DRAFT Welcome Jack Jones of ASU..pick #121

Earlier than expected but who cares. I like the player.

Broke busted, disgusted, agents can't be trusted,
Patricia wants to shore up the D
Bye bye Jackson, a Jones for cornerbacks is one
Headache, so take two of these
Draftniks cry about a trade-out
2025 I'll tell ya how we made out
McMillan and McGrone's just there to not be Jones
In New England, you know where that's at?
And nobody's gettin' fat 'cept Robert Kraft

So, other teams are drafting 6'+ CBs, and the Patriots draft undersized CBs....
Yes. That was the thought process. Let's see what everybody else is drafting and draft the opposite. Simple job right?

To be fair, the league is also leaning heavy into the faster WR's they can find. You still need some guys that can cover height, but going against Hill/Waddle twice a year in Miami, you want guys that can keep up. They could be 9 feet tall, if they're ten yards behind the WR they're not making a play.

4-121 CB Jack Jones, Arizona State: Coming off a turbulent college career, the Patriots used their first pick on Day 3 to bring Jones aboard. Spending the last three seasons at Arizona State, he appeared in 25 games and recorded six interceptions and 19 pass deflections, leading the Sun Devils in the latter category. Jones has a history of off-the-field issues but he is an able press-man cornerback who should compete for playing time on the boundary right away.

After being dismissed from USC for academic issues, Jones — initially a five-star recruit out of Long Beach Poly — was arrested and charged with commercial burglary and felony conspiracy to commit a crime after breaking into a Panda Express in June 2018. The charges were reduced to a misdemeanor, and he was placed on probation. After a year at Moorpark College to work on his grades, Jones returned to the Pac-12 and resumed his college football career at Arizona State.

Tooson sent a letter to all 32 NFL teams on behalf of Jones addressing the 2018 arrest and outlining the talented cornerback’s plan for the future. PFF acquired the letter, which in part further detailed the incident. Tooson, who was Jones’ lawyer in the case, informed teams that the break-in happened after the restaurant was closed when no employees or customers were present and did not involve a weapon.

The letter also stated that Jones, who was suspended during the 2020 season for an altercation with a teammate but was permitted to return to the team in 2021, went on to enroll in anger management counseling in December 2021 and plans to continue seeking help for his mental health in the city in which he’s drafted.

Jack Jones broke into a Panda Express? Was he that hungry? o_O

Anyways at least he has shown a talent for stealing, maybe that will be the other team's balls instead of their pocket change. LOL. :haha:

No but seriously, he looks like a ball hawk on tape. That's kind of what we need. He's a whopping 3 inches taller than Marcus Jones so he could play some reps outside too, I imagine.

TBH Never heard of the kid. But double dip in secondary is kind of what we needed.

Its the "altercation with a teammate" causing him to be suspended and take anger management...
You don't want this type of attitude to be in any NFL locker-room....
