Their argument would probably be that the play is set up so that neither the Bucs or the ref has time to react.
Seems like that would be incredibly difficult to enforce in a wide variety of situations, if that was how they were going to call it...
Come on. How could you possibly prove that the play was anything other than a simple slant route that happened to cross in front of the official? Wouldn't they have to call a penalty on every team that ran a route near the ref if that was the case?How hard is it? Welker spots the ref, drag (in) then does a short post. Brady would read that and time it to throw when Welker clears the ref.

That bastitch! Poor Charlie must have nearly had a coronary when that happened!Did you actually watch it? It was not a slant. He clearly cut around the ref knowing full well he was in man coverage.
