Welcome to Indy for the Super Bowl - NOT!

I'm sure they wanted Jim Harbaugh the ex-Colt to make it but really in the AFC it was pick your poison for them. I don't think they wanted the Baltimore Colts fans winning a SB on their field and letting them know it was karmic justice any more than they want the Pats doing the same.

The Ravens are the former Browns franchise.

Great point. How sweet would it have been for old Baltimore Colts fans to go to Indianapolis and trash the oil can leaving Jim Irsay with a giant cleanup bill?

Agreeing to host the Super Bowl may bring in revenue, but has so many chances to suck.

Let's face it. If your team isn't in the SB, you're not happy.

now havingthe year they've had...it's salt into the wound. How will they feel when Brady takes Peyton Mannings locker.

The Ravens are the former Browns franchise.

That may be true, but there is no greater hatred in professional football than Baltimore Colts fans hating Robert Irsay for packing up the Colts and moving to Indianapolis. The Pats - Jets rivalry is a tea party compared to this:

The Move
In January 1984, a drunk Irsay appeared before the Baltimore media and exclaimed, "This is my goddamn team!" He reiterated that, despite problems, the rumors that he was moving the team were untrue.

With negotiations over improvements to Memorial Stadium at an impasse, one of the chambers of the Maryland state legislature passed a law on March 27, 1984 allowing the city of Baltimore to seize the Baltimore Colts under eminent domain, which city and county officials had threatened to do. Irsay later claimed the city promised him a new football stadium, something they later denied, citing the team's poor attendance.

The next day, Irsay, fearing a dawn raid on the team's Owings Mills headquarters, accepted a deal offered by the city of Indianapolis, Indiana. Indianapolis Mayor William Hudnut contacted his friend John B. Smith, at that time the CEO of the Mayflower Transit Company, who arranged for fifteen trucks to pack the team's property hurriedly and transport it to Indianapolis in the early hours of the morning of March 29, 1984.

You have no idea how much I hate living in this wasteland known as Indiana.

But, "the people are nice." Right?

Re: If you're planning to come to Indy for the Super Bowl...

The drivel started last night on tv, Bob Kravitz continues it this morning:

If Patriots are in Colts' town, at least a Manning is waiting | The Indianapolis Star | indystar.com

This was pretty funny:

Like Peyton Manning's injury and the Colts' 2-14 season record weren't enough, right?

Salt, meet wound.

Here they come: the Patriots.

(Say it with a sneer.)

The Patriots.

And they're going to be the home team, no less.

This is going to be a true test of Midwestern manners and equanimity. We're supposed to be nice to New Englanders and, more specifically, the Patriots. We're supposed to say things like "Good morning, Coach Hoodie, now you have a sooooper day" or "Hello, Tom Brady, have a sooooper time while using Peyton Manning's locker stall at the West 56th Street practice facility."

Sooooper.

The football gods must be crazy.

Re: If you're planning to come to Indy for the Super Bowl...

The banjo pickers in Indiana will be pulling for Deliverance boy #2, since they had his brother, Deliverance boy #1
The birth rate from inbreeding will probably go up after so much free time on their hands too.

Indy fans, please tell us about Lucas Oil. Where to sit, where not to sit, etc.

By the way the Indianapolis Colts are treating Payton Manning right now, he may secretly be hoping to see his friend Brady stick it right up the city's keister.

Guy gets injured through no fault of his own and his team has a crappy season and they've basically fired everyone with any ties to Manning and are already freely talking about drafting Luck to replace him.

I'm sure that he'll say all the right things to his little bro too, but don't think it won't be lost on him that while he is clearly a better QB at any measure then Eli....... Eli still has the very real opportunity to get something that will forever elude him........ a second ring at the hands of his biggest rivals.

I have been there quite a few times. It’s like Utah without the scenery. Folks have no problem coming right up to you and asking you which church you go to. Very weird.

I have tickets for media day next Tuesday. I'll have my usual Patriots stuff - looking forward to seeing what kind of reception I get - it's been mighty cool this morning here at work towards me!
