Welcome back Andre Carter

Vince had 2 interceptions two seasons ago

this move gets Jamie Collins off the field and puts Ninkovich back at OLB

If we get pre-injury Carter then this is a great move. Best thing is that it shouldn't take him long to get reacclimated with plays, signals, etc
I think if he were pre-injurty carter someone would have signed him already

this x10. If he was pre injury...he wouldn't still be available.

Wonder how much he has left in the tank

Pre injury Carter was a street FA no one but the Pats wanted too.

As I recall he played well with the team before he was injured in 2011,cant hurt to try him in some situations....

Well, he's at least seen the field, unlike Steve Beauharnais, who can't even get snaps on STs.

Did you SEE the last defensive snap he was in on this year?

Goal line "stand" against the Bengals. Touchdown Bengals.

Bequette did an amazing imitation of whipped cream. If someone can find the replay of that (CBS used an overhead camera) you will see what a human being looks like deboned.

In addition to Carter, according to WEEI, the Patriots signed DT Sealver Siliga off the Seahawks' practice squad.

It Is What It Is » Defensive tackle Sealver Siliga signs with Patriots

Siliga was not on the Seahawks Practice Squad at the time of this signing, he was a Free Agent, and therefore could have been signed to either the Active Roster or the Patriots' own Practice Squad.

He's more of a traditional Nose Tackle, something this team is lacking. If he is signed to the Active Roster, I can envision Forston being released and resigned to the PS. If Siliga is signed to the PS himself, he's another depth body.

I was going by a Rotoworld blurb:

Patriots signed DT Sealver Siliga.
Siliga was signed off the Seahawks' practice squad. A third-year undrafted free agent, Siliga appeared in one game for the Broncos last season. He's just a depth signing for a team that's taken a number of hits up front.

They're usually accurate with their info, so pardon me if I didn't look too deeply into the career path of practice squad nobody.

love andre carter. hope he has something left.

You do wonder what the Patriots scouts/BB see in some players at times, especially when nothing in particular screams off the TV screen to you during their college careers.

Belichick's draft memoirs would make for some amazing reading.

I don’t see them moving Ninkovich, in my opinion Carter is here to play the 3 technique defensive tackle or right defensive end in passing situations, I can’t see him playing early downs and those would be the only downs that we would need to use Ninkovich at the linebacker position.

My thought is Belichick saw a lot of physical talent in Bequette and was hopeful that he could mold him into a good player. Looking at his combine numbers compared to someone like JPP who is considered an athletic freak it is really shocking to see how closely Bequette stacks up and even more shocking that his talent translates so poorly into success at the NFL level.

When was the last time he played football?...whatever, this defense is starting to lose it's touch. If he can harass Tannerhill Sunday, then great move!

That is why nobody is happier about the Andre Carter signing than Bequette; his relaxing :couch2: Sunday afternoon of watching football will never be disturbed  by Patricia screaming :scared2: for him to find his helmet again :cheer2:

Clearly you didn’t know that while Bequette was forced onto the field Josh Boyce :cool4: got the telephone number of the cheerleader Bequette spitting game to :enranged:

I seriously hope Belichick didn't draft Bequette squarely based on workout numbers (I'm sure he didn't).

Bequette didn't seem like a bad pick though. He comes from the SEC, had decent production in college against future NFL players.

But the guy is just a waste out there when you see him now.

He must have a helluva personality to be still on the team.

A couple of key areas in those combine/pro-day workouts are unaccounted for that factor into the transition at the next level for DEs. Bequette's short arms (32" arm length in comparison to JPP's 34 3/4") makes it very easy for him to get velcroed to blockers which has been one of his biggest weaknesses in the NFL.

The length of his arms don't allow him to keep tackles from getting their hands on him, which means he doesn't have the ability to turn the corner before O-Linemen can engage him (long-armed guys like JPP & Chandler Jones are masters at this). That is something that is very important for a one-dimensional speed rusher that Bequette is - if he cannot beat his man quickly with his speed, he's likely useless.

In addition to that, he has below average strength and gets pushed around too easily in run support (unlike say JPP) and cannot seal the edge to save his life. Despite his supposed elite measurables, he's not a quick twitch athlete. He also stinks using his hands against NFL O-Linemen.

It's easy to compare certain areas of one athlete to the next, but disregarding the glaring ones such as those doesn't lead much credence to asking why JB sucks when it's clear as day. It might have been easy to dominate at the collegiate level when you could just get by with your athleticism, but in the NFL you're going to need to do more than that because pretty much everyone is a great athlete in the pros.

What about Justin Francis? Where did he go?
