not complain, yet, just as I type this, it flags "Vrabel" again.

If it's not the board's doing I'll just ignore it.

Edit: p.s., I have spellcheck disabled in my browser.

8 wins or less if Maye gets hurt.
