Patriots select CB Logan Ryan from Rutgers.

Nice pick up!

Welcome to the New England Patriots Logan Ryan

Hate this pick. He's physical but apparently more of a zone corner. Come on Bill.

NFL's description of him expressly mentions that he's likely to not track the ball and will get penalized.

I go to Rutgers now. He's nothing special m2m but he's quick in zone. He tackles well and he's a high character player. IMO he's a less athletic McCourty clone. He'll provide good depth and he may become one of those guys who's a better pro than college player.

Perfect for the usual Pats CB coverage ploy, back to the pass, stare at the receiver and never look at the ball.

He could be a Safety?

Pats need fewer of these "high character" jabrones and need some thugs in the secondary

he very well could play safety. Very safe pick from them. Sounds like he is great in run support. This team is going to be very very hard to run on this year...

its fine - with the new and improved dominating pash rush - we just need good DB tacklers not great cover guys..

It seems like Belichick drafts this guy every year.

I think he'll be better than wreh-wilson. He's not just a solid tackler but he also picked off 4 passes. I think you guys give him too little credit as an on ball defender. Plus those 'scouting writeups' are often inconsistent. Look how one guy said Dobson had the 'best hands in college football' and another one says he 'drops the easy ones'. So don't judge the kid on some stupid writeup off the net.

The Pats brass have studied the film. If Logan Ryan can stay healthy, he'll be way ahead of the game of most rookie CBs that the Pats have drafted before.

The more research I do on Logan Ryan, the more I'm seeing that he is decent at man. Pro Football Weekly said, "not a shutdown man corner"

6.69 three cone is very good, his shuttle time was very good also.

Why do the patriots always think that they smarter than everyone else when it comes to the draft. Same old **** as last year when they selected T Wilson. No wonder their defense continue to suck, and them having to select multiple DB's every year.
The steeler know how to pick wr in the third round, where as the patriots select ......

Disagree 100%! Watched him for 3 years at Rutgers as a grad student.

Broke into the lineup as a true freshman. Made a lot of good plays with the opportunities he was given. The Rutgers pass defense was notacibly better once he started to play more.

Started as a sophmore and looked like he was on his way to being the best Big Rast cornerback since Revis. Really got better as the year went on. Towards the end of the year, so much that opposing teams stopped throwing to his side.

Took a small step backwards his junior year. But still had a good year. Statistically had a much better year than his sophmore year, but was beaten more than once in big situations in big games.

Has potential to be a very good corner, but probably not an all-pro or consistent pro bowler. Plays the man well if lined up at the line of scrimmage, but no so much if asked to line up 5 yards off. Gets fooled when asked to play man 5 yards off. Very good zone cover with excellent instincts and burst, however not a real speedster.

Great pick up and value at this point in the draft.

So your saying he is better when given the opportunity to play his bump? If that is the case, color me "pumped and jacked." Sorry all, the Russell Wilson talk on nfln got to me...

Seriously though, press/man coverage with mccourty/? at safety and an improved dl... Very optimistic about the d this year.

Anything, except another year of Cole.

Meh....another DB that screams mediocrity. Hope I'm wrong, but the teams track record when drafting DB's totally blows.

Coming where this pick did at #83 -- after a run for corners, he was a good value pick. 6 CBs were chosen ahead of him in the 3rd round and 2 after him. So considering where the Pats had their pick (Minnesota's) they grabbed one of the better ones available when they picked. Had they not done so, he would have been gone by the time they picked again at 91. Sadly, we now know they spent that pick on someone they could have gotten as a rookie free agent.
