We're On To The Titans

Yeah... no. There's no way the Patriots win that game 9 times out of 10. Not with the way they were knocking Brady on his ass in both that game and in Week 17. They were the worst possible match-up the Pats could have drawn out of the NFC. Especially with Brady having a gimpy ankle.

The 07 Patriots are the best team to ever step foot on the field if GB beats NY that night. It was just a bad matchup. Just like a team like Minnesota would be a bad match up ( D, HFA) this season.

While I agree the the Giants weren't a great matchup, how can you possibly say that Case Keenum would be a bad matchup? Brady vs Minn defense is still > than Keenum vs our defense.

I think just looking at defenses that the Jags, Eagles and Vikes are all sketchy matchups that can get that pressure on Brady, cover and make thing uncomfortable. The Titans, to me are a regular good team that will present some challenges. Still the Pats need to play well.

no demarco murray AND the weather is going to be bad? Ill take the pats by 70 points please.

Low 30s. I didn't expect rain. It should be favorable weather for our passing game.

Any thoughts on Torbert? He's not sticking in my head as either good or bad.

Titans at Patriots, 8:15 p.m. CBS

Ron Torbert is the referee, who is in his 8th season and 4th as referee. This is his 6th postseason assignment, including 3 Wild Card Playoffs and 3 Divisional Playoffs; he has received a playoff assignment in every year he was eligible.

Torbert:

Keep in mind this is a mixed crew, so regular season crew tendencies are likely out the door.

regular season crews:

Aggressive defenses are best off with the crews of either Brad Allen or Walt Coleman, who have called a total of eight and 11 combined penalties for defensive holding or illegal contact, respectively. John Parry's crew (41) has been the most active here, followed by Terry McAulay (40).

Offensive linemen likely prefer Bill Vinovich's crew, which has called holding 23 times. Ronald Torbert's crew (47) and Parry's (46) have called the most.

You had better behave around Gene Steratore's crew, which has called an NFL-high 19 unnecessary roughness penalties. Clete Blakeman's crew has called five.

Illegal use of hands, a less publicized point of emphasis this season, has been called 27 times by Walt Anderson's crew. The crews of Steratore, Torbert and Triplette have called it six times apiece.

Though pre-snap penalties might seem straightforward, there are sizable gaps among the crews. For instance, Steratore's crew has called delay of game twice. Carl Cheffers' crew, which leads the league in overall penalty calls, as can be seen in the bar graph above, has called it 12 times. Coleman's crew has called 39 false start penalties. Jeff Triplette's has called less than half of that total (18).

The #Titans have already declared RB DeMarco Murray out for the game against the #Patriots. More Derrick Henry like last week.

Good news, if only because Henry might get tired by the end of the game. Henry looks, in my limited viewing of the Titans, as more West-East runner than Murray, so that James "the edge will be set" Harrison pick-up could be important.

I dont know if Murray being out is a good thing or not. Against what I would consider a considerably better front 7 than the Pats.

Rushing Car Yds Avg TDs
D. Henry 23 156 6.8 1

Im not too worried about the Titans but Henry ran pretty dam good last week.

Well I think the Vikes D is the reason it would be a very tough match up. That's what I meant.

Taking carries away from Henry is something I am full support of.

Something I & many others have been saying. We'll def go after the ball for TO & def test his pass pro but he's a beast.

So unique from skill set to build. Always liked him.

Look for heavy Off T runs w combos from Lewan/Spain and Conklin/Kline. They'll live and die on that play.

Vinovich and Steratore are two of the best refs in the game - knowing that one of the divisional refs will be in the Super Bowl, it's good to know that both of them are in the list.

Torbert and Allen are both relative newbies, where nothing sticks out about them to me. That's generally a good thing, so hopefully that'll work out here.

Henry is a load. We don't see much of the bigger backs these days. At 6'3" 238 He's much bigger and a whole lot faster than LeGarrette Blount. A guy you don't want to get up a head of steam.

I am so ready for this game to be on already lol... At long last... we still don’t know yet what we’ve got. Right now it’s all “reasons to believe.”

Sat. Night could still end with “Look out world, the Titans are for real.” Nooooooo...

Co-workers always tell me: Patriots win that game 9 times out of 10. Thing is, I'm unsure if that would be the case. Giants had an elite pass rush. We'v seen that gread defenses can shut down great offenses ( IE SB 25; SB 36; SB 37; SB 42; SB 48; SB 50). The Giants were a nightmare matchup.
That's what people say but NE had the higher rated defense. It wasn't an example of defenses win championships or NE would have won. It was an example of **** happens.

The thing is, he looks really slow running but nobody catches him!

I do think if the Pats don't tackle, Henry will run amok. With that said, if Brady plays the way Brady generally plays, Henry will be a non factor.
