Personally I don't think it's very likely, but some on this very board are already throwing around words like "massacre."

that is because fans put too much focus on the last game. they saw the pats get crushed so they think they must get crushed by the steelers who are a better team. if the pats had won the same fans would say they would beat the steelers this week. in reality each game is different and what teams won last week or lost last week or two weeks ago or whatever does not matter. the only thing that matters is what happens on the field on that day, not who beat who when or how. i think deep down most people know that...but where is the fun in that? is it not more fun to blow everything up into more than it is?

the patriot defenders have to remember to tackle roethlisberger at his legs, not is upper body. he is like brandon jacobs - very tough to take down especially if you go for his mid section.

Right now we have just over 84% predicting a close game or a Pats blowout win ...
... but there's a sizable group (about 15%) predicting the Steelers will blow out the Patriots.

WTF is wrong with some of you people. This thread is full of FAIL. Seriously. How can you, as a pats fan, start a thread asking the chances of getting blown out?

What are the chances? ZERO. The Pats WILL win the game and thinking of anything less is for LOSERS. Winners mentality. Winners mentality. If they lose, so be it, but I'm NOT going to start actually consider losing. I don't bet sports, so I don't care about the odds.

I'm not sold on the Pats getting over their road woes of last year...

- They got punked in NY.

- They played like poop for 1 half in Miami, then special teams drastically changed momentum...thanks to Miami having the worst ST in the league.

- The O and D played poorly in the 1st half in San Diego (an undermanned squad), but were bailed out by Chargers brainfarts. The O looked sharper in the 2nd half, but the D and ST almost gave the game away.

- They got punked in Cleveland.

This Steelers team doesn't have a major hole like Miami's special teams or make game-giveaway mistakes like San Diego. I can see the Pats getting stuffed in the run game and going one-dimensional which plays right into that Steelers D. 2010 Roethlisberger isn't the AFCCG rookie in 2004 or the disastrous Kordell Stewart in 2001 that the Pats could overplay the run and dare to beat them. Against this team on the road, this is simply a bad matchup.

The Pats' saving grace is that the Steelers can get bogged down on offense, especially if Mendenhall is kept in check without overplaying the run. Pats could win a close one if they avoid turnovers, move the ball enough on offense to switch field position when they punt and force the Steelers to punt from deep in their own end, giving the Pats short fields to rack up enough points. I think a battle of field position is how they win this game. Otherwise it's a loss on the road against a very good opponent, probably the best on D they'll face all year.

Regards,
Chris

Nice post.

I think one positive aspect of this game, win or loss, is that we'll know much more about the 2010 Patriots after the game is over.

I agree with this

Lets just hope they play better then they did against the browns. That was horrific to watch. This offense needs to start being more sharp.I expect the steelers to bring some blitz packages. This o-line really needs to play well.

This is the most accurate and rational post on this thread. I agree 100%. It will take turnovers and smart football to get this win. Possible, but not probable.

The Steelers under R-berger are averaging 1.75 turnovers per game.

The post-Moss Pats average 1.25 turnovers per game.

Can the Pats turn that 0.5 turnover advantage into a TD?

I'm not 4 years old. Thats how.

Well, the last time the Steelers allowed 39 points at home was in the 2004 AFC Championship game against the Patriots, when they allowed 41. Quite an accomplishment.

In any case, I suppose a 13 pt game is technically a close game, isn't it?

Congratulations Patriots!
